The Dunes Sagebrush Lizard Conspiracy

Sometimes you just have to laugh

In December, the Fish and Wildlife Service proposed adding the dunes sagebrush lizard — which lives only in New Mexico and West Texas and “faces immediate and significant threats due to oil and gas activities, and herbicide treatments” — to the Endangered Species List.

Last night, Andrew Napolitano railed against the proposed protection of the lizard on his Fox Business show, including it in what he deemed an “all-out vendetta against affordable oil.”

David Asman joined in pushing the conspiratorial claim while discussing the lizard on his Fox Business Show America’s Nightly Scoreboard, suggesting that the protecting the species could be part of “a ploy to hurt Texas oil production.”

While Varney, Asman, Napolitano, and Glenn Beck have all suggested that listing the dunes sagebrush lizard would require oil production in West Texas to shut down, Fish And Wildlife Service officials dispute this claim. Michelle Shaughnessy, the assistant regional director for ecological services in FWS’s Southwest district, told the Albuquerque Journal (accessed via Nexis) that these claims are “absolutely not true.”  (source)

Superman Renounces U.S. Citizenship in ‘Action Comics’

Well, here’s a story which will likely ruffle some feathers.

After recently undertaking a journey to walk — not fly — across the United States in the “Grounded” storyline and reconnect with the country and everyday Americans, Superman appears to be taking another step that could have major implications for his national identity: in Action Comics #900,

…Superman announces that he is going to give up his U.S. citizenship. Despite very literally being an alien immigrant, Superman has long been seen as a patriotic symbol of “truth, justice, and the American way,” from his embrace of traditional American ideals to the iconic red and blue of his costume. What it means to stand for the “American way” is an increasingly complicated thing, however, both in the real world and in superhero comics, whose storylines have increasingly seemed to mirror current events and deal with moral and political complexities rather than simple black and white morality….

While this wouldn’t be this first time a profoundly American comic book icon disassociated himself from his national identity — remember when Captain America became Nomad? — this could be a very significant turning point for Superman if its implications carry over into other storylines. Indeed, simply saying that “truth, justice and the American way [is] not enough anymore” is a pretty startling statement from the one man who has always represented those values the most. Brother David Wilkerson Has Gone Home: May 19, 1931- April 27, 2011

My family was blessed and helped through the ministry of this humble servant for over 30 years. Heaven’s gain is truly our loss.

David Wilkerson, founder of World Challenge Ministries, was killed Wednesday in a car accident in East Texas. Charisma News spoke with Dr. Wayde Goodall, founder of WorldWide Family, who first verified the news. Goodall was with Wilkerson’s son, Gary, when he was informed of the fatal accident. By late Wednesday night, Times Square Church in New York City announced the death of its founding pastor in a statement from Senior Pastor Carter Conlon:

“Pastor David Wilkerson’s was a life fully given for the glory of God and souls of men. He was greatly loved and he will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with the family and we as a church body are committed to standing with them at this time of sorrow.”

Additional unconfirmed sources are reporting that Wilkerson was killed in a head-on collision with a tractor trailer while traveling east on U.S. 175. His wife, Gwen, was also involved in the accident and reportedly remains in critical condition at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, Texas.

“Today, the Kingdom of God has lost a giant of the faith. His life touched millions,” says George O. Wood, general superintendent of the Assemblies of God. “The Assemblies of God enjoyed a life-long relationship with David Wilkerson. He was godly, humble and represented everything that is best in a spiritual leader. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayer is extended to his wife, Gwen, and family.” (link)

An excerpt from David’s last blog post:

To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.

” Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith: 2 Timothy 4:7

Once a Conspiracist ALWAYS a Conspiracist

You’d think The National Organization of  Conspiracy Theorists, established by Joseph Farah and Jerome Corsi, headquartered at WorldNetDaily, which includes in their ranks such names as Donald Trump, Alan Keyes, Sean Hannity, (among countless others) would be scrambling today…

quote…

This morning, President Obama released his long-form birth certificate from Hawaii. The conspiracy website World Net Daily has written over 600 articles in the last three years questioning Obama’s birthplace. Politico reported that Donald Trump, who recently gave the birther conspiracy new prominence, regularly seeks advice from World Net Daily’s editor-in-chief Joseph Farah.

But, uh NO. Not these professional nuts…

quote…

Most of these articles highlight the long-form birth certificate as the key piece of missing documentation. But now that Obama has released his birth certificate, World Net Daily has decided it’s not sufficient, even if they decide the long-form birth certificate is totally authentic.

Here’s Joseph Farah:

We look forward to reviewing it like so many other Americans do at this late date. But it is important to remember there are still dozens of other questions concerning this question of eligibility that need to be resolved to assure what has become a very skeptical public concerning Barack Obama’s parentage, his adoption, his citizenship status throughout his life and why he continues to cultivate a culture of secrecy around his life.

Farah is also not willing to concede that the long-form birth certificate is genuine. He writes:

“The news media and the political establishment were quick to rush to judgment regarding Obama’s eligibility in 2008, without any basis. It would be a big mistake for everyone to jump to a conclusion now based on the release of this document, which raises as many questions than it answers.”

Prior to today’s release, there was already more than sufficient evidence establishing President Obama’s birth in Hawaii. Those who are inclined to believe that he is born elsewhere, however, are not operating in a world of facts.

This morning Obama said, “I know that there’s going to be a segment of people for which, no matter what we put out, this issue will not be put to rest. But I’m speaking to the vast majority of the American people, as well as to the press. We do not have time for this kind of silliness. We’ve got better stuff to do. I’ve got better stuff to do.”

But clearly, Joseph Farah has nothing better to do.

Trump Adviser: Even If Long-Form Birth Certificate Is Genuine, It Doesn’t Prove Anything

If time allows check out today’s front page  at Farah’s WND.

