Churches asked to rededicate the nation to God

Tragically, Christians in America today are more concerned with the fruitless efforts of publicly “dedicating America to God”, then they are seeking God for ways in which to heed His command to, Go into all the world and preach the gospel…Go ye therefore, and make disciples ”  (Mark 16, Matthew 28).

ChristianPost,

Churches across the U.S. are being asked to rededicate the nation to God during their Sunday services on July 3.

Pastor Steven Andrew, author of “Making a Strong Christian Nation,” is inviting churches to participate in the national covenant prayer as an affirmation of God’s sovereignty over the U.S. and a reminder of the Founding Fathers.

Free resources have been made available by USA Christian Ministries, including a handout and church bulletin insert to enable the congregation to say the prayer together.

“We are encouraging all churches to include the covenant insert in their bulletins on Sunday, July 3,” said Andrew. “We also ask individuals and other patriotic groups like the Tea Party, homeschool groups and pro-life America to distribute the handout and to pray the covenant on July 4. “Pastors know that a national covenant with God brings God’s blessings, including God’s presence, protection and economic prosperity.” (full article at link)

I get the impression many folks have never understood the spiritual transition from the ‘Moses’ train (old covenant) to the ‘Jesus’ train (new covenant).

  1. Here is the so called ” covenant” prayer that these people are encouraging other folks to pray
    Quote
As Your Christian nation, we affirm our covenant: You, the LORD, are the God of the USA and we are Your people. Jesus is our King. We obey what You say in the Holy Bible. We love You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. We love one another as Jesus loved us. We ask You to forgive our sins by Jesus’ sacrifice.

and here is an excerpt from the article

    Quote
“Pastors know that a national covenant with God brings God’s blessings, including God’s presence, protection and economic prosperity.

Folks could be forgiven here for thinking that ” pastors” should have more than just a passing interest in doctrinal issues, but apparently this is not a necessity in this day and age.Just what is ” our ” covenant ? , I only know of one covenant, and that is the covenant of Christ with His holy nation. Honestly , is it any wonder that the church is faltering, these halfwits have got to get on board with the truth . As for the rest of the ” covenant” , i suspect they are only paying lip service .

  2. Amen. Great article.

  3. How do you know if you appease God enough with your dedication prayer

I thought Lou Engle and his cohorts dealt with this on 7/7/07?

Will he do something else on 11/11/11 that will do the trick?

  4. I just want to know, if this is a rededication, how many times came before? Guess it didn’t stick.

  5. It is unbiblical and arrogant to presume that we can initiate covenant with the Living God. He has established His covenant from everlasting, and we enter into it by faith when we obey the gospel of Jesus Christ now that we are living in the New testament age. It is like bringing strange fire if we think we can initiate covenant.

Biblical teaching seems to imply that now since Pentecost we are not to swear oaths nor enter into covenants of our own making, at all. Because we no longer belong to ourselves.

These covenant promoters are seeking blessing and prosperity, not the glory of God forever.
