US Christian Radio Station Spreads “Obama’s Grandmother was his Mother” Theory

“These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. ” Proverbs 6:16-19

“And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. ” James 3:6

“A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly” Proverbs 21:28

Well, this shouldn’t surprise me, for I saw an earlier article re-posted last night at World Net “Nut” Daily (Obama mama), the home of Joseph Farah and his band of insane conspiracy “journalists”.  This may not sound very ‘Christian’ of me…but I’m going to tell you if this was my Mother [and Grandma] they were making all these wild insinuations about, I might just have to make a personal visit to the offices of WND and Crosstalk. And it wouldn’t be pleasant visit for either of them.

From, Bartholomew’s Notes on Religion

Crosstalk is a Christian radio programme described as a ministry of “VCY America“, “VCY” standing for “Voice of Christian Youth”. According to a blurb on its website:

Crosstalk covers the issues that affect our world, our nation, our families and the Christian church from a perspective centered in the Word of God. Whether we discuss the economy, the political scene, the continuing moral collapse of our nation, legislation that affects the family, or the state of evangelicalism, our authority is found in the unchanging standard of the Holy Scriptures. Veteran co-hosts Dr. Vic Eliason, Jim Schneider, and Ingrid Schlueter have worked as a team for over 20 years to bring solid information to the body of Christ.

This “solid information” now includes the remarkable conspiracy  theory that Madelyn Dunham was the true mother of Barack Obama, and that her daughter Ann colluded in a cover-up by pretending to be the one who gave birth. The theory is propounded by a studio guest, Joseph Farah; curiously, despite running WorldNetDaily (which the Crosstalk website describes, absurdly, as “the world’s leading independent Internet news source”), this is the only outlet where Farah has chosen to discuss the conspiracy:

Well, Madelyn Dunham is a very interesting person.  As you know, Barack … the … and I want to be careful when he identify people as “mother,” “father,” “grandmother,” and so forth because honestly I don’t think we know with any certainty whatsoever who those players are in Barack Obama’s life. And perhaps he doesn’t either. I suspect he does, but it’s possible he doesn’t know. And it is entirely within the realm of possibility that Madelyn Dunham was his mother and there’s a lot of circumstantial evidence to suggest that.

Scratch another ‘once reliable’ Christian website from my list, CrossTalk radio.

Once a ministry cannot tell truth from outrageous conspiracy theories, or does not understand that broadcasting conspiracy theories, such as this, is bearing false witness, I can no longer trust them to present the truth on other matters; like more important matters concerning the faith, doctrine, etc.

I find this totally disgusting…

  1. This does disturb me.

I occassionally view WND, maybe once or twice a month. Mostly to see what kooky theories are being proffered. One look at the side ads alone tells one all that one needs to know about WND. It is the National Enquirer stilted toward a psuedochristian reader base.

WND is an outlet for formenting mostly false fears, preying upon the generally biblically illiterate conspiracy-theory Americana mongers, as if a real christian, engaged in real spiritual warfare, does not have enough real battles to fight in the strength of our gracious God and Savior.

Some places, such as You-Tube, offer the page administrator no options as to what ads will be displayed. Not so with WND. So I ask: do godly people, seeking to inform believers of unbiased news in truth need to advertise the sale of je$u$ junk, hand-to-hand combat lessons, and body sculpting techniques? Is that really what a slave of Christ should spend the money God grants them on?

Don’t get me started about Joseph Farah.

  2. I can only wonder what the slander will be by the time 2012 election is here.

  3. I was not surprised at Farah and WND, but i was taken aback that CrossTalk co-hosts Dr. Vic Eliason, Jim Schneider, and Ingrid Schlueter, aired such a program.

One in which they joined in with theorizing about 2 women, both dead, based on speculations by the likes of Joseph Farah; who definitely has developed bats in his belfry.

There is more i could [and want to] say–but wisdom tells me to say no more.

  4. Ingrid has been on leave from the program for quite some time now and may choose not to return as she is a proud mom to a new baby girl. She still contributes occasionally to Slice, but her son, Sam, has taken that responsiblity on for the time being. She, I do not believe, had anything to do with this programming regarding Obama’s parentage.

I have found the programs at VCR very helpful on various topics. I think listeners can use discernment and turn the program off if it offends them. I pick and choose what topics I listen to…that goes for all kinds of media I ingest…Christian and secular alike. I don’t think there is any one program or website, including this one, that I approve of the content or find helpful to me 100% of the time. Are these people at VCY deliberately spreading falsehoods and thereby, sinning, or are they possibly sincere in their concerns? How do you know for certain the motives of Mr. Farah and Vic Eliason? I am speaking with sincerity and am not against anyone here in their particular opinion. If you honestly feel their programming is unchristian, that they are damaging the body of Christ, fomenting hysteria, etc., then the thing to do would be to contact them personally and let your valid concerns be known. At least hear what they have to say in their defense of this type of programming. Have you done that? I guess I will remain neutral…just watch as events unfold and we will see what the truth is. I am not a conspiracy nut or a Biblically illiteral person. VCY has blessed me in the past and I will not throw the baby out with the bathwater….not yet anyway. I listen to what is helpful and turn off what is not..same as with any other media. I make choices and I am glad I still have the freedom to do that.

      I did that wearymom…

How do you know for certain the motives of Mr. Farah and Vic Eliason?

Concerning Farah, all anyone has to do is check his front page, now, when it updates at midnight over a few months time.

I began going to WND every day about 6-7 years ago. The change which has occurred at it, especially in the last year, has been down right spooky. Its turned into nothing more then a conspiracy ‘rag’…and they post wild conspiracy theories as ‘truth’. I find that very disturbing because Farah has always claimed to be a Christian.

Most all Christians i know through the internet, who once relied upon WND for truthful news items, no longer do Wearymom. Its not just me…

As far as those at CrossTalk radio–well, they present themselves as ‘watchmen’. When someone who claims to be a watchman over the church body, refers to a ‘news org’ such as WND as:

“the world’s leading independent Internet news source”

And has as a guest, someone spouting on the air, such theories as the one above, i have to seriously question their discernment.

And if i do that, on what is such an obvious issue, then im no longer going to take heed to other things they say, concerning other more important issues concerning the body of Christ.

Jesus said we will know them by their fruit–amen?

    • This is disturbing, but to be honest, not surprising.

  5. WND didn’t surprise me, but the idea that CrossTalk radio allowed him air-time to spout this garbage did. I was disappointed…
