Clip put together by Youth for Jesus. You can listen to the complete Sermon at Sermon Audio (Great sermon folks..im listening now)
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

"If the professed convert distinctly and deliberately declares that he knows the Lord's will but does not mean to attend to it, you are not to pamper his presumption, but it is your duty to assure him that he is not saved. Do not suppose that the Gospel is magnified or God glorified by going to the worldlings and telling them that they may be saved at this moment by simply accepting Christ as their Savior, while they are wedded to their idols, and their hearts are still in love with sin. If I do so I tell them a lie, pervert the Gospel , insult Christ, and turn the grace of God into lasciviousness."

That is the most hard-hitting video I have ever seen.
It stopped me in my tracks to seriously search my own heart, which is no bad thing.
I have come such a long, long, way, but I cry from my heart tonight “Jesus, lover of my soul, take me deeper into you – search me and know me, and if there be any wicked way in me………………………”
At the judgment seat of Christ, immediately following the Son of Man coming in the glory of His Father with His angels (Mat. 16:27), Jesus will sit on the throne of His glory and separate the tares (goats) from the wheat (sheep). (Mat. 24-25) All who denied the Lord by practicing lawlessness will be cast into Hades, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Mat. 13:39-43, John 5:29) All who received glorified bodies at His coming will enter into the New Jerusalem to be married to the Lamb of God. (Rev. 21:9-10)
Wow, another You Tube attempt at twisting your emotions so as to make you get straightened around with the Lord. Booming deep preaching voices with fiery backdrops don’t get the job done for me. It’s the small inter voice that speaks the volume and volumes to me. While productions such as Heavens gates and Hells flames make a sincere try to scare you into the kingdom in the long run is it not “knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance”?
This is put out by Youth for Christ aimed at the young people. Sad! I have attended many Churches that talked harshly and angrily at the youth at times with such statements as “get your act together young people, what’s wrong with you”!!! Made me ache inside. Youth don’t need to be chided or scared into the Kingdom, they need mature men and women of God to lead them by example, (few and far between unfortunately). They certainly don’t need some angry old preacher yelling at them. Seen too much of this over the years to believe it accomplishes much of anything positive.
Amen. You said it. The Truth in Love…and if the True Gospel is preached…the Holy Spirit does the job….and no one can ‘git ‘er done like Him.
Friend, Yell or no Yell, the guy is speaking pure truth! I am a young person myself, and really its nothing about what the young people need, they don’t need any preacher or anything of the sort, they need God! You say harsh preaching..what do you expect the guy to do ? have you seen the state of the world today? Its even difficult to walk out of your house and not lust because the ladies have refused to put proper clothes on, and you really think they need some one to plead with them to come to christ! If you had a child and she was blind and going towards the end of a cliff would you appreciate some one asking them nicely to please not jump or would you apreciate the guy who screams jumps and hold that child back and says stop! with the urgency required ?
And the reason you stated above is the reason we have so much false converts! Because people are no more convicted of their sins, God is not pleased with sinners, he is angry at sinners! and untill they come to repentance biblically they are not children of God and indeed the direct opposite.
My friend, Ask God to search your heart and reveal to you the depth and emergency of the current situation of our nation and children and family.
I a youth myself say all I need is God, and before you open your mouth to brand a man of God as trying to scare people into salvation or anything of the sort you need to remember that the spirit gives utterance.
Do you really think jesus kindly spoke to people and pleaded with them to come to salvation ? he didn’t have a mic how did he preach to the multitudes of people ?
You talk about scaring away? is this scary compared to Jesus telling the rich man to go and throw sell all his things if he wants to follow him ?
Or
Jesus telling the people that they must hate their mother, and father and brothers and sisters if they want to bury him? Or Jesus saying Let the Dead Bury the Dead ?
I mean from what you have written all I can see is that you could very well possibly have branded jesus as harsh and chasing people away because of the way he spoke and not considering the words he spoke.
If at all you have been saved by grace then deeply considered these things I have said to you, as you know in revelation 3:16 it says because you are neither hot nor cold I would spew you out. My friend there is no room in Gods kingdom for medium. or semi Hot. and there definitely isn’t any room for people wanting to take this word anything less than serious and this war anything less than deadly, each time i find myself struggling with sin it is a realisation that the devil is out to kill, and being meek or soft would only mean you going to a war of guns and bombs with a table knife, hence the bible says the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violence taketh it by force.
I pray the lord will speak to you and search your heart as well as mine.
God bless You.
I hope you guys will listen to the sermon. It’s really powerful preaching!
After during a search on Albert N. Martin, he appears to be very much loved and respected by other preachers. Even John MacArthur said he was one of the best preachers of the truth around. LOL… That made me chuckle knowing it was really high praise because A.N. Martin is a reformed baptist.
