Thank God For His Great Gift Of Laughter

“It is said that Dr. Theodore Cuyler and Mr. Spurgeon were once out in the fields enjoying God’s sunshine and the beauties of nature. Dr. Cuyler told a story at which Mr. Spurgeon laughed until his sides shook. Suddenly Mr. Spurgeon said, ‘Theodore, let’s get down on our knees and thank God for laughter.’ And these two happy Christian preachers knelt in the field and thanked God for His great gift of laughter.”Illustrations Of Bible Truths

There are many gifts from God of which we, as His children, may be grateful. But one that is oftentimes overlooked is the Gift Of Laughter.

When was the last time that you thanked God for the Good Laugh that you enjoyed so heartily?

It is the Lord’s desire to see His children full of joy. Satan is the one who cannot stand to see us happy and rejoicing.

Read what was written in the devotional, entitled 365 Days, under the heading – “The Joy Of The Lord” – “Satan does not want us to be joyful. Why? Because without the joy of the Lord we are defeated in attitude and spirit. The Scripture reminds us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. It is a weapon we can use against Satan and his demonic forces…”

Read also what C.T. Studd, the renowned missionary to China, India, and Africa, said about the Laugh of Faith –

“Faith laughs at the impossible and cries, ‘It shall be done.”
“I may look a fool or mad,”laughs Faith, “but I’m not such a fool as I look. For I believe in the Great, Infallible God and His Great, Infallible Book.”

There was a couple in the Bible who were facing an insurmountable circumstance for many years. The impossibility they faced was having a child in their old age. Yet God gave Abraham and Sarah a promise that it would happen.

After waiting twenty-five long years for the fulfillment of God’s Promise to them, their Miracle finally came. Read Sarah’s reaction in Genesis 21:5-7 – “And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.”

Did you notice what she said here?

“God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.”

Take heart today! Be encouraged! Just as the Almighty did for Abraham and Sarah, He will do it for you. He will perform that which He promised. He is Forever Faithful!

If you continue to stand in Faith, believing God for the Impossible, your testimony will be like that of Sarah’s – “God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.”

Today, in the face of your Impossibilities and in the midst of your enemies, let the Lord fill your heart, soul, and mouth with Laughter. Cast off your chains of heaviness and heavy bands of depression.

Let the devil know that – “Enough is Enough!” He is not going to steal your Joy any longer!

Get your focus off of your problems and circumstances and put it back on El Shaddai – Your God Who is More Than Enough.

Enjoy your salvation and your God!

Oh! Thank God for His Great Gift Of Laughter!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

May the Lord Jesus fill you to overflowing with His laughter and joy as you walk by Faith and not by sight.

May God Bless His Word.

  1. Thank you. I also love to laugh and hear others laugh. My Grandmother used to say that “Laughter is music to God.”

I do thank God for the humor in my life and that things are seldom as bad as they seem.

Laughter is internal jogging. It allows us to laugh at ourselves and what we have done or tried to do. Remember the country song that said, “Want to hear God Laugh? Tell Him your plans.”

I have enjoyed reading your blog.

  2. “Want to hear God Laugh? Tell Him your plans.”

Laughter has helped me get through many tough times auntgrace… and still does.

It really is medicine for the soul.
