Jacobs’ 40-day prayer effort mirrors another campaign a cross-section of Christian leaders are launching in late September. Dubbed Pray and Act, the initiative calls for a 40-day fast from Sept. 20 through Oct. 30. Organizers are calling people to not only pray for the nation but also vote for “righteous” leaders during the midterm elections, and help transform society through compassion ministry and evangelism.
Supporters include such Christian leaders as TheCall founder Lou Engle, evangelical author Charles Colson, Foursquare Church leader Jack Hayford, Teen Mania founder Ron Luce, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention and California pastor Jim Garlow, who called the initiative “a national movement that can save America.”

I recommend to Mrs. Jacobs to read her Bible again, especially Daniel 2:20:
“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
to whom belong wisdom and might.
He changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding …”
If, as the Holy Scripture teaches, God removes kings and sets up kings (i.e. political rulers), how can grace depend on how americans vote in 2010?
Interesting to note that when those who claim to be born-again Christians link up with those who are “of this world” we can’t tell them apart. They are like-minded, having the same goals. 1John 2:15 We are to be heavenly minded Philippians 3:20″For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;”
As spoken above, the Lord Jesus Christ has conquered satan and has declared victory! There is no reason for believers to be involving themselves in these well-meaning efforts to “take America back for God”. The world is being judged for its rejection of the salvation offered through Jesus Christ, God’s Only Begotten Son.
Is God separating the “wheat” from the “tares”, manifesting who is “of us” and who is not? I have to believe so.
1Corinthians 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
1John 2:19They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
It reminds me of Gary North who one time said something to the effect of…If the Church would just quit being lazy and get off its backside then we could transform the world and bring in the Millennium.
Kline rightly suggested that to assert the Church has been a failure for the last two thousand years is to blaspheme the work of the Holy Spirit.
These people do not understand Romans 8. We’re more than conquerors….by being sheep led to slaughter. God is glorified in weakness. His wisdom overturns that of the worlds. In the weak overcoming the strong God is most glorified.
These people must be terribly disappointed Jesus didn’t just come, march into Rome and cast down Caesar and sit on his throne…..
Hey, wasn’t that what the Pharisees wanted? Wasn’t that their hope and expectation of the Kingdom…..a geo-political world dominion?