Martin stepped down in 08 after pastoring 46 years at Trinity Baptist in Montville, NJ.
I feel like i found a gem today! Sermon Audio has 480 of his sermons:

Solar, did you ever listen to Paul Washer’s sermon given at a youth conference?
This is the youth message Paul Washer preached in 2002
I sat my boys down and had them listen to Paul’s sermon a few years back. Excellent!! For me there is a world of difference between the two videos. I don’t dismiss that there are some that this first video will speak to and touch, even change their lives. But fear tactics have never been tops on my list in ways of doing business for the Lord.
My wife got saved by reading a Chick tract over 20 years ago from a scary tract on heaven and hell. Scared her into the kingdom and she feared God, but it was a fear that was misapplied and keep her bound for way too long. God was terrifying to her instead of a God who revealed Himself as in Exodus.
“And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.”
She understood the last part but had a hard time getting the first part in place.
Seems I find that believers have enough self induced fears to work through without adding a dose from slick production media. The Father will make them fearful Himself when the heart of the believer gets a good glimpse of who He really is!! The fear of God is the beginning of knowledge. Let it be revealed by the Father, not Hollywood!
Solar, you listen to ‘that still small voice’. That is wonderful and so do I, always. But you know, it is no bad thing to hear the reality of the truth in this format sometimes, to draw our attention from the ‘gentle Jesus meek and mild’ bit that seeks to pacify us and appease self.
The gospel IS an offense and a challenge. A hard hitting video like this has indeed affected many a soul into changing direction.
The new breed of christian is being lulled into a false state of utopia by deception. I see it daily. Oh thank God for the ‘wake up call’ this type of preaching delivers.
You and I may have nothing to fear, but if only one person has been affected by this video, and called out to God for TRUE salvation, it was worht it. Amen.
R of T, I do try to listen to that still small voice but unlike you I can not say always!! I do my best but oh boy, I’m not there yet. The gospel is an offense and a challenge no doubt. The message of the Kingdom comes with both a booming voice and a voice of “I bid you come”. Both are needed and both should be discerned.
Lately I have come to see the value of the later voice having a far more profitable outcome for me then the former voice. It appears to bring better and lasting results then all the scare tactics can muster. Maybe because I have raised four boys and seen how each technique has played out on them. I have and still will use both techniques but the former is reserved for very select times and I am careful how it is used.
I do have to disagree with one thing you said and that being that there is a new breed of Christian being lulled by deception. Church history has reveled that there really is nothing new at all under the sun. Kim Clement, for example, is nothing new. He just carries on a long legacy of past false teachers and prophets that have strayed from the mark. Lord if we could only learn from the past and stop repeating histories shipwrecks.
Amen amen!!
If i had read your comment first RoT, i could have saved myself from writing the comment [below] ahahaha…
You summed it up wonderfully!
I was able to watch the WRATH OF GOD video well enough, and although I could agree with the substance of what was preached, I’m not convinced that type of video (scary, threatening images) is seasoned with the grace and mercy of God that quickens the unregenerate soul, therefore I cannot fully applaud the video.
There’s a profound need to deliver the gospel in a balanced way (mind you, I’m not a big fan of the word “balanced,” as I believe in Divine order instead, but it fits here) where the love and kindness of God is portrayed by way of Jesus Christ appearing, and the severity of God, as expounded upon in Romans 11.
Good theology will hold the strands of truth in tension and the heart of man will find safety and security in the net of God. People are suffering from a lack of the true gospel. The real good news. I think Paul Washer does an exceptional job, in plain attire, of setting forth the plain truth, mixed with mercy and fear. He’s a strong preacher, and tells it like it is.
Sadly, the youth of our nation and youth the world over are the fallout generation, broken beyond belief. I was one of them. The majority of them are fatherless, even if they have fathers, and so many have been polluted by religion and hype. But I don’t believe even the most powerful videos will help save the youth. Their effect is short-lived at best, if effective at all. I’m not saying God cannot use them, but if I bow my head and remember what it was that moved me to turn to God, it was the grace and goodness of God through the love of another, and the arms of a mother (not my own) and the words of an anointed man of God who loved me enough to tell me the truth, plainly, but in love.

