Uganda has been in the news a lot lately. Do you think God is trying to get the Church’s attention?
Below is a letter sent out by Andrew Strom today..
But also related is the recent post, Uganda’s President Named in Washington DC Cult, “The Family”.
Even if you read it previously I hope you will check it out again to read a comment left by Vicki, for she has lived and worked in Uganda. Also, Kizito George Michael, at Yesu Mulungi Ministries has an article up tonight concerning the recent legislation introduced in Uganda and which is being supported by certain Pastors, which calls for the execution of homosexuals and the sever punishment for those who are aware of someone practicing homosexuality and fails to report it immediately.
Between these stories and the letter below, two crises - one Nation, I sense in my spirit it is time to diligently begin praying for our brethren in Uganda.
WORLDWIDE CRISIS in THE CHURCH
-by Andrew Strom
I only began to truly understand the magnitude of this crisis on my recent trip to Uganda. I have ministered in Nigeria many times, but I had always thought Nigeria was a special case – that the awful poison I saw there had not spread so far in other places.
Uganda opened my eyes.
The whole of Africa is being infected. And I mean on an epidemic scale. An utter destruction of truth, a complete undermining of the words of Jesus, a total loss of the pure milk of the word. Greed and corruption and “prosperity” lies are laying waste to it all on a vast scale.
It is so difficult to put into words the horror of what is happening in the Third World.
These are Revival countries – where God had been moving in great power. They are nations full of the simple and the poor – who often make the most devoted lambs of Jesus. And now I feel like we are seeing the “rape” of these precious Third World Christians by a vast army of corrupted charlatans who call them-selves “God’s preachers”.
Leaders by the thousand who have been utterly ruined by the greed-inducing lies of Western Christian media. And now they are ravaging God’s precious sheep.
This is not a small problem – it is enormous. Right across the continents of Africa and Asia and South America – where God has been moving the most – we find this gospel of greed beginning to utterly dominate the church – particularly in the big cities. In many places it is difficult to find pastors or leaders who are not gorging themselves with it.
We are talking about corruption and sickness on such a scale that I do not believe the like of it has been seen since the days of Constantine.
This is a crisis unlike almost any other that the church has known.
Just this week I got an email from a pastor in Puerto Rico who wrote
the following:
“The prosperity and WOF false gospel has made extensive damage to the local Pentecostal/Charismatic church. Nowadays WOF theology is the “standard theology” heard on Christian media (radio, music and TV). A Spanish-speaking subsidiary of TBN called ENLACE is spread all over Latin America with the name-and-claim-it ‘gospel’…”
Another man from Nigeria wrote to me:
“When I heard your message, especially about the report of the church in Nigeria, you were right on the money… This money gospel has reshaped and taken over Christianity in Nigeria totally, and it saddens my heart… You agree with me that it’s a major crisis in Lagos. Everything is about money and you seem a fool when you talk against it… “leadership, money, increase.” So many, all over Africa.”
On one trip to Nigeria I stayed in the home of a pastor of a large church there. He had two brand-new Mercedes parked in the driveway as well as a new Lexus SUV. Inside was a 10-foot wide Plasma television with Satellite TV. And such things are not uncommon at all in the larger churches of Africa. In fact, more and more it is being seen as “normal”.
And how do they get all this money?
By manipulating the poor, precious lambs of Jesus, of course. Screwing it out of a people who live in poverty the like of which you and I can hardly imagine. You should see the “offerings” these gentlemen take up – so manipulative it could almost make you physically sick.
And where did they learn all these “money tricks”? Why – from U.S Christian television, of course! And then they multiply it by 100.
So what is to be done about all this? Has it already become so ingrained that it is hopeless trying to turn it around? Is the amount of money being spent on television by these sharks so great that the Truth simply can’t compete?
These are very good questions.
As I said in a previous article, we have to make a personal choice in this crisis between Despair and ‘Resolve’. We can either sink down in despair, or “Resolve” to stand and fight for the Truth and for the precious lambs of God. I have to take heart in the fact that Jesus says HE is the one who builds His Church – and the gates of hell will not prevail against her.
I believe God has a plan – and it is a plan that involves you and me – and everyone else who knows the Truth and is willing to fight for it. We are Christ’s Ambassadors and He has a special mission for us – just like in every similar crisis down through history. All we have to do is stand and speak.
God will do the rest.
I love the example of David who came to Israel during a similar emergency. When he saw that the Israelites were faced by a taunting, God-mocking Philistine named Goliath he did not go aside to hold committee meetings – or even to pray for several days before acting. His heart was stirred within him and he cried,
“What shall be done to the man that kills this Philistine, and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Sa 17:26).
This is the reaction that God is looking for. It is a heart response birthed out of a kind of “holy indignation”. And it results in a courage that stands boldly for Truth – without even thinking about the consequences. It is those who have this “holy indignation” that God is wanting to use in these last days. The crisis is severe.
Who will stand for righteousness and truth?
Only those who, like David, have drawn close to God and feel His heart. God’s eyes are roaming the earth, seeking such ones to stand for Him at this very moment.