What is more disturbing then Farah (after all he’s made oodles of $ off this ridiculous lie and wants to continue to do so) are many of the responses I read FROM Christians,

  • Well the certificate i just looked at on line doesn’t have a raised seal…or any seal at all. And, the fact that he had changed his citizenship from the US to Indonesia when he was adopted (i believe that’s how it went!), did he ever have it changed back when his mother divorced and they moved back here? There’s still tons of questions…
  • there’s already some talk about how a “Birth Certificate” and “Certificate of Birth” are not the same thing…or the same as the “Certificate of Live Birth” which had been released prior.
  • I will say that copy looks weird also. The background color with registrar stamp at the bottom and old copy on the top. It looks like 2 different papers and one on top of the other one. Is this done on purpose so the conspiracy continues? I don’t know but that does not look that official to me.

At least in the case of the current President, it’s evident, Once a Conspiracist ALWAYS a Conspiracist

“Ye shall know them by their fruits…”

“By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit.” JOHN 15:8

An orange tree is an orange tree as soon as it is planted, even before it produces fruit. It is not an orange tree because it produces oranges; it produces oranges because it is an orange tree. The fruit is the evidence of what it already is. If it were to suddenly produce rotten apples then we know for certain that it is not what we thought it was. The one who has really been saved will produce “much fruit” and will “walk worthy” of their calling (Ephesians 4:1). That is to say, the evidence of a “born again” person is not in what they say they believe, but in how they actually live. Even the phrase “born again” indicates more than just a change of heart; it represents a spiritual death, burial, and resurrection; a new life. Thus, no one can be truly “born again” until and unless they embrace the Cross, die with Christ, and are raised to Life in Him.

Chip Brogden, Infinite Supply

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:16-20

Spreading Insanity Within the Church in America

Franklin Graham said Sunday that the nation is in “big trouble” under the leadership of President Obama and that he is having an increasingly positive view of billionaire Donald Trump running for president as he hears more from him.

While Graham did not elaborate why the United States is in trouble under Obama, he did express support for Trump’s questioning of why Obama hasn’t produced his birth certificate. “I don’t know why he can’t produce that (birth certificate),” said Graham. “I don’t know, but it’s an issue that looks like he could answer pretty quickly.” Graham was one of the three prominent Christian leaders, the other being Pastor Tim Keller and the Rev. Al Sharpton, invited to discuss the topic of God and government with journalist Christiane Amanpour on Sunday.

The questions and answers were kept brief, but even Franklin Graham’s short responses managed to draw controversy. Among his most surprising comments is that Graham finds himself politically attracted to Donald Trump, the twice divorced U.S. real-estate developer. Graham described Trump as “very capable” and someone who has “proven himself.” “Donald Trump, when I first saw that he was getting in, I thought, well, this has got to be a joke. But the more you listen to him, the more you say to yourself, you know? Maybe the guy’s right,” said Graham.

When Amanpour asked if Trump might be Graham’s “candidate of choice,” the evangelical leader responded, “Sure, yes, sure.”

O’ JOYOUS EASTER MORNING

“The Lord is risen indeed!” Luke 24:34

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time….But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 1Corinthians 15: 1-8, 20

 O joyous Easter morning,
That saw the Lord of love arise!
O bright and happy morning!
The clouds have left the skies.
The night of grief is ended,
The smiling day has come again,
And Christ has won the victory
For all the sons of men.

O gladsome Easter morning,
Our hearts rejoice anew today,
The grave and death are conquered,
He is of life the Way.
The hosts of sin are vanquished,
He is the Victor, Savior, King;
Then let us all with gladness,
Our thankful praises bring.

O blessèd Easter morning,
What day so bright and fair as this,
When, through His mighty triumph,
He won the courts of bliss!
The doors of heaven are open,
The grave no more has power or dread,
For risen is our Savior,
 The first-fruits of the dead.

HALLELUJAH! May this Easter day and season bring you greater joy, deeper peace, and a time of refreshing.

God bless, pj

A Physician Explains the Crucifixion of Jesus

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. John 19: 25-35

A Physician’s View of the Crucifixion of Jesus (Dr. C. Truman Davis)

About a decade ago, reading Jim Bishop’s The Day Christ Died, I realized that I had for years taken the Crucifixion more or less for granted — that I had grown callous to its horror by a too easy familiarity with the grim details and a too distant friendship with our Lord. It finally occurred to me that, though a physician, I didn’t even know the actual immediate cause of death. The Gospel writers don’t help us much on this point, because crucifixion and scourging were so common during their lifetime that they apparently considered a detailed description unnecessary.

So we have only the concise words of the Evangelists: “Pilate, having scourged Jesus, delivered Him to them to be crucified — and they crucified Him.” I have no competence to discuss the infinite psychic and spiritual suffering of the Incarnate God atoning for the sins of fallen man. But it seemed to me that as a physician I might pursue the physiological and anatomical aspects of our Lord’s passion in some detail.

What did the body of Jesus of Nazareth actually endure during those hours of torture?

This led me first to a study of the practice of crucifixion itself; that is, torture and execution by fixation to a cross. I am indebted to many who have studied this subject in the past, and especially to a contemporary colleague, Dr. Pierre Barbet, a French surgeon who has done exhaustive historical and experimental research and has written extensively on the subject.

Apparently, the first known practice of crucifixion was by the Persians. Alexander and his generals brought it back to the Mediterranean world — to Egypt and to Carthage. The Romans apparently learned the practice from the Carthaginians and (as with almost everything the Romans did) rapidly developed a very high degree of efficiency and skill at it. A number of Roman authors (Livy, Cicer, Tacitus) comment on crucifixion, and several innovations, modifications, and variations are described in the ancient literature. For instance, the upright portion of the cross (or strips) could have the cross-arm (or patibulum) attached two or three feet below its top in what we commonly think of as the Latin cross. The most common form used in our Lord’s day, however, was the Tau cross, shaped like our T.

In this cross, the patibulum was placed in a notch at the top of the stipes. There is archeological evidence that it was on this type of cross that Jesus was crucified. Without any historical or biblical proof, Medieval and Renaissance painters have given us our picture of Christ carrying the entire cross. But the upright post, or stipes, was generally fixed permanently in the ground at the site of execution and the condemned man was forced to carry the patibulum, weighing about 110 pounds, from the prison to the place of execution.

Many of the painters and most of the sculptors of crucifixion, also show the nails through the palms.

Historical Roman accounts and experimental work have established that the nails were driven between the small bones of the wrists (radial and ulna) and not through the palms. Nails driven through the palms will strip out between the fingers when made to support the weight of the human body. The misconception may have come about through a misunderstanding of Jesus’ words to Thomas, “Observe my hands.” Anatomists, both modern and ancient, have always considered the wrist as part of the hand.

