Cindy Jacobs: God’s Mercy Depends On How We Vote In 2010

Dominionists, on the move…

She said returning to biblical values and continuing to support Israel will cause the U.S. economy to stabilize and strengthen. As a result of prayer, she said God will send “supernatural solutions … that our natural minds could never reason, nor grasp and they will heal the land.”

Jacobs’ 40-day prayer effort mirrors another campaign a cross-section of Christian leaders are launching in late September. Dubbed Pray and Act, the initiative calls for a 40-day fast from Sept. 20 through Oct. 30. Organizers are calling people to not only pray for the nation but also vote for “righteous” leaders during the midterm elections, and help transform society through compassion ministry and evangelism.

Supporters include such Christian leaders as TheCall founder Lou Engle, evangelical author Charles Colson, Foursquare Church leader Jack Hayford, Teen Mania founder Ron Luce, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention and California pastor Jim Garlow, who called the initiative “a national movement that can save America.”

My response: “Horse-Feathers!”

Anne Rice has renounced Christianity

After hearing about author Anne Rice’s Facebook post yesterday, and reading the subsequent reactions which followed by a number of Christian bloggers, I made up my mind not to post about it.

But Truth Matters has posted an excerpt today from an interesting commentary on the subject which frankly ‘reads’ more like it comes from the heart of a Christian who actually possesses the heart of Christ, then other responses I’ve read elsewhere.

You know, we Christians can be a nasty-sort at times; actually, down right ugly in our snap judgments about others.

If you are unable to read Anne Rice’s Facebook post, the gist of it was;

For those who care, and I understand if you don’t: Today I quit being a Christian. I’m out. I remain committed to Christ as always but not to being “Christian” or to being part of Christianity. It’s simply impossible for me to “belong” to this quarrelsome, hostile, disputatious, and deservedly infamous group. For ten years, I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’m an outsider. My conscience will allow nothing else.

If time allows, check out the commentary posted at Truth Matters: Russell Moore On Anne Rice

And then pray for the lady. For if her impression of Christianity is based solely upon what passes for it today, I can truly and honestly sympathize with her.

The end is not just nigh, it’s in May 2011

The news item below includes a name familiar to those who have read any articles/books concerning failed dates and date-setters…that of Harold Camping.

quote…

Marie Exley of Colorado Springs is convinced that Armageddon, the end of the world as written of in the Bible, will come next year.

Her conviction is so strong that, though unemployed, she’s paid $1,200 to buy advertising space on 10 Springs bus benches through October to get the word out. The ad says, “Save the Date! Return of Christ: May 21, 2011, WeCanKnow.com.”

“I want to do all I can to get the message out,” Exley, 31, said.

Exley got the idea for the ads from listening to Family Radio, a Christian broadcast heard on 55 stations in the United States, including KFRY, 89.9 FM, in Pueblo. It’s hosted by controversial Christian leader Harold Camping.

Camping predicts Christ will return on the date in Exley’s advertisement. Listeners in other states have also purchased outdoor ad space to proclaim the date.

Why do people continue to set dates when they know God’s word plainly says,

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Matt. 25:13

The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for Him, and in an hour that he is not aware of. Matt. 24:50

Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of Man cometh at an hour when ye think not. Luke 12:40

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in Heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Mark 13:22

WND’s “funny” of the day…

It’s no secret to family and friends that the strangest things can cause me to break into laughter. This story is one of those things..

After spending two years doing everything humanly possible, including selling books, renting billboards, and hawking his “where’s the birth certificate” wares in his on-line book store, in an attempt to prove President Obama was NOT born in Hawaii, and thus not a US citizen, Farah has changed tactics.

BORN IN THE USA? Hawaiian birth? Still ineligible

(of course there’s a ‘book’ being offered in WND’s super store to back this claim up for the paltry sum of $19.99)

WND; thanks for the laugh this morning

Randall Terry, “your 15 minutes are up…”

The crazier they are the longer that “15 minutes” of allotted fame seems to last; Or in the case of Terry, infamy.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — A mannequin with a picture of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s face taped to the head was hung in effigy in downtown Greenville by a protester.

Randall Terry, a nationally-known pro-life supporter from Washington, D.C., came with three supporters to tape a portion of his television show called, “Randall Terry: The Voice of the Resistance.”

The anti-abortion activist filmed two skits while in downtown. One of them involved Randall’s employee constructing gallows to hang the mannequin with Graham’s picture on it.

The other skit involved a stick and a pinata. The workers hit the pinata, which had a picture of Graham on it, until plastic babies fell out of it.

Terry said he was upset with Graham’s decision to confirm President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Elena Kagan.

