Will There Be Temple Sacrifices During The Millennium? If So, Why?

Interesting post and question on eschatology at Jesus Christology: Will There Be Temple Sacrifices During The Millennium? If So, Why?

quote..

Now Scofield rapture dispensationalists claim that the sacrificial system will be re – instituted during the millennium. Why, pray tell? What purpose would those sacrifices serve?..

This is one topic I’ve found myself debating with others over for years!

Jesus was our sacrifice, we don’t go back to types and shadows. What a slap in the face to Jesus and the Father. Why pray-tell did the Father send Jesus if we go back to sacrifices!! The sacrifices were temporary, Jesus was once for all time. Brother……….how they can’t see that is beyond us!

………..and one more thing…….If they do set up a temple and do sacrifices, then they don’t believe that Jesus is the Messiah which REALLY gets them in to trouble because they are going backwards to the old types and shadows, thinking that the Father will send who-ever as the true Messiah. So if this temple is rebuilt………I personally believe its all of satan and his little cohorts.

Well thats been a big part of my argument against it, along with the fact i don’t see scripture which says we’re going to do it! lol

J Vernon McGee (sorry not sure about the spelling of his name) said to look back on the cross and commerate the sacrifice that Jesus made for us when He shed His blood for us on the cross.

Love J. Vernon McGee! If you look in my sidebar you’ll see i have a link to his daily radio programs. I’m so glad they still play them, even though he’s been gone for some time now.

Are you saying you believe the sacrifices will be reinstated as a reminder of Christ’s sacrifice?

I have heard it explained that Temple sacrifices will be
    done during the rapture.

The following is from Bibleline Ministries, Dr. Hank Lindstrom:

What is the red heffer suppose to mean, regarding the happenings in the Middle East?
    Answer
Read Numbers chapter 19. After the rapture a Third Temple will be rebuilt and animal sacrifices will be offered. The RED HEIFER is absolutely necessary for a ceremonial purification that allow the resumption of the sacrifices. The discovery of a perfect red cow leads us to believe that the coming of Christ at the rapture must be close. There have been only 9 red heifers in all of history. Rabbis believe that when the 10th red heifer appears that the Messiah will come. WE MUST BE CLOSE!

    Hi Christine…

After the rapture a Third Temple will be rebuilt and animal sacrifices will be offered.

Do you know anywhere in Scripture though, where it says this will be done under the new covenant? See, i don’t–and believe me i’ve searched. lol

If Jesus being born, dying in our place for our sins, and rising again, fulfilled the types and shadows examples under the old covenant what need would there be for these things to be reinstituted?

The discovery of a perfect red cow leads us to believe that the coming of Christ at the rapture must be close.

In numbers 19 the red heifer signified the only way for the priests to cleanse themselves and participate in the worship of God. This is not true today–for now its the acceptance of Jesus Christ, and the cleansing we receive of the [red] blood he shed, which makes us clean. In other words Jesus fulfilled this..

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:13, 14

    WE MUST BE CLOSE!

Amen, that i agree with you on!!

Well actually there are several scripture teaching that animal sacrifices didnt end when Jesus died , and if anything, the burden of proof is on the ones that teach it did , but here are some anyway . for one, Jesus taught that one of the sogns of the end times would be when the anti christ stops animal sacrifices in the Temple, which is even called an abomination .
mat 24:15 “”When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),” and here is the incident spoken by Daniel
“”And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”

so i must ask, if God really ended animal sacrifices , why would it be called an abomination when the anti Christ does it? Also , the fact that the apostles still made sacrifices in teh Temple is also evidence that they werent over
“Then Paul took the men, and the next day, purifying himself along with them, went into the temple giving notice of the completion of the days of purification, until the sacrifice was offered for each one of them.”

    Hi Pianokid!

I don’t think there’s any question that animal sacrifices continued after the death and resurrection of Christ. The point is though, they were for naught!

Once the new covenant was enacted, the old covenant was done away with. Sacrificing of animals for the covering of sin, was never again honored by God. In fact it continued in the temple, by those Jews who never accepted Jesus as the Messiah, until 70AD when God brought judgment and the city and temple were destroyed.

“With his own blood he entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.” Heb 9:12

“We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Heb 10:10

“For by one offering he has perfected forever those being sanctified.” Heb 10:14
