Nephilim: What to Consider

Interesting Alert sent out tonight from the Be Alert blog of Moriel Ministries –“Nephilim: What to Consider”

A few years ago a few of us got into a discussion at a board on the subject of the Nephilim, like one of those never-ending debates it went on for 12-13 pages if I recall. At the time I did a little research so ended up with a few articles written by a number of Bible teachers on the topic. At the end of this alert from Moriel I’ll include the links to a few of these for anyone interested.

quote…

Early in the morning as I drove home from work at 4am last week I turned on ‘Coast to Coast AM’ (truly a modern day Areopagus) as I usually do to see what topic they were discussing this morning. This time, as not that uncommon, the topic of Alien Abductions and the UFO phenomena and how through hypnosis, abductee mothers recount meeting their hybrid babies only to have them taken away never to see them again – was being discussed. Further speculation is given as to who, what, where, and why this other intelligence is creating this hybrid race and what are their future plans.

Anyone familiar with these sorts of stories will immediately recognize that that the many people who claim abduction by “aliens” all tend to report the same scenarios. I have stated in previous commentaries that it is this writer’s opinion as well as that of many credible conservative bible pastor/teachers and expositors that this phenomenon is demonic in nature and related to the last days warnings given by Jesus in the scriptures.

Jesus said in Luke,

“And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. “It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; – Luke 17:26-28

The literal interpretation of this for today is a world that is not just caught up in the things of the world, but a world as well as a church enamored and consumed by them. We do not just have weddings anymore, we have ‘extreme’ weddings and we watch and worship others as they marry. However, we must also consider the deeper meaning to these verses and that would be what took place with the Nephilim. The Nephilim are one of those names in the Bible that conjures up many different thoughts and feelings. This is mainly due to the fact that this is one of the most mysterious and difficult topics in all of scripture to understand, not to deny that there is also still some considerable debate in some circles as to it’s exact interpretation. My intention here in not to even enter into that conversation but rather to consider why every true believer in Christ should be so alarmed at what is transpiring.

“You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, or all the produce of the seed which you have sown and the increase of the vineyard will become defiled. “You shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together. “You shall not wear a material mixed of wool and linen together. – Deuteronomy 22:9-11

The idea taught throughout scripture is that man is not to mix together two different kinds. The implication is that mixing kinds causes defilement and corruption.

God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. – Genesis 6:12

The most common definition of Nephilim that people immediately think of is the one used in the KJV, which is “giant”. However, two other definitions of Nephilim are a noun; a race or nation and a noun; to be an apostate or fallen. This is where the idea of the Nephilim being a race of fallen ones or those who ‘could not be saved’ comes from. The interpretation of Genesis 6:4 that the Nephilim are half human, half fallen angel makes this very simple to understand. God made a way for man to be saved from his sin through grace by faith in His Son but He did not make a way for the angels that rebelled to be saved. Therefore, a mixture of the two kinds would be a corruption and the result a “fallen race”. It is interesting that Genesis tells us that “all flesh” was corrupt in the days of Noah. What does that mean? We know that God destroyed all the animals as well as all people except those brought on the ark with Noah and his family. We can only speculate but the book of Enoch (which is not scripture but a book at least historically fit enough to be) quoted in the Epistle of Jude says this:

And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another’s flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones. Enoch 7:4-6

Again, we cannot hold this account as scripture but it does help to give us a little insight as to maybe why “all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth”. Now, what is man doing in creating these hybrids whether they are human/animal or plant/animal? Man is mixing kinds together and creating a corrupt and defiled race. It does not matter what the percentage of human verses cow DNA there is, do cows go to heaven? Frankly, man is messing with things he has no idea about – he is in effect trying to play “God”, which goes right back to the original sin in the garden. This is trying to trust in the things of this world when this world is fading away, every sign is blatantly obvious; He is here, right at the door. This in and of it self is should be enough to concern us, but then we have this evil deception taking place involving alien abductions that fits right into the whole picture.

As to what is actually taking place here we can only speculate but it is clearly not of God but demonic in origin and sounds like what took place during the days of Noah.

These are things that the Lord can put up with only so long as He will not sit by idle as the gene pool of man becomes corrupted beyond a certain point – the reason God had to intervene in Noah’s day. This will happen eventually because of the sinfulness of man. Along with this is the governments desire to track DNA along with everything else, and I think this has nothing to do with terrorism but is just the plain evil spiritual influences leading to the marl of the beast.

  1. The Book of Enoch was quoted by Christ. This is enough truth that you need.

    Kyle

  2. It is interesting to consider that Enoch is mentioned in Hebrews 11and even quoted in Jude:

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.[ verses 14-15]

But not included in the new testament.

But the book itself is not included in the new testament.

  4. Hello pj.. this is sooo interesting! I am among those that believe the sons of God were angels and I am glad to have those links! thank you for presenting this subject..

    in Jesus

  5. The book Enoch we have today is likely not the same book Jesus quoted. It is highly likely a forgery or very corrupted. Treat it as such.

  6. Is it so hard to believe all mankind’s seed was corrupted by the angels? By Pharaoh all the boys died save Moses….by Herod all the boys died save Jesus…there are more examples. Noah’s family was the only family not corrupted….it was “perfect” in his generations.

  7. I am among those that believe the sons of God were angels

    me too Vicki!