American Patriotic Christianity: A Canadian Perspective

Internet Monk blog has posted a fascinating account consisting of an interview with seven Canadians concerning their perceptions of American Patriotic Christianity, as it is seen by those outside the US.

intro…

This past month we celebrated both Canada Day on July 1st, and Independence Day on July 4th. This inspired some thoughts about getting some Canadian perspectives on “American Patriotic Christianity”. As I am the lone Canadian writer at Internet Monk, I gathered up seven of my Canadian, primarily “unchurched” friends, to get their perspective on the topic. A couple of friends, for personal reasons, asked not to be identified, so I have chosen to refer to all by their initials.

Many of you will find the discussion below stereotypical and offensive. Others may find it enlightening. I would ask that you persevere to the end. After interacting with some of their ideas, I will conclude with some thoughts about the Canadian Church, and how it is impacted by American Christianity…

Will the Temple be Rebuilt?

(Forgive the delay in releasing comments this week and my absence. Its been one of ‘those’ type of weeks)

Moving on to more important subjects…

There have been a few messages already posted here on the topic of a rebuilt temple, but because its such an interesting and controversial topic due to the significance given to it by many Christians who hold-to a specific theology and subsequent eschatological view, I’m always interested in further good solid bible-based teachings on the subject.

From Messianic Good News;

Arutz Sheva reports that half the Israeli public wants the Temple (Beit HaMikdash) to be rebuilt, according to a poll commissioned by the Knesset Television Channel and carried out by the Panels Institute. “The poll was taken in advance of this Tuesday’s national day of mourning, known as Tisha B’Av, on which the two Holy Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed, 2,000 and 2,500 years ago, respectively. Forty-nine percent said they want the rebuilding of the Holy Temple, while 23% said they do not. The remainder were unsure. The public is about evenly split on whether they believe it will happen, with a slight edge – 42% to 39% – to those who believe the Third Holy Temple will be rebuilt. Should the State of Israel take active steps towards the reconstruction? Forty-eight percent said no, while 27% said yes. (Arutz 7, 19 Jul 2010)

But what caused the downfall of the former Temples and has the LORD ordained another such temple?

The Temple that cannot be Defiled

God is Spirit and is invisible in the material world, apart from His moving in and through tangible things. Similarly He abides with us by ‘indwelling’ part of His creation.

God allows Satan to exercise power as ‘prince of the world’ and to resist the Divine presence in his earthly domain. Satan directs his efforts at God’s sanctuary – since the Holy God will remove Himself from a corrupted dwelling place.

While God’s Temple stood in Jerusalem, the onslaught was focussed there. Those who conquered Israel also violated her sanctuary. E.g. Antiochus drenched the altar with pig’s blood. Israel acted as custodian of the Divine presence and valiantly opposed invading armies. But God instructed Moses: “have them make a sanctuary for Me, and I will dwell among them” (Exodus 25:8). The Hebrew phrase “will live among them” (ושׁכנתי בתוכם) also means “live within them”. The alternative interpretation is supported by Isaiah, where it is written: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit … ” (Isaiah 57:15).

However, Israel had, for the most part, misconceived the true enemy. Israel’s sanctity was not threatened by foreign aggression (which God would Himself defeat on condition of Israel’s obedience – Deut. 28), but by the insidious and subtle advances of sin, which defiled the soul of the people of God.

‘Her leaders judge for a bribe, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money. Yet they lean upon the LORD and say, “Is not the LORD among us? No disaster will come upon us.” Therefore because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets’. (Micah 3:11-12)

“The people of Judah have done evil in my eyes, declares the LORD. They have set up their detestable idols in the house that bears my Name and have defiled it.” (Jeremiah 7:30)

It was for the sin of His own people that God departed from their midst. Ezekiel saw the shechinah depart from Solomon’s Temple – and it never returned to that place.

Magic Charms Enchant Apostolic-Prophetic Movement

When reading these ridiculous claims, I’m torn between laughter or tears. (HT)

Magic Charms Enchant Apostolic-Prophetic Movement
By Holly Pivec

(quote)

Kits to remove curses, cards to interpret dreams, and music to heal people have become popular products in the apostolic‐prophetic movement, also called the “New Apostolic Reformation.” The movement, which is fast growing in charismatic churches, has long been criticized for its promotion of modern “apostles” and “prophets” who claim to have great authority and to speak for God. It is now being criticized for selling products that—many Christians believe—have more in common with the magic charms used in occult practices than with Christianity.

Property Dedication Kit. One organization that sells these products is the Elijah List, based in Albany, Oregon, which is founded and run by “prophet” Steve Shultz. The Elijah List e‐mails daily newsletters that feature prophecies—and advertisements for products like these—to more than 130,000 subscribers, according to its Web site(www.elijahlist.com).

