2012 Mania from false prophets, apostles, new agers, and assorted nuts…

This is becoming interesting; the whole 2012 mania which is coming from all corners. Not just from the numerology crowd, but new age-ers and false prophets. You may recall the year 2012 has been mentioned by the NAR/Elijah List family as being of ‘great’ significance…as an example, from last fall:

“In the last 30 years we’ve seen a restoration of the prophetic – true prophets have been restored to the Church. But now we are about to see a restoration of the apostolic – true apostles are arising. The prophets bring the revelation and the apostles bring the application..We will see an entirely new apostolic government in place by 2012. At this time, we will see the Church being put together and growing into a habitation for the Spirit of God…By 2012 we will see a genuine apostolic government in place. (more here)

There was an interesting article in today’s NewsWeek about this growing 2012 mania titled, 2012: A Y2K for the New Age:

One of the most popular authors in the 2012 category is John Major Jenkins, a self-described “independent researcher” whose 1998 book “Maya Cosmogenesis 2012″ helped usher in this craze.

“Around the year we call 2012,” he writes, “a large chapter in human history will be coming to an end. All the values and assumptions of the previous World Age will expire, and a new phase of human growth will commence.” (more here)

The author at NewsWeek made one comment at the end of the article which I found very interesting:

“In America, we have always been uniquely receptive to end-times prophesy—Y2K is the most recent example. What’s unique about 2012 is that it appeals not to fundamentalist Christians but to the New Age set”

My response is look out–its still early. This latest may not have been grasped by many fundamentalist Christians yet, but give them time. We already have false prophets spewing forth 2012 predictions of authoritative grander, so I’m quite certain by the time 2012 rolls around, many sane Christians [sane today] will be falling into lock-step behind this phenomena in some shape or form.