This sort of demonstrates a huge problem in our midst. We need strong Bible based preaching. But we also need the church. The body of Christ has been so deemphasized in our independent, individualist society where everything is about a personal relationship with Christ, that we no longer have a caring community to model the Christian life for us in a way that is spiritually supportive and spiritually healing. On the one side we have the Bible thumping crowd and on the other we have the freak show and on yet another we have the market driven church with all of its self help remedies and then of course we have the get rich quick preachers. Where is the New Testament church where one can find true fellowship? Faithful preaching is good IF it is coupled with a caring community of Christians that are living out their faith. Part of the problem is that the church in general has dumped aside every remnant of tradition and liturgy. They have become anathema to the point that everything that would guide us in Christ has been dumped out and what is left is a sterile environment that could not even support the life of a cockroach. Thus believers are in a constant search for a living faith and many are, in the process, snared by charlatans. A fruitful Christian life requires more than Bible reading and preaching. It requires a vibrant church community. That is why the scripture admonishes us not to neglect fellowship and why the scripture also reassures us that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. And this is not referring to a virtual church, but a physical and real church manifested in changed lives and caring community with a liturgy that brings faith to life and constantly reminds us of who we are and brings us into the life giving presence of God. All of this is sadly lacking in our world of do it yourself Christianity.
Let me just say that I understand some of Solar’s concerns on this issue. I have seen to many people who have been “scared saved” and that salvation has not proved durable. It is really important to understand that salvation is about far more than simply escaping hell. In fact, I would say that if a person’s only concern is about escaping hell, they are going to end up there. Salvation is about a relationship with God Himself and nothing less. The scriptures have warnings of course, and we need to faithfully proclaim those warnings. But we also need to make clear to people that being part of the kingdom of God involves more than just a one time “decision for Christ” or simply a fear of God. The demons fear, but that does not save them. Salvation is a lifetime commitment to faith and the working out of that faith in our lives. So while there IS a place for this type of preaching, it needs to be within a larger IMMEDIATE context and that is especially true in the case of evangelism. Fear is important but it is not a particularly good motivator. The “Sinners in the hands of an angry God” approach often results in hypocrisy and impure motives. The church has gone through a long period where the fear of God has been sadly neglected, but we need to be careful not to let things swing back the other way too far, since that can be equally damaging.
I especially concur with Solar regarding his comments about tracts. I regard the scary ones laced with apocalyptic themes particularly ineffective over the long term. I much prefer to hand someone a gospel of John. The dramatic quick sell method works fine for selling used cars and such, but not so well in bringing people to God. It represents part of what is wrong in the church these days.
George,
as I read your comments two Scripture stories come to mind.
Both of them brought a sort of anguish to the soul, as this sermon does.
To the one group, they entered into that relationship you speak about because of the message.
To the other, the man never fully was able to get out of the power holding him to the ways of the world. Or, at least there is no intimation that he finally repented and came to saving Faith and an Apostolic fellowship with Christ Christians are called to live out in this temporal life:::>
Act 2:37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Act 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Act 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”
Act 2:40 And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”
Act 2:41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.
and
Act 24:22 But Felix, having a rather accurate knowledge of the Way, put them off, saying, “When Lysias the tribune comes down, I will decide your case.”
Act 24:23 Then he gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but have some liberty, and that none of his friends should be prevented from attending to his needs.
Act 24:24 After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.
Act 24:25 And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.”
Act 24:26 At the same time he hoped that money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him.
Act 24:27 When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And desiring to do the Jews a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.
Michael, I agree. We all have a choice to make. In both of these cases the Good News is presented along with some warnings. In neither case is there any indication that the message was in any way apocalyptic. It was rather a straight forward and sincere presentation of the Good News of what Christ has done for all and an invitation to participate in that. Some received the message and others didn’t. This is what I see as being normative in scripture. It is the use of apocalyptic themes along with strong emotional manipulation that I have a problem with. I simply think it is counter productive. Obviously many brethren see it as useful. In any case the Holy Spirit is amazing in His ability to use us even with our many shortcomings. I am sure that many do come to the Lord through these apocalyptic approaches. I just think we could do better. Thanks for pointing out these scriptures. – George
Folks,
What i’ve learned is that the Holy Spirit can and does use different types (or forms) of preaching to reach a variety of people. As long as it’s the word being preached, it will not return void..
“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11
For instance the clip above;
2,000 people may end up watching it, and subsequently 4-5 may follow the link and listen to the complete sermon.
Out of that [possible] 4-5, one may reexamine them-self and find they have either strayed from the faith, or never actually possessed salvation. And do something to change that…
That’s all that matters.
I don’t mind being a little shocked into reexamining myself, because like anyone else, i find its needed.
PJ
Can’t agree completely with you on this, but that’s OK, it would be a boring blog if we all agreed on everything!, Ha!! You say as long as the word is being preached, it will not return void. Good scripture but that is not always true at face value. God “breathed” scripture doesn’t return void, man regurgitated verses, memorized, can return void. .
We as believers are so quick to put up our fists and quote scripture to make our point. But so often, I believe the Father is sitting back just shaking His head in disbelief. I live near the Mormon’s Hill Cumorah where Joseph Smith supposedly found the golden tablets. Each year they have a pageant for two weeks. During that time many well meaning believers go to witness to the pageant goers to share the real truth of the gospel.