One of the Elijah List’s top‐selling products is the “Portals to Cleansing Property Dedication Kit”—sold for $12—which is supposed to remove curses from houses and properties. Created by Henry Malone, a professional “house cleanser” and founder of Vision Life Ministries in Irving, Texas, the kit contains anointing oil and wood stakes, with Scripture verses on them, to drive into the borders of a property.

“Use it and make the enemy flee!” Shultz promised his Elijah List readers in an advertisement for the kit, sent on October 16, 2006. Shultz personally vouched for the kit, saying he’s cleansed his own 20 acres of land three or four times and, each time, has seen “a noticeable change in the atmosphere and circumstances.” He said curses are the only explanation for “certain sicknesses, diseases, and even death that comes upon very anointed and pure‐hearted people.”

Third Heaven Vision Anointing Oil. Another top‐selling product for the Elijah List is “Third Heaven Vision Anointing Oil,” which is supposed to give visions of the heavenly realm. Sold by Tom Panich of Vancouver, Washington, it’s made with a base of virgin olive oil and six fragrances that are mentioned in the Bible: calamus, cassia, frankincense, myrrh, Rose of Sharon, and spikenard. A half‐ounce sells for $12.

Anointing oil often has been used by Christians on sick people—along with prayer—in accordance with a Scripture passage, James 5:14–15. Christians historically did not view the oil as having any special power, however; they saw its use simply as an act of faith in God. They also did not use the oil to induce visions or cleanse homes from evil, as it is used in the apostolic‐prophetic movement.

In this movement, different brands of oil are depicted as “anointed” and, therefore, as more powerful than other “non‐anointed” oils. For example, in the Elijah List’s first advertisement for Third Heaven Vision Anointing Oil, sent on March 22, 2004, Shultz said, “We’ve carried different anointing oils in the past. But I always try to carry anointing oil with true anointing on it. This oil fulfills that anointing ‘standard.’”

Panich—a graduate of Norvel Haye’s New Life Bible College in Cleveland, Tennessee—claims that, in 2003, God told him to make the oil. Panich said, later, he was in the shower one day when he was hit with “a lightning bolt of God’s Glory,” and the Holy Spirit gave him the name, “Third Heaven Vision.” Panich said, “Every time I mix up a batch [of the oil], a strong anointing hits me and I shake vigorously…Also, on the occasions that I have put a full box (144 bottles) of the anointing oil in the hands of two separate strong intercessors, they have been hit by the power and anointing of the Lord, almost to the point of falling to the ground.”

Panich also recommends that the anointing oil be poured over the wood stakes from Malone’s property dedication kit, something Panich said he has tried.

“After I drove the first stake into the ground, I felt the Presence of the Lord come across the yard, hit me, and then I almost fell over,” he wrote on the Elijah List (Oct. 16, 2006).

Dream Cards. The Elijah List also sells “Dream Cards,” created by Barbie Breathitt of “Breath of the Spirit Ministries,” based in North Richland Hills, Texas. The laminated cards contain common dream symbols—such as numbers, colors, and animals—and their interpretations. They are sold for $10 each or in sets of 6 and 12—for $50 and $96, respectively.

Breathitt’s Dream Cards are endorsed by Patricia King, the founder of Extreme Prophetic Television with Patricia King—a half‐hour program featuring well‐known “prophets” that airs on Canada’s Miracle Channel.

“So many believers are having significant dreams but do not always understand the significance of the symbols within them,” King said. “Barbie Breathitt has done a marvelous job of preparing dream cards as a tremendous tool to help this process.”

Besides dream interpretations, one of the cards lists colors and musical keys that are supposed to bring healing to specific body parts. The use of music and colors for healing is also promoted in occult circles, as on New York psychic Ellie Crystal’s Web site (http://www.crystalinks.com/colors.html).

What causes deception

Mike Ratliff made some interesting observations concerning deception in his latest post, Speak Not to Please Man but to Please God

What causes deception? We like to believe that people lying to those they deceive cause deception. However, if we think critically about that (yes, I know that post-modernists have lost that ability, but humor me) deception is not the direct result of the lie, but is only takes effect when the one being deceived desires something from the deceiver such as a relationship or something else that is offered. The deceived believe the lie in order to receive something else that they want.

What has this to do with compromise in ministry?

When theologians, preachers, or Christian leaders who once were not compromised suddenly appear to make these strange decisions, if we take the effort to dig into what is going on, invariably we will find that they are doing what they are doing in order to please someone else. The motive is that of gaining the approval of man. Yes, there will be some with discernment who will notice and make an issue of it, but these people go ahead and do what they do because they see the gain they will receive as being higher than what they will have lost by not doing so. Of course, that gain is from man not God and the heat they will take from those with discernment, well, who listens to them anymore anyway?

