Someone else may find this interesting.
This six minute video gives excerpts from a mid-1980′s Bill Moyers interview of Rousas John Rushdoony.
Rushdoony was the founder of the Christian Reconstructionist movement. (Christian Reconstructionism in a Nutshell from Bruce Prescott)
PJ,
I can appreciate Rousas John Rushdoony’s sentiment(s). I’m not inclined to agree however with mandates for Biblical morality being sanctioned through a secular vehicle. As things are now, it appears that the moral character of the land resembles mostly that of goats than sheep and that I believe is where the real issue lies.
I could be wrong in my assessment and understanding of the Old Testament however, I haven’t ever understood it as God’s law being administered by a government per se.
It’s my understanding that leadership roles, and kingships, were “icing on the cake” for men such as David, Solomon, Moses etc; the primary factor in my estimation is that their hearts were firstly set on the Lord. Having these Godly men, the Lord then used His agents to carry out His will in a much broader scheme than merely being an “administrator” in their respective places of history.
Thanks for sharing.
Grace and peace be with you.
