“Now is the time for concerned Jews to reach out to their Evangelical friends…”

Fascinating…

(Jerusalem Post: By ABRAHAM COOPER AND YITZCHOK ADLERSTEIN, the dean and director of interfaith relations at the Simon Wiesenthal Center)

Now is the time for concerned Jews to reach out to their Evangelical friends and expose the Palestinian assault on the lovers of Zion of two faiths.

Evangelical and conservative Christians – Israel’s most important allies – are increasingly targeted for conversion from Christian Zionism to Christian Palestinianism.

One of the most troubling purveyors of this stealth theo-terrorism lies within sight of Jerusalem. In 2010, Palestinian Christians convened the Christ at the Checkpoint (CATC) conference under the aegis of the Bethlehem Bible College, aimed specifically at Evangelicals. CATC repudiated Christian Zionism as a false teaching, an erroneous misreading and manipulation of Scripture….

The “affirmations” representing the beliefs of the organizers have already been published. They include the supplanting of Christian Zionism with a supersessionist understanding of Scripture that leaves no room for Jews. In other words, all Scriptural covenants with the Jewish people, as well as its religious dignity, have been replaced and abrogated. While most Christians have always believed that the New Testament fulfilled the Hebrew Scripture, many Evangelicals found room for a continued relationship between Jews, Divine promises, and even the physical Land of Israel…

Another affirmation deals with Jewish Zionism.

“Modern Zionism is a political movement created to meet the aspirations of Jews around the world who longed for a homeland,” it begins, quickly growing ugly: “It has become ethnocentric, privileging one people at the expense of others.”

So, Zionism wasn’t always equal to racism, but it is today, according to CATC’s organizers. The UN’s debunked “Zionism is Racism” has been reborn in theological garb, absorbed and preached by some who a few years ago were among Israel’s greatest allies.

  1. ‘Evangelical and conservative Christians – Israel’s most important allies – are increasingly targeted for conversion from Christian Zionism to Christian Palestinianism.’

    Interesting…..

Hang on, I thought Christianity was heresy as far as Jews are concerned?

I guess Zionists don’t care as long as you’re ‘their kind’ of heretic……

    • Yes, i thought it was interesting too Steve.

“Christian Palestinianism”….thats a new one, never heard the term. But i have a hunch its a term we’re going to see tossed around from those who promote “Christan” Zionism.

Hang on, I thought Christianity was heresy as far as Jews are concerned?

It seems to only be heresy if you’re presenting the Gospel of Christ. If we promise to leave out any mention of salvation through Jesus Christ and just agree to support and defend any and all actions taken by the Israeli government, well, i guess we’re alright. Just ask John Hagee. :-(

    • Steve, I really seems like “Christian” Zionists and Jewish Zionists have this strange co-dependency as they try to substitute an earthly Zion for the heavenly one.

  2. ‘Christian Palestinianism’ is a phrase coined by an English guy called Paul Wilkinson, who’s trying to make a name for himself with a very poorly written diatribe against basically everyone who’s standing up for Palestinian rights whether Christian or not. He’s just a common or garden ‘BDS is 1933 all over again’ Hasbara puppet. Yawn……. Good buzzword though.

I’d drop a link here, but I wouldn’t want this site to give his work any Google Juice.

Just Google ‘Paul Wilkinson Christian Palestinianism’

Sorry for sounding un Christian, but people who can happily ignore or even allow what’s occurring in the Holy Land based on their own agenda of ushering in the rapture don’t get a lot of my time.

    Regards

    Steve

  3. Everyone loves an ally, regardless of who that ally may be. One can be shocked that Jews fighting underground against British occupiers wrote to the leader Britain’s #1 enemy for help. His name was Adolph Hitler.

  4. Thanks again for the info Steve. I downloaded Paul Wilkinson’s document on the subject. After reading through it once, i want to go through it again more slowly.