He writes,

“…deception is not the direct result of the lie, but is only takes effect when the one being deceived desires something from the deceiver such as a relationship or something else that is offered”

I believe he is right, and that what the “pre-deceived” really are seeking from a deceiver is confirmation (and affirmation) concerning a lie which is attempting to take root within them already, and which they want to believe.

“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

just musing…

Nix Vacation Bible School, now its Vacation “Liberty School”

(Big thanks to John A. for sending the link)

When I read things like this, my thoughts go to my first Pastor Brother Trent, now with the Lord, and what he’d say. Vacation Bible School was a much anticipated program every summer in our little Church. It was prayed about very seriously. We knew neighborhood kids, who didn’t normally come to Church, would show up and have the opportunity to hear about Jesus.

This story makes me want to just sit down and weep…

VBS aims to re-teach civics with focus on faith

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) — Call it vacation Bible school, Glenn Beck-style.

Some three dozen kids ages 10 to 15 are spending five nights this week learning what organizers – some with tea party ties – say they won’t hear in school about the Constitution, the founding fathers and the role of faith in the birth of the United States.”If we’re going to take our country back, we’ve got to remember where we came from – not only as adults, but we need to teach our children,” said Tim Fairfield, one of the teachers, who wore a three-cornered hat at the opening class of Vacation Liberty School. It’s held in a church basement in Georgetown, a city just north of Lexington that is the site of a major Toyota assembly plant.

The curriculum includes lessons like “equal rights, not equal results,” “recognize men don’t create rights – only God,” and “understanding falsehoods of separation of church and state.”

And organizers say the program has drawn interest from people looking to start new chapters in Ohio, Colorado, New York, Florida and other communities in Kentucky.

It’s is an offshoot of the 9/12 Project, inspired by Beck, the conservative commentator, who had no direct role in the planning of the Kentucky school. He did not respond to a request for comment made through his publicist. The project, which seeks to unify Americans around nine values – including honesty, hope and sincerity – and 12 principles, (*which) was behind some of the raucous protests at health care forums around the country last summer. On Monday, the first night of Vacation Liberty School, the basement of Gano Baptist church was converted into a tyrannical kingdom meant to resemble colonial England where students were told they must suppress their laughter, sit apart from their friends and flawlessly recite “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

Against the urgings of a mock king’s representative, the brave ones ventured through the rugged terrain of a maze of upside-down tables discovered an adjoining room with all the luxuries of the New World. There they could play basketball, toss beanbags and ride a teeter-totter while being showered with confetti as Neil Diamond’s “Coming To America” blared over the speakers.

Some parents showed up early to quiz the organizers about the curriculum. Others said they wouldn’t mind a conservative slant to balance out what they say is a liberal influence in the public school system.

“Other people are trying to put their viewpoints out there, so I don’t see any reason why we can’t put our viewpoints out there,” said John Cravens, the father of two children who attended.

Eric Wilson, head of the Kentucky 9/12 Project, acknowledges he and many others behind the school are strong supporters of the conservative tea party movement, which claims Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul as one of its highest-profile members. But he says the curriculum was carefully planned to make sure politics didn’t creep in.”We may be playing in the same sandbox,” Wilson said. “But in the 9/12 Project, we’re going to tell you where the sand came from while the tea party is telling you what sand to buy.”

Joe Conn, spokesman for Americans United for Separation of Church and State, isn’t so sure. A news release announcing the school referenced the tea party, leading him to believe that if Vacation Liberty School isn’t crossing the line into politics, it’s coming close.”All Americans want kids to learn about the government and political system,” he said. “It’s something quite different when kids are being indoctrinated in church in one political tradition. That’s quite different from learning objectively and academically about civics.”

He cautions Gano Baptist could risk losing its tax-exempt status if explicit political lessons are being taught in a church setting.

But the Rev. Wayne Lipscomb, the pastor there, says he had no political motivations for allowing the classes to be held without a rental fee. Tickets were distributed online for free.

“I think our kids need to know about the founding fathers and they need to understand the connection between God and the founding fathers,” he said. “They don’t need to hear the revisionists’ stories of history.”

With such weighty topics swirling, 13-year-old Matthew Porter seemed to get some of them jumbled.

“I didn’t know faith, hope and charity were parts of the Constitution,” he said. “I thought they made it as laws, nothing to do with church.”

Although there was no talk of Democrats or Republicans during Monday’s session, there was an activity geared toward teaching children the dangers of communism.Given pistols to shoot soap bubbles out of the air, the students quickly learned they could do it far more easily by refilling from their own buckets of water rather than having to share a communal one.

