Ted Haggard: ‘I’m Probably What The Kids Call ‘Bisexual’

For the sake of Christ and the Church, will this guy ever shut up and stop with the interviews?!!

Probably not.

quote…

In a new GQ profile, Rev. Ted Haggard addresses the continued assumptions that he’s gay, following revelations years ago that the prominent evangelical had a drug-fueled sexual relationship with a gay male former escort: “I think that probably, if I were 21 in this society, I would identify myself as a bisexual.” But, he told GQ’s Kevin Roose: “I’m 54, with children, with a belief system, and I can have enforced boundaries in my life. Just like you’re a heterosexual but you don’t have sex with every woman that you’re attracted to, so I can be who I am and exclusively have sex with my wife and be perfectly satisfied.”

  1. If one is TRULY a CHRISTIAN committed to be FAITHFUL to their wife and family, they DON”T IDENTIFY themselves as a BISEXUAL. HELLO! How are these things so difficult for people to understand?

We lie down in our shame, and our CONFUSION covereth us: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God. – Jeremiah 3.25

    • How are these things so difficult for people to understand?

George, i don’t get it either. Especially because God’s word is so clear on the issue.

  2. Can’t say that I’m surprised since I predicted this a couple of years ago.

This is only the beginning of him embracing his homosexuality. He may think the external constraints he and his wife have put in place will prevent him from acting on his impulses but ultimately he will give in to his flesh.

    • The Christian post has an article up this evening concerning some of the statements Haggard made during the GQ interview; Ted Haggard Shares Shocking Details in New Interview

This is only the beginning of him embracing his homosexuality.

Steve, im sure you’re right. He can’t even call it sin, only “not God’s best plan”-

Haggard told GQ reporter Kevin Roose while on a camping trip that he still believes that the Bible is clear that “homosexuality is not God’s best plan for people.”

  3. When i read this man’s words and think of all the Christians today who are “celebrating” (and defending) what they believe is a man who has been restored by God, it just makes me sick.
    :-(

  4. He needs to be delivered completely — a direct touch from God — not just counseling — but I guess you have to be willing to submit yourself to be delivered.

I have always felt sorry for his wife and his family. They have always seemed to me to be living a lie.

Also, why would you put yourself on a reality show for further exploitation and public ridicule? What is wrong with the church?

  5. I read this article as well, and I agree. Ted needs to drop off of the media map. There is nothing that he has to say that can restore the damage that he has created except to repent and fade into the background.

  6. Wow I had no clue that Haggard was still on the fence regarding this matter. You would think the embarassment of Him being caught would do something to him???

    Guess Not….Thanks for posting this!
