Associated Baptist Press: Drake, former SBC officer, says he’s praying for Obama to die
A former Southern Baptist Convention officer who on June 2 called the death of abortion provider George Tiller an answer to prayer said later in the day he is also praying “imprecatory prayer” against President Obama.
Wiley Drake, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif., and former running mate of American Independent Party presidential candidate Alan Keyes, said June 2 on Fox News Radio he didn’t understand why people were upset with his comments quoted by Associated Baptist Press from a webcast of his daily radio talk show.
“Imprecatory prayer is agreeing with God, and if people don’t like that, they need to talk to God,” Drake told syndicated talk-show host Alan Colmes. “God said it, I didn’t. I was just agreeing with God.”
Asked if there are others for whom Drake is praying “imprecatory prayer,” Drake hesitated before answering that there are several. “The usurper that is in the White House is one, B. Hussein Obama,” he said.
Later in the interview, Colmes returned to Drake’s answer to make sure he heard him right.
“Are you praying for his death?” Colmes asked.
“Yes,” Drake replied.
“So you’re praying for the death of the president of the United States?”
“Yes.”
“You would like for the president of the United States to die?” Colmes asked once more.
“If he does not turn to God and does not turn his life around, I am asking God to enforce imprecatory prayers that are throughout the Scripture that would cause him death, that’s correct.”

I’m so far down the road of disappointment with the SBC that not much surprises me. This guy sounds like a clown. However, not all who endorse “imprecatory prayer” are as loose in their thinking as Drake.

Wiley Drake is a dominionist who believes that Christians should take dominion by praying for God to kill people.

I guess the Church has been amiss the last 2000 years. Instead of praying for people’s hearts to be open to the gospel of Christ, the Church should have just joined together and prayed for the death of every unbelieving sinner.
That would mean they would have been praying for your and my death, at one time.
And you know what? I deserved death. For i was a horrible sinner who committed terrible acts against God.
But praise be to Jesus, there were people not praying for my imminent death, but praying for God to send his Spirit to draw me to Christ. And they prayed for years.
What this man above advocates is witchcraft. All i can say is thank God he isn’t sitting in the White House today, as vice president.

Nebuchadnezzar was an ego-maniac and worshiper of his own greatness, and purely satanic; a man that had cruelly slaughtered multitudes of his nation and probably many of his own relatives, yet Daniel chose to pray for him.
Daniel honored him, and served him, and continually offered intercession also, which turned into one of the most spectacular reversals and salvation’s in the history of the world. Nebuchadnezzar is now part of the family of God. He was gloriously saved and converted, and then proceeded to communicate it to the entire known world at the time. [after some rather intense humbling and discipline..]
If Daniel would have prayed for his death, where would we all be now? Daniel would not have been Daniel, would he?…but just another bitter wanna be witch masquerading as a prophet of God. This guy has some serious hate issues, and where is the mercy and goodness of God in such a statement ? You shall know them by their fruits.

When I read that PJ my heart lept and I was quickened with something I believe is from the Heart of God for you!
Now I will do something I like doing but rarely do. I am going to prophesy something about you and I am doing it herein for all your readers to “judge” it to see if this is of God or just my own imagination.
The prelude to the Word I want to point to about you is this, God gives us “Words” by the Holy Ghost for one another continually and because no prophecy is of “private” interpretation I gladly will share it now.
Therefore I gladly hereon in this combox give this Word to you for you to receive and for all to judge to see if it is of God or from my own imagination!

The Lord has opened your heart like He did Lydia. God is about to increase His measure of Grace in your life so that a greater number of souls, men, women and children are edified and built up in His Faith once delivered to the Saints because of you.
As the Apostle wrote, so you have received these Words too:::>
Act 20:32 And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Because you have received those two things, God in your spiritual being, your heart and mind; and the Word of Grace, the Word of Grace will become even more active within you. Because of this activity, God will now pour forth from your being more of His Spiritual Life and Grace into more lives and many more lives will be enriched by His Work through you and this will be a sign to you as a confirming Word that is already at work in your life in that that Paul wrote here:
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
The Word of the Lord will come to you with Power now and you will receive it and because you believe Him and His Word of Grace, this Power of God will flow from you with ease in an increased measure, markedly as His joy and gladness!
Therefore, “Rejoice”!

The saddest thing to me is that very few Baptists in America are Baptist anymore. It seems the vast majority have become more dominionist/Puritan/Old Covenantalist than truly like Roger Williams, their American founder.
Give almost any movement enough time, and it invariably becomes the opposite of what its founders sacrificed to make it be.

MOST southern Baptists are not dominionists – some of the big names are. Most are semi-pelagian dispensationalists who want to please man more than God. But a good remnant are God fearing men who shrink back not from preaching the whole counsel of the living Lord.
Drake has long gone off the deep end. He uses his pulpit for his own personal agendas. Such as “boycotting Disneyland” for employing gays…..and his latest escapade, trying to prove that the President is an “illegal alien”. Drake seems to suffer from a mental illness named “narcissistic personality disorder”. People who suffer from this illness have symptoms such as delusions of grandeur. He seems to believe that acting like an insane person will get him fame. But he is only making a spectacle of himself. I feel sorry for his family. He has become an embarrassment to the FSBC. Maybe at one time his ideas about helping the homeless were positive and helpful. But he has turned his pulpit into a circus. His church services are no longer religious, but more political. And some people have been thrown out of the church physically for dissenting out loud. And there are a lot of O.C. citizens who dissent over his insane beliefs. If he’d use his position for the good of mankind, instead of for his own personal agendas, he night be doing a service to Orange County. But he isn’t. He should go back to Arkansas where his racism and hick ways are accepted. Because most of the citizens in O.C. think he is crazy and needs to be institutionalized.