Fairfield told the class the lesson is that while secular communism sounds good in theory, free enterprise works far better in practice.

Later in the week, the economic teachings would extend to lessons on debt and inflation. As more money is printed, the costs of candy and toys at the school’s canteen will skyrocket.

If interested you can read the article,

Televangelist Counters Ground Zero Mosque with Christian Center

But what interested me was a comment left by a reader, in response to the article,

And then maybe we can do a remake of “West Side Story” and have the Christians in one gang and the Muslims in the other. Or, here’s another radical thought…maybe we can actually show the love of Jesus to these Muslims and share the good news of Jesus with them with our lives and our lips. These Muslims are not the enemy, they are victims of the enemy who need the message of Jesus Christ every bit as much as we do. If Christians in and around New York embrace Muslims with open arms, listen to them deeply, love them unconditionally and share the message of Christ in a compelling and uncompromising way, then maybe the rest of the NYC community will see what the heart of Jesus is all about…and believe. But if we just tit for tat with this and that then we are using earthly devices instead of the heavenly “weapons of righteousness”…truth and love

Amen.

Glenn Beck’s “Channeling” Charles Manson

I once knew someone who was always referring to “them” or “they”. No one could ever figure out who the shadowy “they” were which this guy always referred to. Beck does the same thing.

Whats not funny is Beck’s continual fanning of the flames of racism. He appears to be channeling Charley Manson in this latest clip:

Beck: “They want a race war … and our government is going to stand by and let them do it”

One of the two great influences on the thinking of Charles Manson, along with the Book of Revelation, was the musical group the Beatles. According to Family members, Manson would most often quote “the Beatles and the Bible.”

Manson believed that the Beatles spoke to him through their lyrics, especially those included in the White Album, released in December 1968. Several songs from the White Album crystalized Manson’s thinking about a coming revolt by blacks against the white Establishment. He interpreted many of the songs idiosyncratically, believing, for example, that “Rocky Raccoon” meant black people and “Happiness is a Warm Gun” was a song about revolution.

Glenn Beck is a dangerous man because he has been given a daily platform by which to spread his paranoia and insanity. And regretfully, a number of Christians give heed to his words.

“I don’t really care whether you’re Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, or Christian; I just care about how conservative you are”

Ahhh…another post with an exceptionally long title.

Some direct quotes are so outlandish the urge to use them as the title comes over me. This one, from a former alumni of Jerry Falwell’s (*Christian) Liberty University, now employed at the school, says alot about the School’s (*Bible based- Christian) curriculum.

quote…

Lynchburg, Virginia—Although a friend in Charlottesville had informed me that Lynchburg might be a nice place for me to check out my first gun shop, the real attraction in town is the campus of Liberty University…

The crown jewel on campus, though, might be the Jerry Falwell Museum, located by the main entrance to the vistors center and perfectly situated for prospective students and their parents to stop in as they wait for a tour. It’s kind of awesome. The museum houses not one but two stuffed bears, the smaller a black bear named Gertie that the Reverend’s father had wrestled (!!) as a young man, and tucked in a side room reserved for alumni, a 10-foot-tall Kodiak donated by a visiting speaker. You can find the piano that was played at the church the night the Reverend was saved, his wife’s wedding dress, and a to-scale replica of the tricked-out car his father used to run liquor during prohibition. One room consists almost entirely of photos of its namesake with people more and less famous than himself. There’s Jerry with Evander Holyfield; Jerry with Ted Kennedy; Jerry with the Presidents Bush; Jerry with Franklin Graham; Even, tucked in the corner, a photo of Jerry and the tall scary guy who played Jaws in Moonraker.

A young woman is there with her parents, waiting for an official school tour to begin. She’s currently in college (in North Carolina, I think). “It’s a ‘Baptist’ college, in quotations, because I don’t think they talked a lot about God the week I was there,” says the mom, matter of factly, to tour guide. “Mom, they did!” the daughter protests.

The family leaves and I get to talking to a man named Ryan, a former student who now works at the school. I ask Ryan about Liberty’s commencement speaker last spring, Glenn Beck. It wasn’t quite Obama at Notre Dame, but, he says, “a lot of people were like ‘whooooa—he’s Mormon.” The elderly man sitting at the desk, who I presume works there but doesn’t really talk except for once or twice and even then for never more than five seconds, jumps in at this point: “He’s not a Christian,” he says, speaking of Beck. Then he goes back to his book.

Ryan, doesn’t really mind much what Beck is, though. He says that while “about a third” of those in attendence at the ceremony were skeptical going in, once Beck started things off by expressing his admiration for the school, he had the crowd in hand. As he explains it,

“I don’t really care whether you’re Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, or Christian. I just care about how conservative you are.”