A titulus, or small sign, stating the victim’s crime was usually placed on a staff, carried at the front of the procession from the prison, and later nailed to the cross so that it extended above the head. This sign with its staff nailed to the top of the cross would have given it somewhat the characteristic form of the Latin cross.

But, of course, the physical passion of the Christ began in Gethsemane.

Of the many aspects of this initial suffering, the one of greatest physiological interest is the bloody sweat. It is interesting that St. Luke, the physician, is the only one to mention this. He says, “And being in agony, He prayed the longer. And His sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.” Every ruse (trick) imaginable has been used by modern scholars to explain away this description, apparently under the mistaken impression that this just doesn’t happen. A great deal of effort could have been saved had the doubters consulted the medical literature. Though very rare, the phenomenon of Hematidrosis, or bloody sweat, is well documented. Under great emotional stress of the kind our Lord suffered, tiny capillaries in the sweat glands can break, thus mixing blood with sweat. This process might well have produced marked weakness and possible shock.

After the arrest in the middle of the night, Jesus was next brought before the Sanhedrin and Caiphus, the High Priest; it is here that the first physical trauma was inflicted;

A soldier struck Jesus across the face for remaining silent when questioned by Caiphus. The palace guards then blind-folded Him and mockingly taunted Him to identify them as they each passed by, spat upon Him, and struck Him in the face.

In the early morning, battered and bruised, dehydrated, and exhausted from a sleepless night, Jesus is taken across the Praetorium of the Fortress Antonia, the seat of government of the Procurator of Judea, Pontius Pilate.

You are, of course, familiar with Pilate’s action in attempting to pass responsibility to Herod Antipas, the Tetrarch of Judea. Jesus apparently suffered no physical mistreatment at the hands of Herod and was returned to Pilate. It was then, in response to the cries of the mob, that Pilate ordered Bar-Abbas released and condemned Jesus to scourging and crucifixion.

There is much disagreement among authorities about the unusual scourging as a prelude to crucifixion. Most Roman writers from this period do not associate the two. Many scholars believe that Pilate originally ordered Jesus scourged as his full punishment and that the death sentence by crucifixion came only in response to the taunt by the mob that the Procurator was not properly defending Caesar against this pretender who allegedly claimed to be the King of the Jews. Preparations for the scourging were carried out when the Prisoner was stripped of His clothing and His hands tied to a post above His head. It is doubtful the Romans would have made any attempt to follow the Jewish law in this matter, but the Jews had an ancient law prohibiting more than forty lashes. The Roman legionnaire steps forward with the flagrum (or flagellum) in his hand. This is a short whip consisting of several heavy, leather thongs with two small balls of lead attached near the ends of each. The heavy whip is brought down with full force again and again across Jesus’ shoulders, back, and legs.

At first the thongs cut through the skin only.

Then, as the blows continue, they cut deeper into the subcutaneous tissues, producing first an oozing of blood from the capillaries and veins of the skin, and finally spurting arterial bleeding from vessels in the underlying muscles. The small balls of lead first produce large, deep bruises which are broken open by subsequent blows. Finally the skin of the back is hanging in long ribbons and the entire area is an unrecognizable mass of torn, bleeding tissue. When it is determined by the centurion in charge that the prisoner is near death, the beating is finally stopped.

Half-Truths and Lies

Recently I received an email from a dear friend who has been a regular reader and commenter here at the blog. I’m not going to mention the person’s name but will reveal they live outside the United States. Of course, if they decide to let them-self be known, that’s fine. :-)

The reason for sharing this is my growing distress at what we in America have become: a land of half-truths and lies, (a half-truth is still a whole lie) .

And even more tragic is the eager acceptance of  half-truths, lies and liars by more and more of God’s people.

Just as God said concerning the lies believed which were spoken by the false Prophets in Israel,

“…..and my people love to have it so:”

so we too, in today’s America where the Church now openly and proudly shares her marriage-bed with politics and politicians, “love to have it so”.  No longer do we first inquire, ‘is what I’m reading or being told really the truth’ but instead we base our acceptance or rejection of a claim now upon, ‘does it benefit my  personal politics, or political party affiliation’. And nine times out of ten, if it does, we’ll greedily accept it as ‘truth’.

Anyway, Bravo! to my friend for requesting verification.

quote…

I received this today which IF TRUE, is quite shocking. You are the American – …….can you confirm or deny please? I am loathe to believe anything without verification.

Its time for the world at large to wake up…

In 1952 President Truman established one day a year as a “National Day of Prayer.”

In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer.

In June 2007, (then) Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that the USA was no longer a Christian nation.

This year President Obama, canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the rouse of “not wanting to offend anyone” On September 25, 2009 from 4 am until 7pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill, beside the White House. There were over 50,000 Muslims that day in DC. I guess it doesn’t matter if “Christians” are offended by this event – we obviously don’t count as “anyone” anymore. The direction this country is headed should strike fear in the heart of every Christian.

Send this to ten people and the person who sent it to you!… to let them know that indeed, it was sent out to many more.

My friend, this is what I found,

From Urban Legends

Viral message claims President Obama declared that the U.S. is ‘no longer a Christian nation’ and canceled the annual National Day of Prayer ceremony ‘under the ruse of not wanting to offend anyone.’

Description: Forwarded email Circulating since: March 2010

Status: Mixed / Misleading

ANALYSIS:  The email contains a mixture of fact, fiction, and fear-mongering.

Let’s consider the claims one at a time:

CLAIM: In 1952, President Truman established one day a year as a “National Day of Prayer.”

STATUS: A bill proclaiming a National Day of Prayer was passed unanimously by Congress and Harry Truman signed it into law in April 1952. The law left it up to the President to select a date. Source: • History of the National Day of Prayer, ReligiousTolerance.org, 17 April 2007

CLAIM: In 1988, President Reagan designated the first Thursday in May of each year as the National Day of Prayer.