Unfortunately it has become a three ring circus and Christianity has many times gotten a black eye because of the wrath and passion the believers unleash to try and convert and win the lost Mormons. Many times the anger of the believer has gotten broadcast on the evening news. What a poor witness.
They are quoting lots of important scriptures but sounding like fools in their passion. Does it come back void? I think it can when mishandled in anger. Is it really worth hardening the 99 in the process of saving the one??? Maybe, but I choose to tread lightly and error on the side of compassion and use wrath and judgment statements very carefully!
Not sure we are seeing this all that differently anyway. Emphasis may be a little different but the bottom line is a desire to see the lost reached in the most efficient manor to bring glory to the Lord! Thanks again for letting me think “out loud”!
Amen! ahaha…
Love you Solar
This man, Preacher Martin is one of those bottles of water I drink!
The Spirit of Grace and Truth clearly is speaking through him.
You might find “his” style not to your liking, but if you listen to the whole sermon I am quite convinced the Holy Spirit will make butter from that milk and you will realize what he has, Eternal Life is “knowing” the only True God and Jesus Christ.
We need more preachers like him. Albeit, in this godless world, they will be opposed and persecuted because he tells the Truth like it is.
My flesh, though temporary, deceives me to the “moment” and inclines me away from the Eternal realities of God and His Will.
Let’s face it folks, God is the Eternal One here. Do you want to spend eternity in His Palace, if you do, you will have to die to your self life and accept the Resurrection and the Life of His Only Begotten Son in exchange for it?
If not, you too will “soon” die and go to the next life and to something far more horrible than this preached word!
I have listened to this sermon many times and I am grateful for the clarity and the everpresent focus it brings me to ditch my temporal self and accept gladly His Eternal Self!
Thanks PJ for bringing this one out into the open for your blogger community to accept or reject!
For me, I am accepting it. It is timeless priceless message and has current validity even though he preached the message many years ago.
Certainly, if, through these preachings people are hearing the Word of God and responding to it, that WILL bear fruit. However, if they are only responding on an emotional level, there will be NO good fruit. That is the bottom line. We are not saved by faith in feelings, but only by faith in Christ which comes to us through the hearing of the Word. That is what concerns me about strong emotional appeals.
Let me make something clear here that I did not do so earlier, my bad! I really do like the audio of this sermon. As Michael says “I am quite convinced the Holy Spirit will make butter from that milk “, I like that. What I failed to say is, I don’t like the slick production on the clip nor how it is put together. My arguments were over the clip and not the sermon. That’s all. His preaching is solid and full of life and I wish more could come to the same Christ that has cut through his life! Should have said that earlier.
Solar, I couldn’t have said it better. Thank you, brother!

I have trouble with this beyond the video. That is probably because I have a real problem with revivalist preaching that cuts bits and pieces out of scripture and pastes them together and packs them into an emotional presentation. An example in this particular sermon is the Lord, Lord from Matthew 7. That particular scripture is a reference to false prophets, but this preacher feels free to pull that completely out of its context and paste it together with other scriptures from other contexts in order to address the wickedness he perceives in his audience. I see something inherently dishonest about that. And the Hollywood theatrics of the video and sound effects just amplify the theatrics of the preaching. It really reminds me of a number of preachers I have known who could preach up a storm of condemnation on their parishioners, but whose own lives reeked of moral corruption. I have known some of them personally. Others, like Jimmy Swaggart, are rather widely known. If you all are turned on by shouting and stomping, have at it, but I prefer an approach that relies on the power of the Word and the Spirit to convict hearts, not emotion and theatrics.
Hi George,
I truly appreciate the tenacity of your faith.
And I would agree with your points, as they are well made, but I will also add that there are times that the Spirit of God will anoint a preacher to passionately proclaim the truth, and his voice will have changed pitch and be raised an octave or two. I’m thinking of the likes of men such as Leonard Ravenhill, Paris Reidhead, Alan Redpath, (and more recently) David Wilkerson, Paul Washer, Carter Conlon, etc. who have preached with conviction and a love for the Truth with nary a manipulative bone in their body.
Even when a man is in right standing with God, he can be tempted to wave his hands around in the flesh, and rain down his own fire and brimstone upon the congregation. I recall having heard Paul Washer humbly admit to committing such arrogance earlier on in his ministry. The flesh can get carried away, and in the end, we all know it counts for nothing.
But when the Holy Spirit of God truly thunders, you know it, even if that thunder comes in the form of a whisper. When a man is full of the love of God and the wisdom that is from above, he can get away with saying the most cutting thing, for it is not him who speaks, but God speaking through him. The Word is a hammer, and a fire…it is meant to break and consume. And God has always used men to bear the burden of the word of the Lord.
God bless,
-E
