A Blessed Mothers Day

A very happy and much blessed Mothers Day to all the Mom’s, Grandma’s, Aunts, and fill-in Mothers today.

One does not have to be a natural Mother to be a Mother’ to others…Though I had a wonderful natural Mother who loved the Lord I also was blessed to have a few wonderful Spiritual Mothers as well.

I would like to also ask God’s blessing and peace to be upon those today who’s Mother’s are no longer with them. I know you miss them terribly, and so does our Lord. I miss my Mom too.

The Bible is filled with accounts of Godly Mothers, one of my favorites is the story of Hannah the Mother of Samuel; (1Samuel 1)

I love her boldness when coming in prayer before the Lord and her willingness to offer her son back to Him.

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head….

God granted her petition and gave her Samuel:

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.  And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.  And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.  For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.

Because of her willingness, Samuel grew up in the Temple and became a great Prophet before God and men.