The Bond Villains at the Jerry Falwell Museum

I wouldn’t send my dog (if I had one) to that (*Christian) School of “higher-learning”, to be taught how to fetch!

Does John Hagee Rob God?

God says:

“You shall have no other gods before Me”(Ex. 20:3).

Isaiah 48:11 For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another.

Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord, that is My name; My glory I give to no other, nor My praise to idols.

1 Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

(Jesus came to earth) “seeking the glory of the One who sent Him”. John 7:18

(John 12:28, Jesus prays) “Father, glorify Thy name”. (To that, the Heavenly Father answers) “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again”. (And, in what is called ‘The High Priestly Prayer’ of John 17, Jesus prays) “I have glorified Thee on earth, having accomplished the work which Thou hast given Me to do”(17:4).

Revelation 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

John Hagee says:

Christianity would not exist if it weren’t for the Jewish people. I know this concept flies in the face of the anti-Semitic poison that has filled the mouths of church leaders for centuries. But it’s true..

It’s essential for anti-Semites to separate Jesus from His Jewish roots. If you do that, then hatred becomes fashionable and anti-Semitism becomes a Christian virtue….

But when you correctly see the Jewish people as the family of our Lord, they become our extended siblings, and we are commanded to love them unconditionally.

More: Where Did Christianity Come From?

Nations are not taken through “evangelism harvests” but by having Christians “take over spheres and administer them for God”

I borrowed the title of this post from a quote by ‘The Seven Mountains’ guru Lance Wallnau, posted at RWWatch.

If there was any lingering doubt that Seven Mountains theology is anti-Gospel, and in turn, anti-Christ, Wallnau’s own words make it very clear another spirit is operating within these false teachings.

And subsequently, it answers the question as to what type of spirit is operating within the self promoting false religious leaders, and the politicians, who have boarded and are riding (as one) this Train called blasphemy.

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (Mark16)

Candidates’ Religion: Personal, Not Political

The article below by Baptist minister Drew Smith, asks an interesting question and makes one very important point:

“…we can confuse the personal faith of a public official with the idea that he or she should be a religious leader in our government”

I recall how surprised I was during the G.W. Bush presidency at the Christians who voted for him for no other reason then he professed Christianity, and later felt betrayed because he did not live up to their idea of how he should have led the country, as a Christian. What these folks could never seem to grasp is they had mistakenly expected him to be a ‘religious’ leader, instead of the President of the United States.

Anyway, good article…

The relationship between religion and politics is always a messy one – sometimes too messy. As the recent primary elections in South Carolina and Nevada have demonstrated, politicians can easily use religion as a weapon against political rivals.

This is not new. Barack Obama, as a candidate, faced continual questions over his own faith, even though he repeatedly claimed to be a Christian. But folks still question his faith, even after he has been elected president.

However, these religious inquisitions within the political arena raise serious questions about political candidates, the nature of political campaigns and the proper place of religion in our politics. Should a political candidate be forced to defend his or her faith in order to be elected? And should candidates legitimately use religion as a weapon against political opponents?

Keller and Beck: Pot challenges Kettle…

Birther and activist Bill Keller takes on Mormonism’s (insane) false prophet, Glenn Beck.

Bill Keller, leader of the world’s largest interactive Christian website for 11 years, Liveprayer.com, was in the national news a few years ago for his now infamous quote, “a vote for Romney is a vote for Satan!” Keller is now after another Mormon, radio and TV personality Glenn Beck.

Keller states, “Beck likes to call out people for their lies and deception, yet he portrays himself daily as a Christian. The fact is, the beliefs of the satanic Mormon cult are totally inconsistent with Biblical Christianity. He uses the words “god” and “jesus,” yet the god and jesus of the Mormon cult are NOT the God and Jesus of the Bible!”

Keller continues, “The ‘god’ of the Mormon cult used to be a human who rose to god-like status, just like Beck and all Mormons believe they will too after their death. The ‘jesus’ of the Mormon cult is the natural offspring of their ‘god’ Elohim who had sex with Mary, meaning their jesus is a created being and NOT a deity as the Bible teaches, and is the brother of Lucifer.”

Keller concludes, “I could care less what Beck chooses to believe, but I do care that he lies to people by stating he is a Christian when a person who believes in the lies of the Mormon cult is no more a Christian than a Muslim is. Most appalling are prominent Christians who have sold out the faith to associate with Beck, more worried about what financial gain they will get from that association than helping him lead ignorant souls to hell for following his cult’s beliefs.”

