The Dead Raising Team

Good grief… You may recall the weird video posted last August in which we saw Patricia King introduce a young lady and a ‘ministry’ which travels around to funeral homes/mortuaries praying over the dead.

If you didn’t catch the video, watch it here: “Todd Bentley mentor Patricia King’s prophetic team practices raising the dead in local mortuaries”

Well, there is a website [and team] devoted to this ministry, and PhoenixPreacher has a post up today linking to the website.

quote..

Another “ministry” has sprung from the fertile imagination of Bill Johnson’s Bethel Church.

The “Dead Raising Team”.

Evidently, they travel the Northwest looking for opportunities to…raise the dead. (more here)

You can hear Bill Johnson speak on this ‘ministry’ under the page which says ‘info’. (The Dead Raising Team)

Yes, this is the same Bill Johnson who is working with Joyner in Bentley’s restoration.

Is this still Christianity?

This is fascinating reading. I never knew there were such close ties between Ted Haggard and Peter Wagner going back to the 90′s. The quotes from both Wagner and Haggard are interesting as well as all the stats concerning Wagner’s NAR movement.

Religion Dispatch: Fighting Demons, Raising the Dead, Taking Over the World

by  Bruce Wilson

Is this still Christianity? Bruce Wilson offers a primer on what has been called “Third Wave Christianity,” a global movement now almost 300 million strong whose adherents believe they can abolish evil from the world by hunting witches, chasing demons from city limits, and getting Sarah Palin elected.

What is happening to Christianity?

In 1996 a team from Ted Haggard’s New Life Church flew to Mali and began furtively anointing entire towns with cooking oil.

The strangeness of it gripped Dutch missionary René Holvast, who later wrote: “It was confusing and produced a growing uneasiness. It did not seem to fit our current evangelical theological and anthropological textbooks.”

The team from Haggard’s church was a forerunner in a missionary wave that has washed over the world since the early 1990s, bringing what Holvast calls a ‘new paradigm.’

Jesus, Politics, and the BNP

We here in America came pretty close to this type of stuff during our last election. I recall an ad/video put out by some far-right wing group within the Republican party, which ran on TV in some States in early November: that ad too ‘used’ Jesus. If Jesus tarries and we see another election, maybe we’ll see something as blatant as this in 3 years here. (sigh).

Many Christian conservatives who have aligned themselves with the political Christian right, have already been riding the beast named Blasphemy, which attempts, in every way it can, to tie Jesus Christ and Christianity to politics.

From Ekklesia: BNP to launch advertising campaign featuring Jesus Christ *(HT Barthsnotes)

The extremist British National Party (BNP) is to launch an advertising campaign featuring Jesus Christ.

The far-Right party will use the advert which features a bible verse quoting Jesus’ words about persecution, in the run up to the European Elections in June. (more at link)

A follow-up article: Churches dismiss BNP’s election posters

Three British Churches have reminded people of the ‘true Christian message of love’ for all people following the inclusion of Jesus in a BNP election campaign.

Their statement comes after the Church of England declined to comment on the posters which feature a bible verse quoting Jesus’ words about persecution, in the run up to the European Elections in June.

The adverts contain a picture of Jesus Christ on the cross and quotes a part of a verse from John’s Gospel (John 15:20) in which Jesus says: “If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you”. The verse comes in the context of Jesus’ teaching about love. (more at link)

Boycotts and Bans, “Spitting in the wind”

Did you know there is a website which tells you who or what to boycott or ban? Yep, there sure is: united boycott.org.

I was thinking the last few days of the times we live in, a time in which boycotts, bans, protests, and any term which ends in an ‘ism’ are the rage. Lets not forget the ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ positions and terms either: everyone is pro this or anti that, and both sides on any issue, want to make sure you and I know which side of the line they’re on.You know I’m right…

This PP (personal pondering) began on the 28th with Earth Hour, when everyone was encouraged to ‘go dark’ for an hour, in order to voice their concern about energy conservation. My thought was ‘how is this action going to change energy conservation, and exactly what is it going to accomplish!?’. I came to the conclusion it wasn’t and nothing. It wasn’t going to change a thing and would accomplish nothing: That in reality it was like spitting into the wind.

We sure are a people who like to have our voice’s heard–aren’t we. And its not relegated to just those in the secular world but to the Christian community as well. Visit Dobson’s Focus on the Family some time and look around under Social Issues: you’ll find a virtual Cornucopia from which to chose from; at least one thing, issue or ism, you can protest, boycott, ban, etc.

Anyway, I say all that to post the link to what I believe is an excellent post this evening at Onward, Forward, Toward: Real Christians Drink Coca-Cola

I hope you’ll check it out. There is Godly wisdom to be found in the post.