May we all be part of the solution to this crisis, my friends. May we all – under the anointing of the Holy Spirit – simply stand and start declaring God’s Truth into this situation. Simple fearless courage is still one of the few things on this earth that makes the devil tremble.
It still only takes “five small stones.” The time to ‘quit ourselves like men’ has come – to gird ourselves for war. The eternal destiny of millions of Jesus’ precious sheep hangs in the balance.
Will we respond?
Andrew Strom - http://www.revivalschool.com
I have a question that I wonder if someone here can answer. Maybe someone like Vicki that has been in Africa?
Andrew Strom speaks of great revivals going on in Africa that are now being very seriously damaged by WOF teaching. What I am wondering is, is he correct in saying that there were great revivals going on there before the WOF doctrine came in and polluted it all? It has been my understanding from other articles that I have read elsewhere that the revival talked about in Africa has actually been in the setting of the WOF preaching. I can’t remember where I read that, it has been some time ago. But whoever wrote it was concerned that the revival may not be genuine at all because the WOF doctrines so pollute God’s word that genuine conversions may not necessarily result from it’s preaching.
Does any one know what the truth of this matter is? Or is it maybe some of both?
I just ran across this article:
http://www.yesumulungi.com/index.php/apostasy-watch/376-lee-grady-charisma-balokole-ism-and-false-african-revivals.html
I believe this is the same web site you referenced above PJ. The author of this article says very bluntly that there is no current revival going on in Uganda or East Africa–only a false one. The real one died out in the 80′s according to this man.

Here is a link to a story in the Ugandan newspaper “The Daily Monitor” which is not the official governement- friendly paper the New Vision. The report outlines some issues about Musevini’s handling of the Acholi debacle of the last 20 years.
Some christian voices in the US trumpet Museveni as a “Christian” president, and his government as an example of the dominionist type of christian government God supposedly commands us to “advance.”
I’m sorry I cannot comment firsthand much about the church in Uganda outside the war zone. I can say that in my brief driving from the capital, Kampala, there are more “Christian” missions and churches than you can imagine. I do daily read the Ugandan newspapers, and frequent the Yesu Mulingi site, and have met a third wave type pastor from a large Port Royal church who was in the USA.
I was working and living in the warzone, that is Acholiland, and only briefly. At that time no outsiders were there except humanitarian aid agencies, and they basically stayed in the main city of Gulu and only ventured into the camps during daytime. I was priviledged to be one of the first American woman staying in the camps and working alongside the people in teaching ox-powered farming, at that wonderful time when peace had just settled and the people were able to begin returning to their home lands.
By now, I imagine many more westerners are going into the bush region, and I fear bringing in apostate and aberrent stuff. My heart is for the Acholi people and that they know Jesus in truth, innocence, and cleannes of spirit.
Thanks Vicki…
Ok I am from South Africa. And even I did not know this. There is WAY more to this Ugandan story…
http://www.discerningtheworld.com/2009/12/01/ugandas-new-apostolic-reformation-transformation-disaster/
Sorry I am posting a link, I don’t like to do that, but for Africa and South Africa as a whole this is bad news.
I have been speaking on my blog or should I say arguing ‘nicely’ with emergents who seek a new way of Christianity something that any sane person can easily tell is socialism. They of course will not agree with this.
The satanic spirit of happiness that is spreading over the world is so intense that they (Christians) will kill you for Christ and justify their actions as being good – removing evil from the earth – taking dominion.
The one world religion however is not really a religion. Emergent thinking is to deconstruct Christianity, go back to an old way of thinking which is paganism.
The one world religion will be ‘you’. You will be the religion. You will be god. You will be the gospel.
The Family of The Fellowship is beyond my comprehension at this point in time. This also has far reaching implications into the distribution of aids drugs in Africa. There has been no noticeable distribution of aids drugs. The % of HIV has increased to the point that some countries 4 out of 5 people are infected.
Now I do not for one second condone homosexuality, and murder is murder, see my article here where one of Brian McLaren’s little agents here in SA challenged me to write an article on the Ugandan Bill – at the time I did not even know about it. Brian McLaren got an article from me all right, but not what he expected. http://www.discerningtheworld.com/2009/11/25/bbrian-mclaren-thinks-again-on-stuff/
Now we know what the end times is going to be like. Horror! Because this is what God told us is going to happen. None of these people, WoF, NAR, The Family, Latter Rain, etc, etc, etc are Christian. Not one! But they call themselves Christian and use Jesus’ name. They will shout Peace and Safety, call for Unity in Diversity. Love everyone. But given the chance they will slaughter you and not batter an eyelid. And they are doing it already, just look at Abortion. If a babies life, an innocent life that can’t defend itself can be so easily murdered, what on earth makes adults think their lives are so precious as not to be harmed by these people who kill babies.
What next? Withhold your chronic medicine because of some glitch – what can you do about it? We have been coded with medical codes. Get rid of the ones who are least godlike due to illness. Pffff, weak humans.
