When the Gospel isn’t the Gospel (2)

Please check out Polycarp’s post, Steven Anderson brings the Gospel of Hate to PrimeTime

God’s word says:

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; …For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2: 1,3-4

“You have heard that it was said, `You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” Matthew 5:43-48

Nope. I’m not gonna pray for his good. I’m going to pray that he dies and goes to hell. When I go to bed tonight, that’s what I’m going to pray. And you say, ‘Are you just saying that?’ No. When I go to bed tonight, Steven L. Anderson is going to pray for Barack Obama to die and go to hell.  (Pastor Steve Anderson from the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Arizona)

The same God who instituted the death penalty for murders is the same god who instituted the death penalty for rapists and for homosexuals, sodomites and queers! That’s what it was instituted for, okay? That’s God, he hasn’t changed. Oh, God doesn’t feel that way in the New Testament … God never “felt” anything about it, he commanded it and said they should be taken out and killed. 1. How great is the condemnation, Pj, when we add nothing to the Gospel.

  2. I wonder if that guy can say “Jesus died for my sins, so I don’t have to” with a straight face. Or – the next step – “Jesus died for your sins, so you don’t have to”. And – the next step – the same to a homosexual.

    *sigh*

  3. “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”

When there is hate in the heart it will eventually come out in our words. This pastor is a prime example of a heart filled with hate and self righteousness.

I don’t know if these type of so-called Christians were always around, but just more hidden, but it sure seems they are coming out more boldly and openly today.

What is equaling disturbing is the fact that few Christians speak out against them. This tells me that there are many MANY Christians, who silently agree with them. Their silence on the matter speaks volumes.

  4. In a lot of cases, I think that the problem is that people don’t know their Bibles well enough to speak out against them.

This guy says that homosexuality and abortion are sins, and so since Pres. Obama supports both, he must be evil and from there everything follows.

People don’t look any deeper because they don’t know enough. Part of that is because TV and radio preachers don’t teach any deeper, and the political hacks who use God’s Name (in vain, most of them) are certainly not teaching about grace and love.

    • People don’t look any deeper because they don’t know enough.

Wickle, there are times i wonder if they want to know…

We even as Christians grab hold of teachings [or preachers] who speak to us–in other words, who/whatever speaks to what is in our heart. Sometimes hidden…

We’ll ‘amen’ them and their teachings because its what we want to hear. If its prosperity teachers, it speaks to our greed or feelings of entitlement as Christians. Those who follow after these dominionist power seeking teachers like those in the NAR are seeking personal power and authority, etc.

I may be wrong, but i think those who amen guys like this preacher above, believe he’s preaching truth because he speaks to the anger and even hate [towards others] they have in their own heart.

      What do u think?

  5. PJ – do you think someone should challenge ole Steve? I mean, fly to Tempe, Youtube the whole thing, and actually witness to his the Gospel?

    • Joel,

I think Christians should challenge this guy in any way they can!

It would be great if Christians who are able would fly out to Tempe, and face this guy and his congregation with the truth; that being he and any who follow him, are operating NOT in the Spirit of Jesus Christ but have been POSSESSED with the spirit of satan himself.

And let the local news stations put that on TV!

I am so sick of these people making the news… what an ugly blight they are, on the body of Christ.

I’d be happy to see Christians openly denouncing this guy and those like him. You have, why don’t others?