STATUS:  President Ronald Reagan signed bipartisan legislation making the first Thursday in May the annual National Day of Prayer in May 1988. Source: • History of the National Day of Prayer, ReligiousTolerance.org, 17 April 2007

CLAIM: In June 2007, (then) Presidential candidate Barack Obama declared that the U.S.A. was no longer a Christian nation.

STATUS:  This rumor is based on a misquote. One sentence in the text of Barack Obama’s prepared remarks for a keynote address at the Christian Sojourners “Call to Renewal” conference on June 28, 2006 (not 2007) read as follows (emphasis added):  Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.

It’s clear from the context that Obama was referring to the religious demographics of the country, not — contrary to what some people seem to believe — proclaiming an abandonment of Christian values. The statement has lent itself to frequent misquotation because Obama misspoke when he delivered the speech, saying (emphasis added): Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation — at least, not just; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.

CLAIM: President Obama canceled the 21st annual National Day of Prayer ceremony at the White House under the ruse of “not wanting to offend anyone.”

STATUS:  Obama didn’t cancel the National Day of Prayer. While it’s true that he broke with a precedent established during the Bush administration by not holding a White House ceremony on the occasion, Obama did issue a National Day of Prayer proclamation in 2009 (and again in 2010), and the annual event was observed all across the country just as it has been for many years.

Neither the President, his press secretary, nor any other member of the Obama administration characterized the decision to forgo a White House ceremony as an attempt “not to offend anyone.”

CLAIM: On September 25, 2009 from 4 am until 7 pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill.

STATUS: It wasn’t sponsored or promoted by President Obama or the U.S. government, nor was it billed as a “National Day of Prayer.” Conceived and sponsored by the leaders of a Washington, DC mosque who described it as a “day of Islamic unity,” the all-day event did feature Muslim prayers and readings from the Qur’an, and was entitled “Islam on Capital Hill.”

This Weekend at Rick Joyner’s Oak Initiative Summit

Sounds like a ‘high ole time’ was had by all at this joy-filled frolicking dominionist event. I’m only sorry I wasn’t able to attend ….

In addition to sharing a stage with Janet Porter, Rick Joyner, and Jerry Boykin at The Oak Initiative Summit, Alan Keyes was also a featured attraction on the main stage, where he ranted that God created America so that all citizens would act according to His law and to His will. But America has squandered that gift and so it is only a matter of time before God destroys this nation … and the recent earthquake in Japan is proof that such a time is getting near. (Keyes: God Is Getting Ready To Destroy America, source & video)

Addressing the dominionist Oak Initiative summit this weekend, Alan Keyes used his opportunity on stage with Janet Porter, Jerry Boykin, and Rick Joyner to urge Congress to impeach President Obama on the grounds that Obama is supporting international interventions in Libya and the Ivory Coast so as to establish a “precedent” whereby were he were to lose his reelection bid and refuse to “give up power,” the international community would intervene militarily in the US to keep him in office. (Keyes: Impeach Obama Before It’s Too Late, source & video)

And the nuts march on….

“Behold, thy King cometh..”

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Zechariah 9:9

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,  Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,  Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt. John 12:12-15

Accordingly, when, after resting over the Sabbath in Bethany, He came forth on the Sunday morning to proceed to the city, He found the streets of the village and the neighbouring roads thronged with a vast crowd, consisting partly of those who had accompanied Him on the Friday, partly of other companies who had come up behind Him from Jericho and heard of the miracles as they came along, and partly of those who, having heard that He was at hand, had flocked out from Jerusalem to see Him. They welcomed Him with enthusiasm, and began to shout, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!’ It was a Messianic demonstration such as He had formerly avoided. But now He yielded to it.

…the hour had come when no considerations could permit Him any longer to conceal from the nation the character in which He presented Himself and the claim He made on its faith. But, in yielding to the desires of the multitude that He should assume the style of a king, He made it unmistakable in what sense He accepted the honour. He sent for an ass-colt and, His disciples having spread their garments on it, rode at the head of the crowd. Not armed to the teeth or bestriding a war-horse did He come, but as the King of simplicity and peace.

The procession swept over the brow of Olivet and down the mountainside; it crossed the Kedron and, mounting the slope which led to the gate of the city, passed on through the streets to the temple. It swelled as it went, great numbers hurrying from every quarter to join it; the shouts rang louder and more loud; the processionists broke off twigs from the palms and olives, as they passed, and waved them in triumph. The citizens of Jerusalem ran to their doors and bent over their balconies to look, and asked, ‘Who is this?’ to which the processionists replied with provincial pride, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet of Nazareth.” (The Life of Jesus Christ by James Stalker)

What is the significance of the triumphal entry?

The triumphal entry is that of Jesus coming into Jerusalem on what we know as Palm Sunday, the Sunday before the crucifixion (John 12:1, 12). The story of the triumphal entry is one of the few incidents in the life of Jesus which appears in all four Gospel accounts (Matthew 21:1-17; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19:29-40; John 12:12-19). Putting the four accounts together, it becomes clear that the triumphal entry was a significant event, not only to the people of Jesus’ day, but to Christians throughout history. We celebrate Palm Sunday to remember that momentous occasion.

Jesus rides in as a conquering King and is hailed by the people as such, in the manner of the day. The streets of Jerusalem, the royal city, are open to Him, and like a king, He ascends to His palace, not a temporal palace, but the spiritual palace which is the temple, because His is a spiritual kingdom. He receives the worship and praise of the people because only He deserves it. No longer does He tell His disciples to be quiet about Him (Matthew 12:16, 16:20), but to shout His praises and worship Him openly. The spreading of cloaks was an act of homage for royalty (see 2 Kings 9:13). Jesus was openly declaring to the people that He was their King and the Messiah they had been waiting for.

Unfortunately, the praise the people lavished on Jesus was not because they recognized Him as their Messiah. They welcomed Him out of their desire for a deliverer, someone who would lead them in a revolt against Rome. There were many who, though they did not believe in Christ with a spiritual faith, nevertheless hoped that perhaps He might be to them a great temporal deliverer. These are the ones who hailed Him as King with their many Hosannas, recognizing Him as the Son of David who came in the name of the Lord.

But when He failed in their expectations, when He refused to lead them in a massive revolt against the Roman occupiers and those who collaborated with them, the crowds quickly turned on Him. Within just a few days, their Hosannas would change to cries of “Crucify Him!” (Luke 23:20-21). Those who hailed Him as a hero would soon reject and abandon Him.