    You’re welcome [about the links]…

  8. Good point Silverkz, concerning the possibility of corrupted seed…

  9. I watched these today and thought about the mixing of government and science and religion…interesting, but disturbing…and obviously a secular view of things…but very thought provoking…a piece of the great deception…

Too bad she isn’t making the Genesis 6 link…

  10. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=mike+heiser&search_type=&aq=f

There are 9 series from Mike Heiser…excellent review on the nephilim, Sons of God etc…

  11. This is another excellent series…

  12. This is a round table discussion on the book of Enoch…

  13. I hold to the angel theory. It’s interesting to me how they appear as aliens to some folks…and angels from God to other folks…ancient dieties of old to others…

It all comes down to one thing…whether the new age movement, the Todd Bentley’s of today, witchcraft, zionism, ancient astronauts etc…it’s all tied together. The evil ones tell people what they want to hear…We can save ourselves! They just tailor the story for the individual, based on that individual’s weaknesses and belief system… just enough to get them to believe it. Just enough to get the believer AWAY from the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Notice that the alien message says all religion is the same. Man can save himself if he would just change his ways. We are all children of the light! Creepy stuff.

  14. “But the book itself is not included in the new testament.”

I often think about the prophesy in the bible that is “sealed” up until the end…and I wonder how the Ethiopian Book of Enoch fits in here…

I also think about how everything needs 2 witnesses and about all the references to Enoch…and how he walked with God…and God took Him…there was something special about him…

Gen 5:18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch:

Gen 5:19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

Gen 5:21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

Gen 5:22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

Gen 5:23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

Gen 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him.

Luk 3:37 Which was [the son] of Mathusala, which was [the son] of Enoch, which was [the son] of Jared, which was [the son] of Maleleel, which was [the son] of Cainan,

Hbr 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Jud 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

Then I I think about the scripture that backs up what Enoch says…

    2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Luk 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Isa 26:14 [They are] dead, they shall not live; [they are] deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

Eze 32:27 And they shall not lie with the mighty [that are] fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.

Isa 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

Isa 13:5 They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, [even] the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.
Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD [is] at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
Isa 13:7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:
Isa 13:8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces [shall be as] flames.

Job 26:5 Dead [things] are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
Job 26:6 Hell [is] naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Isa 14:9 Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet [thee] at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, [even] all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

Isa 13:21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
Isa 13:22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in [their] pleasant palaces: and her time [is] near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify [himself] in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

Dan 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

Rev 9:11 And they had a king over them, [which is] the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue [is] Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath [his] name Apollyon.

I’m gonna list some of the scripture that relates to the fallen ones…I just gotta get em all together…

  15. Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.

Jos 10:2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon [was] a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it [was] greater than Ai, and all the men thereof [were] mighty.

Num 13:32 And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, [is] a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it [are] men of a great stature.
Num 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which come] of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight

2Sa 5:18 The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

Isa 17:5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.

1Sa 17:4 And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height [was] six cubits and a span.

1Ch 20:4 And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, [that was] of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.

1Ch 20:5 And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff [was] like a weaver’s beam.

1Ch 20:8 These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Deu 3:11 For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants; behold, his bedstead [was] a bedstead of iron; [is] it not in Rabbath of the children of Ammon? nine cubits [was] the length thereof, and four cubits the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man.

2Sa 21:16 And Ishbibenob, which [was] of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear [weighed] three hundred [shekels] of brass in weight, he being girded with a new [sword], thought to have slain David.

2Sa 21:18 And it came to pass after this, that there was again a battle with the Philistines at Gob: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Saph, which [was] of the sons of the giant.

2Sa 21:20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of [great] stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

2Sa 21:22 These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

1Ch 20:4 And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, [that was] of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.

1Ch 20:6 And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of [great] stature, whose fingers and toes [were] four and twenty, six [on each hand], and six [on each foot]: and he also was the son of the giant.

1Ch 20:8 These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Job 16:14 He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.

Gen 14:5 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim and the Zuzim in Ham and the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,

Deu 2:10 (The Emim lived there formerly, a people as great, numerous, and tall as the Anakim.

Deu 2:11 Like the Anakim, they are also regarded as Rephaim, but the Moabites call them Emim.

Anyway…just some of the versus that tell us that those hybrids Enoch gives us so much information about…are real…the Bible says so.

  16. So..over the years I have come to believe that all the great ancient monuments in the world were set up as “memorials” to the gods who came down to earth…and I think that’s what this verse may be all about…

Gen 11:9 Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of the whole earth….

And if I could sound even crazier…I think the “mythological” stories of gods with animal features and the ancient god and goddesses…were not myths at all…that’s why they were so powerful and why humans were willing to worship them. A war throughout history between YHWH and His angels and His people vs. Satan and his angels, offspring and subsequent demons and his people.

    That’s how I see it.

  17. I think this is important also…there are those who will say that it all happened back in the Garden of Eden. That Satan was the first father of the hybrid offspring. They say the mother was Eve…and therefore everyone from the line of Cain was half angel-half human. NO!

I have a few things to refute this idea:

    1. Genesis 6 specifically says this all happened when men began to multiply on the earth and daughters were born unto them

    2. 2 Peter 2:4 tells us what happened to these angels who sinned…they are locked up in chains of darkness…SATAN IS NOT WITH THEM…

    3. Genesis 4 states that Adam knew his wife and she conceived and bore Cain…(some will try to argue that Abel and Cain were twins…well if that is so, why doesn’t genesis 4 say Even bare Cain and Adam knew his wife and she conceived and bare Abel…). I believe Hitler believed the serpent seed thing…and it’s an underlying current with the secret societies.