Keller has publicly challenged Beck to have an honest and open discussion of his Mormon beliefs on both his radio and TV programs, but Beck has refused to respond.

Dominionism and The Religious Right: The Merger Is Complete

Another informative post from RightWingWatch:

For weeks now I have been writing regular posts on the increasing intersection between the “mainstream” Religious Right and Dominionist prophetic intercessors like Lou Engle, Cindy Jacobs, Rick Joyner and others.

But I have always been careful to note that just because the more “mainstream” leaders have been joining forces with these self-proclaims prophets and apostles, it didn’t mean that they necessarily shared their Dominionist agenda.

But I think it is fair to say that I no longer need to be so careful, as the leaders of the Religious Right have now openly embraced Seven Mountains Dominionist theology…

Eschatology, Prophecy, and Foreign Policy

Joel (The Church of Jesus Christ) posted the link to an interesting story in the NYTimes:

quote…

HAR BRACHA, West Bank — Twice a year, American evangelicals show up at a winery in this Jewish settlement in the hills of ancient Samaria to play a direct role in biblical prophecy, picking grapes and pruning vines.

Believing that Christian help for Jewish winemakers here in the occupied West Bank foretells Christ’s second coming, they are recruited by a Tennessee-based charity called HaYovel that invites volunteers “to labor side by side with the people of Israel” and “to share with them a passion for the soon coming jubilee in Yeshua, messiah.”

But during their visit in February the volunteers found themselves in the middle of the fight for land that defines daily life here.

HaYovel is one of many groups in the United States using tax-exempt donations to help Jews establish permanence in the Israeli-occupied territories — effectively obstructing the creation of a Palestinian state, widely seen as a necessary condition for Middle East peace.

The result is a surprising juxtaposition: As the American government seeks to end the four-decade Jewish settlement enterprise and foster a Palestinian state in the West Bank, the American Treasury helps sustain the settlements through tax breaks on donations to support them.

A New York Times examination of public records in the United States and Israel identified at least 40 American groups that have collected more than $200 million in tax-deductible gifts for Jewish settlement in the West Bank and East Jerusalem over the last decade. The money goes mostly to schools, synagogues, recreation centers and the like, legitimate expenditures under the tax law. But it has also paid for more legally questionable commodities: housing as well as guard dogs, bulletproof vests, rifle scopes and vehicles to secure outposts deep in occupied areas….

Support From a Preacher

Late one afternoon in March, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. landed in Israel and headed to his Jerusalem hotel to prepare for a weeklong effort to rekindle Middle East peace talks.

Across town, many of the leading Israeli officials on Mr. Biden’s schedule, among them Prime Minister Netanyahu, were in a convention hall listening to the Rev. John Hagee, an influential American preacher whose charities have donated millions to projects in Israel and the territories. Support for the settlements has become a cause of some leading conservative Republicans, like Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin.

“Israel exists because of a covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob 3,500 years ago — and that covenant still stands,” Mr. Hagee thundered. “World leaders do not have the authority to tell Israel and the Jewish people what they can and cannot do in the city of Jerusalem.”

The next day, Israeli-American relations plunged after Israel announced plans for 1,600 new apartments for Jews in East Jerusalem, which the Palestinians want as their future capital.

Israeli officials said Mr. Hagee’s words of encouragement had no effect on government decision making. And the preacher’s aides said he was not trying to influence the peace talks, just defending Israel’s right to make decisions without foreign pressure.

Still, his presence underscored the role of settlement supporters abroad.

Spiritual Discernment is Lost Until we are Regenerated

The lack of spiritual discernment within the Church is more evident today then at any other season in my lifetime. The magnitude of people who say they are Christians, but for all intents and purposes are spiritually blind, is staggering.

In most instances you cannot even discuss spiritual matters with them, for they either look at you like you’re speaking a foreign language, (which to their ears, it likely sounds as though you are …) or they respond by echoing/repeating the words and ideas of this kingdom: the world which sits in darkness.

Anyway, I’d like to share a few interesting quotes from Calvin on spiritual discernment.

We must now explain what the power of human reason is, in regard to the kingdom of God, and spiritual discernment which consists chiefly of three things – the knowledge of God, the knowledge of his paternal favour towards us, which constitutes our salvation, and the method of regulating of our conduct in accordance with the Divine Law. With regard to the former two, but more properly the second, men otherwise the most ingenious are blinder than moles.

I deny not, indeed, that in the writings of philosophers we meet occasionally with shrewd and apposite remarks on the nature of God, though they invariably savour somewhat of giddy imagination. As observed above, the Lord has bestowed on them some slight perception of his Godhead that they might not plead ignorance as an excuse for their impiety, and has, at times, instigated them to deliver some truths, the confession of which should be their own condemnation.