  5. Guess the reaching out has started,

Israel Builds New ‘Gospel Trail’ to Draw Christians

Perhaps once (or if) the Palestinians are ever able to move about freely (Israel prevents Palestinians from free movement) we Christians may have a “Gospel Trail” through Gaza. (yes, im being sarcastic) ;-)

  6. The whole relationship between Zionists and premillenial Christians leaves me dumbfounded. Jews will happily let Christians work on their kibbutzes, donate to the Zionist cause, stand their corner with the belief that 2/3rds of Israel will be wiped out in some end times scenario that sees the return of Christ.

Conversely, Zionists are well aware of the Christian view that demands that Jews are cannon fodder in the end times, but are happy to treat Christian Zionists as useful idiots as long as the support and money rolls in and the criticism doesn’t.

PJ, I don’t know if you’ve read Paul Wlkinson’s tract fully, but did you notice the themes of shallow reasoning, guilt by association, obscurantism and misrepresentation. I particularly like the way he points out photographs where Christians are in dialogue with Iranians and a photo of the Ayatollah is in view as if it’s a bad thing.

I thought Jesus asked us to be peacemakers? You can’t make peace with your friends…….

He goes on to say that Ahmedinijad said he wanted to wipe Israel off the map. In fact he was quoting Ayatollah Khomeini who said that (paraphrased) ‘Like Nazism and Communism, Zionism will be wiped from the pages of history’, which is not an inaccurate statement.

Personally, I believe in an end time salvation of Israel, although not in an apocalyptic scenario. The issue at hand is Israel’s behaviour. Christian Zionism purposely shuts down all criticism, which I believe is gross error.

    Regards

    Steve

  7. In light of these following verses; and, what is implied by them and the fact that the gift of “eternal Life” is knowing Three Eternal Persons, in holiness, intimately, personally and, “now”, in this life before we, too, pass to Paradise, this is what is about to happen on planet earth and among all people groups, tongues, tribes and kindred so any theory other than it, is moot:

Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
Eph 1:8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight
Eph 1:9 making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ
Eph 1:10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
2Pe 3:11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,
2Pe 3:12 waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!
2Pe 3:13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

Heb_11:10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. ….Heb_13:14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.

One’s focus on the earth should grow and grow strangely dim in light of this coming city, this new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells, don’t you think?

Only a fool has his eyes on the ends of the earth!

Now, of course, one has to have had received gladly the gift of personally knowing and loving and growing in Grace and Truth, Eternal Life, for one to set one’s affections on things above and not on that land literally promised to a man, who we see parenthetically from Scripture really didn’t pay much attention to it in light of the real prize, the belief in that City that Promises Eternal Glory in Christ!

I have been around a lot. Been to about thirty countries on all seven continents.

I have been to some very breath taking places, seen some amazing sights and heard some amazing sounds in parts of the world these last 50 years. I can confidently say eye hath not seen, nor ear heard nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has in store for His Children “after” the great banquet that we are getting prepared for, which is to come to pass soon! That great banquet is going to be one fabulous feast in its own Righteousness, Peace and Joy!

What is to come afterwards no earthly mind has contemplated nor can it contemplate it as the Scriptures teach:

1Co 2:8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
1Co 2:9 But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”–
1Co 2:10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
1Co 2:11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
1Co 2:12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.
1Co 2:13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
1Co 2:14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 2:15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one.
1Co 2:16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

    • One’s focus on the earth should grow and grow strangely dim in light of this coming city, this new heavens and new earth in which righteousness dwells, don’t you think?

      Michael, i agree.

Looking back over the last few years, i have to laugh. When i first became aware of the growing dimness or disinterest in the things of this world which had always been so important, i actually thought there was something “wrong” with me, ahahaha!

  8. Pj you said… “looking back over the last few years, i have to laugh. When i first became aware of the growing dimness or disinterest in the things of this world which had always been so important, i actually thought there was something ‘wrong’ with me, ahahaha!”
You have taken my words right out of my mouth dear sister ;)