The story of the triumphal entry is one of contrasts and those contrasts are the application to believers. It is the story of the King who came as a lowly servant on a donkey, not a prancing steed, not in royal robes, but on the clothes of the poor and humble. Jesus Christ comes not to conquer by force as earthly kings, but by love, grace, mercy, and His own sacrifice for His people. His is not a kingdom of armies and splendor, but of lowliness and servanthood.

He conquers not nations, but hearts and minds. His message is one of peace with God, not of temporal peace. (What is the significance of the triumphal entry?)

“Terry Jones Has Hijacked the Christian Voice”

Interesting story..

Infamous Quran-burning pastor Terry Jones has hijacked the Christian voice and caused misunderstanding about the faith as well as the U.S. government among Muslims around the world, said a Florida imam who last year prevented Jones from burning the Islamic holy book.

Imam Muhammad Musri, president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, said many overseas Muslims who saw the video of Jones putting the Quran on trial and then subsequently burning the book as punishment believe that it was done in a U.S. court and the U.S. government was behind the intentionally offensive act.

Jones, in the video, had set up his church as a makeshift court with a judge, flag, a jury box, a prosecutor, and defense stand. During the March 20 mock trial, the Quran was found “guilty of causing murder, rape and terrorism” and was burned as punishment. Jones maintained that a separate jury delivered the guilty verdict.

“So in their view the U.S. government carried on this trial,” explained Musri in an Odyssey Networks video posted Wednesday. “So the Terry Joneses of the world are hijacking the Christian voice and the Muslim world is seeing the West from the point of view that these are the Christians, these are the Americans.” Although there was little media coverage of the mock trial in the United States, a video of the trial posted online made its way to predominantly Muslim nations, including Afghanistan. Afghan President Hamid Karzai denounced the burning of the Quran and called on the U.S. government to prosecute those responsible for the action.

“At the same time, extremist Muslims, like the Taliban or Bin Laden [or] al Qaeda, are hijacking the Muslim voice,” said the Muslim leader…. “So the extremists make the most noise on both sides, and the vast majority of peaceful people in the middle have no voice,” he said. “You don’t hear the voice of major Christian leaders in this country. more

Quote of the Day

Joel was left in a state of “aghast-ness” (don’t bother looking it up, there is no such word) at Gov. Scott Walker’s reply to a question asked by Dennis Kucinich. :-)

Walker wins, hands down, the prize for ‘Quote of the Day’

I am aghast. Scott Walker lied. It wasn’t about money;

Today, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform called Govs. Scott Walker (R-WI) and Peter Shumlin (D-VT) to testify in a hearing titled “State and Municipal Debt: Tough Choices Ahead.” Much of the hearing was spent probing Wisconsin’s spate of anti-union restrictions it recently passed.

Dennis Kucinich: “Let me ask you about some of the specific provisions in your proposals to strip collective bargaining rights. First, your proposal would require unions to hold annual votes to continue representing their own members. Can you please explain to me and members of this committee how much money this provision saves for your state budget?”

WALKER: ”It doesn’t save any”

A Thousand US Christians want to join IDF

HT to Steve at Apostasy Watch

The new Christian settlers

Will US Christians settle in Samaria? About 1,000 Americans have signed a document requesting to convert to Judaism, move to Israel, and settle in Samaria. The group members are seeking to serve in the IDF and later establish communities based on the Kibbutz movement model. The document was presented to Yisrael Beiteinu Knesset Member Lia Shemtov, who met with the group’s representative last week and promised to offer her help in facilitating the initiative.

The Christian group’s representative, Baruch Abramovich, said he was hopeful that MK Shemtov would be able to elicit the government’s support for the initiative.

Ironically, the venture received a boost through the help of priests at some 70 different churches in the US, who last summer urged their followers to boycott Abramovich and his new community. The broad media coverage attracted many new participants to the initiative.

The Christian group seeks to purchase land in Samaria, and Abramovich says that in Missouri alone a community of some 400 people is already keeping the Shabbat. “They manage collective kibbutz life and aspire to create such community in Samaria, or in any area that would like to absorb people who truly love Israel and the Jewish religion,” he said. My 7 Years Working for the Elijah List

By Kevin Kleint…

In The Beginning

It’s been about 3 years since I ended my employment with the Elijah List.

It started around the year 2000. I was working for Hewlett-Packard and, through the grapevine, I learned of this daily email newsletter that published “prophecies” to around 30,000 people. This was back in the “text-only” days, where you received only 1 email per day. At the time, I was going to a “Word of Faith” church and I had a very strong foundation in the Word of God. Still, I knew that there was another element in my Walk with God that I wasn’t experiencing yet. I longed for the Reality of His Presence…. to actually SEE the working of God and to KNOW and EXPERIENCE Him more.

As I daily studied the words that I received from the Elijah List, this desire grew. I grew dissatisfied and frustrated with the church I was attending. “They just don’t GET IT!” I told myself. So I determined in my heart that I would find out where I could learn about this “New Thing” that God was doing and I and my family would be there when God showed up!

At the time, I was listening to our local Christian radio station, and they had an hour of worship where they would play worship music from Vineyard, Morningstar, RevivalNow, etc. Having been exposed to Maranatha, Hosanna Integrity, Ron Kenoly and Hillsongs in the 80′s and 90′s, this new “style” of worship music just sent me soaring. I would sit at my computer and just weep, longing for the intimacy with Jesus that they sang about. The only church in our area that played this kind of music in their services was the Vineyard, the home church of Steve Shultz and most of the people that worked for the Elijah List. As soon as I found this out, I said “Goodbye” to my family at the Word of Faith church and started going to the Vineyard.

I didn’t know what I was getting into.

The above is the intro to an interesting nine-part series well worth checking out.. You will find the series posted at Zion Fire

Peace

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. (Romans 5: 1-11)

“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Can the New Apostles and Prophets Seize Dominion by Political Intermarriage?

Dr. Orrel Steinkamp has written a very good article at Herescope.

A few quotes..