Still, though seeing, they saw not. Their discernment was not such as to direct them to the truth, far less to enable them to attain it, but resembled that of the bewildered traveller, who sees the flash of lightning glance far and wide for a moment, and then vanish into the darkness of the night, before he can advance a single step. So far is such assistance from enabling him to find the right path…

Man’s spiritual blindness

But since we are intoxicated with a false opinion of our own discernment, and can scarcely be persuaded that in divine things it is altogether stupid and blind, I believe the best course will be to establish the fact, not by argument, but by Scripture. Most admirable to this effect is the passage which I lately quoted from John, when he says,

“In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not,” (John 1: 4, 5.)

He intimates that the human soul is indeed irradiated with a beam of divine light, so that it is never left utterly devoid of some small flame, or rather spark, though not such as to enable it to comprehend God. And why so? Because its acuteness is, in reference to the knowledge of God, mere blindness.

When the Spirit describes men under the term “darkness” he declares them void of all power of spiritual intelligence.

For this reason, it is said that believers, in embracing Christ, are “born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God,” (John 1: 13) -  in other words, that the flesh has no capacity for such sublime wisdom as to apprehend God, and the things of God, unless illumined by His Spirit. In like manner our Saviour, when he was acknowledged by Peter, declared that it was by special revelation from the Father, (Matt. 16: 17.)

If we were persuaded of a truth which ought to be beyond dispute, viz., that human nature possesses none of the gifts which the elect receive from their heavenly Father through the Spirit of regeneration, there would be no room here for hesitation.

For thus speaks the congregation of the faithful, by the mouth of the prophet: “With thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light,” (Ps. 36: 9.)

To the same effect is the testimony of the Apostle Paul, when he declares, that “no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost,” (1 Cor. 12: 3.)

And John Baptist, on seeing the dullness of his disciples, exclaims, “A man can receive nothing, unless it be given him from heaven,” (John 3: 27.)

That the gift to which he here refers must be understood not of ordinary natural gifts, but of special illumination, appears from this – that he was complaining how little his disciples had profited by all that he had said to them in commendation of Christ. “I see,” says he, “that my words are of no effect in imbuing the minds of men with divine things, unless the Lord enlighten their understandings by His Spirit.” Nay, Moses also, while upbraiding the people for their forgetfulness, at the same time observes, that they could not become wise in the mysteries of God without his assistance.

“Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt, unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land; the great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and these great miracles: yet the Lord has not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this, day,” (Deut. 29: 2, 3, 4.)

Would the expression have been stronger had he called us mere blocks in regard to the contemplation of divine things? Hence the Lord, by the mouth of the Prophet, promises to the Israelites as a singular favour, “I will give them an heart to know me,” (Jer. 24: 7)

….intimating, that in spiritual things the human mind is wise only in so far as he enlightens it.

“The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, for they are spiritually discerned,” (1 Cor. 2: 14.)

Whom does he mean by the “natural man”? The man who trusts to the light of nature. Such a man has no understanding in the spiritual mysteries of God. Why so? Is it because through sloth he neglects them? Nay, though he exert himself, it is of no avail; they are “spiritually discerned.” And what does this mean? That altogether hidden from human discernment, they are made known only by the revelation of the Spirit; so that they are accounted foolishness wherever the Spirit does not give light.

But Spiritual Discernment is Wholly Lost Until we are Regenerated
by John Calvin

What does this point to concerning those professing Christ who possess no spiritual discernment whatsoever? It sadly tells me there is an unimaginable number of people (professing Christianity) whom have never been born again.

Our Declaration of Dependence

Mike Ratliff has posted an excellent message,

quote..

Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you. (Psalm 33:20-22 ESV)

The movements we are seeing all around us, whether Christian in form or not, that are attempts to improve the world, to bring in some form of utopian existence or a new level of evolution, or whatever; are all simply examples of the same thing that happened in the Garden of Eden when Man rejected God’s plan and went with his own (Genesis 3).

The Tower of Babel (Genesis 11) is an example of men coming together in disobedience to God’s command to try to improve on what He has promised to give them.

The stuff going on now with globalization of the Church via Dominionism, the Seeker Sensitive movement via Diaprax, et cetera, are just current day examples of professing Christians doing things their own way because they consider God’s way to be ineffective or boring or outdated, et cetera. These movements are declarations of independence from God as Lord and are markers of people who may profess to be Christian, but by these actions, they prove they are anything but…

Beck and Hagee: Two peas in a pod

Won’t be long before we hear Glenn Beck has joined CUFI’s board of directors and John Hagee is teaching at (I kid you not) Beck “U” (as in University).