But Jesus Christ told us He would protect us. Our Blessed Hope in these perilous times. I watch and pray. I rely on Him daily. And He is coming back soon.
There is NO Revival of any kind anywhere in Africa. If anyone says there is in South Africa, send them my way I will just slap them over the head (gently of course). It’s all a lie. Filling a stadium with people means nothing as we all know.
Andrew Strom is a NAR. Anyone who can even for one second think of the world ‘revival’ in these days has got to be non-Christian because the BIBLE CLEARLY TELLS US OTHERWISE. So they either speak from another spirit or from the Holy Spirit – NO IN BETWEEN.
What is happening now is the NAR are trying to expose Emergents, WoF are trying to expose the NAR, Emergents are trying to expose the NAR and WoF. All the while genuine Christians are caught in the middle and being called fundamentalists by all 3.
But NAR, WoF and Emergents all lead to one basic idea that man can be god. All of them they are so blinded by deception they don’t even know what they really believe.
Roman Catholicism was the first well organised socialistic regime – kill all those who don’t agree with you or look peasant like in the name of GOD. (yes we know it was not Jesus Christ the Son of God).
We are going right back there, to this place. In fact we are there already. The roots of NAR, WoF and Emergent is ROME.

Oh bla bla bla, spoken like a true NAR emerging into a socialist.
Gosh do I sound like I am in a bad mood today. Hmmm…ok I think I need to get some sugar into my system. I have had information overload today…and I think I need a break for all this for a few hours.
Jan is correct, Andrew definitely isn’t involved with the New Apostolic Reformation. During the lakeland debacle he spoke out publicly against it and its leaders a lot.
Perhaps you have him mixed up with someone else???
The Family mentioned in Kato Mivule’s article is a Washington DC based Christian group of politicians who has apparently been involved in Uganda for some time.

If my memory is correct, Andrew Strom was at one point very much a part of the prophetic movement but as he saw all the problems involved, he backed off a lot. However, he does, or at least did at the time I read this, still believe in the world wide huge revival that the prophetic movement and the NAR, etc. believe in.
Andrew Strom spoke at the revival conference I went to in Wales. His sermon is on sermon index if you go to conference downloads and click Wales. btw all the speakers are worth listening to. I see that sermon index are promoting David Legge’s sermon – Gods new thing. That’s worth listening to esp. if we get so “discerned out” that we can’t see good in anything. Anyway Andrew Strom’s website bears out that he is not NAR and in his sermon in Wales he said essentially that the poor of the earth are being destroyed by infiltration of the prosperity gospel teachings in Uganda and elsewhere mostly through preachers watching it on TV. They look at the west and think that teaching must be right because we are prosperous. He seems to be speaking from the heart.
Thank you , Discern the World. It is good to hear from the folks that actually live there.

God’s new thing? He has something new? I had no idea. What can be better than Jesus Christ the Son of God?
>> if we get so “discerned out” that we can’t see good in anything.
ohhh, so just allow a little leaven in, nothing serious.
>> in his sermon in Wales he said essentially that the poor of the earth are being destroyed by infiltration of the prosperity gospel teachings in Uganda and elsewhere mostly through preachers watching it on TV
If you take a step back and just take a look at the new movement that’s taken over you will notice a subtle socialist message.
Prosperity gospel teachers are not destroying the poor, good grief. SIN destroys everyone (rich and poor).
This whole rich poor thing is part and parcel of what the Emergent church teaches. Capitalism is the cause of the worlds problems. So we need a new way of doing things.
There is A LOT MORE to this than just prosperity gospel preachers.
did you listen to David Legge Deborah?
>> Andrew Strom is a NAR.
>> Jan is correct, Andrew definitely isn’t involved with the New Apostolic Reformation. During the lakeland debacle he spoke out publicly against it and its leaders a lot.
>> Perhaps you have him mixed up with someone else???
Nope, he is part of the prophetic movement, he just hides it well – he now leans more toward the emergent side of things. During Todd Bentley’s days Andrew Strom spoke out yes, but at the same time spoke prophetically on other things and had revival fire messages all over the front page of his website.
Btw PJ, I have been reading your blog for 2 years now. I’ve seen a noticeable change on your website and a slight change in direction to wards the desert fathers. why? Even 1 toe in Roman Catholicism is dangerous.
I don’t follow what you mean…
Vicki
>> I can say that in my brief driving from the capital, Kampala, there are more “Christian” missions and churches than you can imagine
I see you put “Christian” in inverted commas. How come? Of all those missions and churches, how many would you say were genuinely Christian?
Africa is very much influenced by Catholic and Anglican churches (who preach another Jesus). And then you have the WoF missions (who preach another Jesus). Then you have the Emergent missionaries (who preach another Jesus Christ) Then you have the NAR (who preach another Jesus). and then you have the Methodists (who preach another Jesus). And then you have the baptists that were doing pretty ok holding onto the gospel until were they now (also preach another Jesus).
So missions, churches, christian camps, church plants, christian community projects, what does this all mean exactly and where is it leading too?
