Fellowship
Welcome to the world Avery Marie!
My first great grand-child, Avery Marie, made her appearance this afternoon, all six pounds, 13 ounces… Mother and baby are doing great!
O’ JOYOUS EASTER MORNING
“The Lord is risen indeed!” Luke 24:34 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto […]
Just Sharing
I hope everyone had a nice Christmas…filled with joy and peace. My immediate family (kids, grand-kids, sis..) celebrated by gathering at my daughter and son-in-law’s home Christmas eve, for food and fellowship: it was really nice. I found myself once more thanking the Lord (and reminding everyone of the blessing) of yet another time to […]
O’ Holy Night
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining, It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining. Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth. A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn. Fall on your knees! […]
Giving Thanks
“For infinite goodness there should be measureless thanks.” “We sing not of a hidden God, Who sleeps and leaves the church to her fate, but of One Who ever in our darkest days is most near, a very present help in trouble.” – (Charles Spurgeon) Oh, give thanks to the Lord […]
Monday Thought…
Reading in the Jamieson, Faussett, and Brown bible commentary tonight I came upon this, “When the fire of religion burns low, true believers should draw the nearer together, to keep the holy flame alive. Coals separated soon go out” Isn’t that a wonderfully wise admonition? I loved it.
Adoration
I wept when stumbling upon this tonight at youtube. It has to be at least 25 years since I last heard it. So many memories flooded by mind…good memories of being taught by the Holy Spirit what real worship was…
Happy 2010! and a Look Back…

Tired, but extremely Grateful
I just wanted to take the time tonight to offer public praise to God for the last 2 weeks. Last year I had requested prayer for my younger sister Libby, who shortly after suddenly losing her husband, was diagnosed with cancer. Things did not look good for many months as she underwent chemo at the […]
Prayer for B.H. Clendennen
You may recall the post (and video link) posted last month concerning Pastor Clendennen, A Message to God’s Elect from B.H. Clendennen. This evening Randy Munter (The Old Time Gospel) sent along the link to a story which appeared today at the Beaumont Enterprise about Pastor Clendennen’s time in the Military: Ministry now calling for […]
When Christians Disagree
George Whitefield and Charles Wesley, both great preachers and fathers of the faith, disagreed on points of doctrine; some even called it a feud. After many years someone asked Whitefield if he expected to see Wesley in Heaven. After a moment the old preacher shook his head and said, “No, I don’t suppose I will. […]

Thank You Folks!
As I’m readying to log off, I see the stats are soon to roll over to 1,000,000 views! One million! Wow! When I began this little blog my original intention was to just have a place to voice my thoughts or post something which interested me: I didn’t really think about anyone else ever reading […]
Are you “Abnormal?”
Fun post up at Polycarp’s blog: Rorschach and Wikipedia – What do you see? P.S.- let me know if you find out you have abnormal tendencies. AHA!

Hi folks! I wanted to take a moment to ask you to lift up one of the frequent contributors here at Sola, brother Thomas Watkins. Tom recently had a heart attack, and though he is home now and back to offering his always insightful comments, he could still use our prayers. His hope is to […]
“Thought” to ponder this Week…
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the (*living) epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:4 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, […]
Top Ten Reason the Dispensationalist Did Not Cross the Road
From Parchment and Pen: 10. Thought he would be raptured before he got there anyway. 9. Thought that the other side was for the ‘Israel’, and this side was for the ‘church’. 8. Charles Ryrie was still on this side of the road, why cross? 7. Thought it was pointless since Jesus was just going […]
Strolling Down Memory Lane: “You Don’t Love God..”
For all my fellow southerners: one you might recall hearing in your Church.

Deception, Prophecy, Judgment, and Idols
“THEN CAME certain of the elders of Israel to me and sat before me. And the word of the Lord came to me: Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and put the stumbling block of their iniquity and guilt before their faces; should I permit Myself to be […]
The Fallen, Church Discipline, and Restoration
This is one topic we don’t hear much about today–which is strange in the face of so many Christian leaders who have fallen. Then again, perhaps its not so strange, for most never acknowledge they HAVE fallen! Anyway, this evening I came upon a news article concerning fallen leader Ted Haggard and thought it could […]
For a side of ham and a bushel of corn…
This story had me laughing today. I was doing some research on the old Brush Arbor days in Church history, and happened upon this account. From SmithvilleChurch, How An Old-Time Preacher Handled Mischief One of the best known preachers of the first half of the twentieth century was J. D. Tant (1861 -1941). My Dad […]