“How far into compromise will pastors go to “re-establish” America as a Christian nation? Has that become more important to them than serving the Lord and preaching the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ WITHOUT COMPROMISE? If establishing the lie this kingdom of God on earth is so important that the Gospel fades in comparison, what are they willing to do next. . . ?”[1]

On April 12-13 there is scheduled “The Government Transformation Summit for Visionary Leaders” in San Antonio. It is also called “Justice at the Gate.” Some of the leading speakers introduced to us are: Ed Silvoso, considered by many as the father of the Nation Transforming Movement, and Jim Garlow, pastor of Skyline Church in San Diego, the one tapped by Newt Gingrich to be the Chairman of Gingrich’s Renewing American Leadership committed to freedom, faith and free markets. The introduction continues:

“Expand your vision to a movement [notice not the church, ed.] forging an intersection of worship, reconciliation [the new meaning of the term, ed.] Governance Systems and Nation-Changing transformation [notice the bringing together of transformation and Dominionism, ed.].”

The Dominionists are now hitting the political big-time. There was a conference scheduled at Liberty University on April 8-9 sponsored by Freedom Federation called Awakening 2011. Broadcast on C-Span for the first time, it included 60 nationally known political operatives and many Dominionist personalities.

The politicos included: Newt Gingrich, Rep. Mike Spence, Gary Bauer, Frank Gaffney, Marco Rubio and Michele Bachmann.

The Dominionist Clergy included Rick Joyner, Lou Engle, Cindy Jacobs and David Barton.

Then, just recently on March 25-26, the Iowa Renewal Project “Rediscovering God in America” was held. This political event included pure politicians and Dominionist/Tea Party clergy. Included were George Barna, evangelical pollster and Jesuit trained. Barna in his 2009 book Master Leaders: Revealing Conversations with 30 Leadership Greats extolled as leadership greats New Age sympathizers Ken Blanchard, Laurie Beth Jones, and emergent futurist Erwin McManus. Also as speaker was Mike Huckabee, Southern Baptist presidential candidate anointed by apostle Lou Engle’s apostolic hands. Also speaking was well known politico Newt Gingrich, a presidential candidate and a lapsed Baptist and recent Catholic convert and serial adulterer. Other speakers included Minnesota’s own Michele Bachmann, the Oral Roberts trained Word/Faith Congresswomen.

Mike Huckabee has previously accepted an endorsement by and spoken at a “Watchmen on the Walls” convention. Watchmen on the Walls is a Joel’s Army radical Dominionist group active in Ex-USSR countries but with a major presence among Russian and Slavic emigrants.

I have in the last year written about the convergence of the New Apostolic Reformation and the Christian Right. Some articles on the net include: “The Coalescing of the Christian Right with Apostolic Dominionism,” “R&R Revival and Revolt: The Tea Party’s Strange Bedfellows and What They Believe,” and “Mary Glazier: Wagner’s NAR Chief Prophetess In Alaska.”

Some months have passed and now these political apostles no longer feel any need to hide their political intentions and associations.

Those promoting God’s absolute rule upon the earth have become bedfellows with national politicians and are calling for the Kingdom of God to be politically instituted first in America and then around the world. This is a convergence that goes well beyond elections cycles. It is a union of national politicians and clergy who share not only political views but also share a vision for a Christian political domination for the whole world, in order to bring Jesus back to the earth. They no longer wait for a King from heaven but are straining to establish a political kingdom of God upon the earth before The King can return. Their goals are like hidden leaven within American politics, disguising their real agenda from unsuspecting voters.

Rachael Tabachnick, in her report, “The Rise of Charismatic Dominionism,” explained:

“These Christian warriors would no longer be constrained by having to wait for a future Rapture. The battle against evil to bring about the millennial utopia would not wait for divine intervention, but be initiated by human hands – an army of Christian warriors bringing about the Kingdom, now.”

This is a major shift. Twenty-five years ago Pentecostals and evangelicals were all awaiting the Rapture. Now many, if not most, are on board looking to gain control of society and government, postponing the Rapture till the earth is one huge Christian caliphate. Tabachnick observed, “A newer and potent movement has emerged like a phoenix from the ashes of Darby’s Dispensationalism.”

If time allows, please read the entire article, (Can the New Apostles and Prophets Seize Dominion by Political Intermarriage? Can God’s Supposed Lost Dominion Be Regained By Mere Political Means?). In my opinion it’s very important. Folks, if we cannot discern what is taking place right before our eyes, well, frankly we are in serious danger of being a part of this deception.

I would also like to thank Dr. Steinkamp for personally notifying me about this latest article. God bless you brother for continuing to sound the alarm on a topic which I know from experience brings serious back-lash from many Christians.

The Blood & The Mercy Seat

“It is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul” (Lev. 17: 11).

“There I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy-seat” (Exod. 25: 22).

“Him hath God set forth to be a propitiation” (Rom. 3. 25)

Reader! have you ever laid to heart that this is THE TRUTH concerning the blood of Christ—that there is immediate pardon for every sinner believing in it, and resting upon it?

The broken law proclaims that the wages of sin is death. The sinner’s hope is not a hope procured upon any other terms. If it were so, where. or when for a moment, would the sinner be safe? It would be but a saying, “Peace, peace,” while the law said there was no peace. No. Salvation is not an unrighteous compromise between the law and the Gospel. The law’s terms to the sinner are, “The wages of sin is death.” And the law’s terms to the sinner’s Surety are, “The wages of sin is death.” God does not take the believer’s five talents for the hundred which he owed, and call them a hundred, in order that his saving love might reach him. But for the hundred talents which he owed, Christ has paid a hundred—paid the uttermost farthing. The law required perfect obedience, and blood. Christ, as the sinner’s Surety, has rendered perfect obedience, and blood.

Here is peace for the guilty, rest for the weary. Behold this blood! Behold, in what it has done in all generations, the power of that blood to bring far off sinners nigh! Behold that mercy-seat, where the precious atonement-blood is sprinkled? There God is waiting to be gracious—waiting to meet you! There, and there only, the Holy One can meet with the guilty, and be reconciled. There is salvation to the uttermost, to all who will draw near. That blood offers immediate forgiveness. It is the plea which God Himself, with whom we have to do, has furnished to the perishing sinner. Will He not accept His own plea ?—

“the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by Him who do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead and gave Him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God” (1 Peter. 1. 21).

….it is where the blood is, that mercy for sinners is to be found… Therefore, the place where mercy can be found, is the place where the blood is. No other place, O sinner…(and) to that place you may come—nay, must come, if you would escape the wrath of God.

The Mercy Seat (Andrew Bonar: 1810-1892)

Kim Clement, “…there shall be a woman that shall rise up”

O for crying out-loud, not again!

Seems I recall a number of prophetic words making the rounds about both a modern-day “Esther” and a Deborah just  prior to the November election in 2008. (How’d That Work Out for Ya?)

quote…

There is a president who will come. And God says, “He will have absolutely no fear – absolutely no fear. He will be decisive, he will make decisions. And then in the middle of the restoration of America – rapidly because of a source of energy that shall come quickly, and because of medical breakthroughs, and because of agreements between nations (specifically China)..

God says, “Listen to Me. As the beginning of the restoration, as it begins, there shall be a woman that shall rise up – a woman that shall be strong in faith; virtuous. Beautiful in eyes – her eyes shall be so beautiful. Her eyes shall be round and big. I have crowned her,” says the Lord, “as I crowned Esther. And the people shall receive her. She shall have the oil of gladness for the pain and the mourning that has taken place, and she shall pour out the oil.” (Is there some oil here, please?) “She shall pour out the oil on this nation, and,” God says, “healing shall begin and then it shall flow rapidly.

And God says, “They will say, ‘We hated her, but now we love her.’ For she shall take the oil of healing and she shall pour it upon the scars of those left and those right and of the new party that has come forth and emerged, where they shall say, ‘Christ will reign and we shall not implement socialism at all,’ ….

Man Tears up Bible in Pakistan to ‘Avenge’ Quran Burning

ISLAMABAD – A 24-year-old Muslim man desecrated the Bible at the gates of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lahore on Friday in order to “avenge” extremist American preacher Terry Jones’ desecration of the Quran in Florida last month.

Police arrested the man, identified as Akhtar Hussain, a resident of the neighboring district of Kasur, and registered a case against him under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Section 295-A states:

“Whoever, with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the ‘religious feelings of any class of the citizens of Pakistan, by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representations insults the religion or the religious beliefs of that class, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, or with fine, or with both.”

The sources told The Christian Post that the guards denied Hussain entry into the church when he told them his name, and the church administration asked him why he wanted to go into the church. Hussain told them that he wanted to burn the Bible in the church just as Terry Jones and his fellow preacher Wayne Sapp had conducted a trial of the Quran in their church. The Muslim man then suddenly took out the Christian holy book he had hidden inside his clothes and proceeded to tear it apart. The guards captured Hussain and called the police, who arrested him along with the evidence.  (link)

Rick Joyner: Jim Bakker is a Prophet, “Plus”…..

Joyner has recently been in over-drive when it comes to issuing his special video “bulletins”. Not since he used this same venue to routinely defend Todd Bentley and (ultimately) “re” promote Todd’s ministry, do I recall receiving so many email alerts linking to the latest video “bulletin”. The one mentioned below is the latest…

Since the Japan earthquake, Joyner has been posting half-hour long “special bulletins” on a regular basis seeking to explain what it all means – he has posted five to date and I have watched every one. Mostly they consist of Joyner talking in circles and rambling on vaguely about signs and prophets and what have you …

but today Joyner began discussing something that caught my attention: namely, that Jim Bakker is also a prophet who foresaw 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and the earthquake in Japan..  (more and video at RWW)

I noticed Bakker has continued the practice of offering strange ‘love gifts’ to supporters of his ministry.

Steve Lumbley (ApostasyWatch) linked to a recent message posted by JD Ellis at EndTimeDelusion. I hope you will check it out.

quote…

There’s nothing that whets the appetite of an internet prophet/watchman more than natural disaster. The catastrophic events in Japan are providing the self-appointed watchmen with more fodder to pass on to their listeners as “proof” that God’s hand of judgment is upon the land because of unrepentance for sin…

You can hear the obvious excitement in their voices when they discuss it. Each new disaster will be the “Big One”, that will prove beyond doubt they are truly modern-day prophets of God, and for the good of ourselves and our families, we should listen to and support their ministries, so they’ll keep us informed about how to escape the effects of the “judgment.” Reliance on God’s word alone is not something they actively encourage.

See, Disaster and the False Teachers

Florida pastor Terry Jones, “We do not feel responsible”

What an idiot…

Responding to news that Florida pastor Terry Jones had last week burnt the Quran, a mob of Afghans in the relatively calm city of Mazar-i-Sharif ransacked the United Nations headquarters there, killing 12 people. Last year, Jones sparked widespread condemnation when he threatened to burn a copy of the Quran outside his church. While he ultimately decided against it after pleas from high ranking U.S. officials such as Gen. David Petraeus and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Jones last week burned the Quran after a supposed “trial” of the Muslim holy book at his church..

Violent protests in Afghanistan have now spread as far south as Kandahar. However, Jones feels no sense of responsibility. “We do not feel responsible,” he said on Friday. “We feel more that the Muslims and radical Islam uses that as an excuse.” Now, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Jones says he might also put the prophet Mohammad on trial:

Terry Jones, the radical pastor who oversaw the burning of a Koran in his Florida church last month after a mock court hearing, may put the Islamic prophet Mohammed on trial in his next ‘day of judgement’, he told The Sunday Telegraph.

“It is definitely a consideration to stage a trial on the life of Mohammed in the future,” he said in interview on Saturday.

Radical Pastor Terry Jones Says He’s Considering ‘A Trial On The Life Of Mohammed’

From a transcript of the ABC News interview with Pastor Terry Jones:

“Nightline” anchor Bill Weir: Everyone from President Obama to Secretary Gates to General Petraeus implored you not to do this and you told us back in September that that actually helped change your mind and backed you off a bit. So why did you go through with this earlier this month? Why did you burn a Koran after all?

Pastor Terry Jones: Well, like you said, we did decide to cancel our “International Burn the Koran Day.” We still wanted to make an awareness of the radical element of Islam. We wondered how could we do that. How could we give Islam a fair shake, give them an opportunity? As you realize “International Burn a Koran day,” that was of course somewhat of a lopsided story. We had that the Koran was guilty, that we were going to burn the Koran as a protest against the radical element of Islam. After that was canceled, we still wanted to continue our campaign raising an awareness of this dangerous religion and this dangerous element. After this much though we came up with “International Judge the Koran Day.” We decided we would put the Koran on trial. We had reps from the Muslim community, we had Imam here. We had people who converted from Islam to Christianity. We had a prosecuting attorney. A defense attorney. And the Koran was put on trial.

Weir: And who was the judge and jury in your trial?

Jones: I was the judge, but I did not determine the verdict. I was just a type of referee to make sure everybody got their fair time to defend the Koran or make a defense against the Koran.

Weir: And who was the jury? Who was the jury — who condemned the Koran?

Jones: Individuals mainly from around Florida.

Jones: If the Koran was found guilty then there were four forms of punishment by which the people could choose. Those forms were burning, shredding, rounding and the Koran would face the firing squad. The one that the people chose was burning–that was why the Koran was burned after it was found guilty.

Weir: So just to be clear in the piece, your jury was made up of random Floridians or members of your congregations or people from your community?

Jones: Made of random people from around Florida — yes. We put an invitation out to people who wanted to be on the jury, and these were the people who expressed a desire to do that.

Weir: When you got news of today’s deadly riots there in Afghanistan, what was the first thought that went through your head?

Jones: Yeah, yeah of course we were very saddened and devastated by that. It is of course a terrible thing anytime anyone is killed. Anytime someone’s life is cut short through murder or even accident. I think it definitely does prove that there is a radical element of Islam. (link)

quote…

I think it definitely does prove that there is a radical element of Islam

True. But what this also proves is there is a dangerous radical element hiding behind Christianity.

This guy is a dangerous fool.

The Awakening 2011 to be aired on C-SPAN

C-SPAN plans to broadcast live The Awakening 2011, which will be held on the campus of Liberty University April 8-9. This will be the first time C-SPAN has come to Liberty University. More than 60 national speakers will make presentations at The Awakening 2011, which will include plenary sessions, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and live music by SonicFlood and other bands and singers. This year’s theme is Raising our Voices: Equipping and Empowering a New Revolution. (C-SPAN to Broadcast The Awakening 2011 Conference)

The Dominionist’s have finally wormed their way into the ‘big time’.

You can check out the list here. But just as interesting is the list of groups noted as Featured Members on the left-hand side of their page. There you will find a number of familiar names and ministries, including those of Rick Joyner and his Oak Initiative, Cindy Jacobs and her Generals International, and Lou Engle of The Call.

Also noticed David Brog, executive director of Hagee’s Christians United for Israel is on the schedule to speak along with the reigning ‘conspiracy king’ Joseph Farah of WND, and the man himself, Rick Joyner. Sharing the spotlight are politicians Michele Bachmann, Ken Blackwell, Newt Gingrich, etc. and a number of Take Back America activists. (link)

If someone would have told me 5 years ago I would see a line-up like this (united) on C-SPAN… I probably wouldn’t have believed it.

Dominionism and the 7 Mountain Movement

Bruce Wilson at Talk2Action has put together a very interesting post, The Social Transformation Conference & the 7M Movement

The article includes a number of links plus a 5 minute video. Below are a few quotes…

On April 1-2, 2011, the Harvard Extension Service and Learning Society will host, at the Harvard Northwest Science Building, the “Social Transformation Conference”. The upcoming event has already generated considerable controversy, and Truth Wins Out, a “Non-profit organization that defends the GLBT community against anti-gay misinformation campaigns”, plans to run a full page ad in the Harvard Crimson, on Thursday March 31st, protesting the event–which is being billed as advancing the “Seven Mountains” program. One of the scheduled speakers is linked (intimately) with a professed co-author of Uganda’s so-called “kill the gays bill”, and the 7 Mountains movement is already impacting US national politics.

Prominently featured on the Social Transformation Conference website is a professionally-produced video on the “Seven Mountains mandate”, which instructs “Bible believing” Christians to seek control of seven key sectors of society: education, government, media, business, arts & entertainment, religion, and the family. According to the video, the “church” must regain control of those sectors, which are now occupied by “darkness”.

The Seven Mountains concept is a vision for the total eradication of secular society and church-state separation. Os Hillman and Lance Wallnau, two of the scheduled Social Transformation Conference speakers, are in the vanguard of promoting the 7M idea, which Wallnau calls “a template for warfare.” The ‘Seven Mountains movement’ is a newly formed global Protestant mega-denomination that has coalesced out of independent charismatic Christianity; Four of the speakers, Hillman, Wallnau, Pat Francis, and Bill Hamon, are all apostles within the biggest organizational body in this movement, the International Coalition of Apostles (ICA), launched in 2001 [see footnote #1], and three are on the ICA’s elite “Apostolic Council”.

One apostle, Bill Hamon, serves, along with The Call founder Lou Engle, on the Apostolic Council of Prophetic Elders (ACPE), the top prophetic body of the Seven Mountains movement, whose prophets profess to communicate directly with, and receive prophetic insight, from God. ACPE prophet Mary Glazier has suggested that believers will drive the unrighteous from “the land” ….

Leaders of the NAR/Seven Mountains movement are aggressively working to move from the fringes into the mainstream. While their underlying ideology is extreme compared to traditional fundamentalism, they have managed to re-brand as pseudo-progressive by emphasizing ethnic and racial inclusivity (towards the creation of a new ‘rainbow right’)..

The Seven Mountains/NAR leadership is being aggressively courted by top-level Republican Party politicians including several who may run for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination (including Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, and Michele Bachmann (see footnote #2)), and its leaders over the past two years have shared stages with many Republican senators and Congress members, including Senator Jim DeMint and former Senator Sam Brownback, now governor of Kansas, who was Lou Engle’s roommate for seven months, in a rented Washington DC condominium, as Brownback confirmed in September 2010.

The movement has developed its own Biblical scripture-based lingo, through which its apostles and prophets can communicate political ideas in a manner that outsiders almost wholly miss…

RELIGIOUS TROJAN HORSE: THE DANGERS OF DOMINION THEOLOGY: PART ONE
