This document titled ‘An Evangelical Manifesto’ due out this coming week, should send up a red flag because of those involved (Rick Warren) and those not. This Manifesto should be definitely suspect.
In a story ran today at most Christian and secular news organizations, (see The Christian Post:Evangelicals Say Faith is Now too Political) Rick Warren’s name is conspicuously not included…in fact it seems from recent news releases pertaining to this document, most of the identities of those who have supposedly signed it, are being withheld. In an article I posted last month: Whose ‘Evangelical Manifesto’?, Rick Warren’s involvement was duly noted as being one who is behind the construction and publishing of this document.
So what’s the reason for being secretive? What is the real purpose behind it, and what do those who are involved in putting it together hope to accomplish? Those are questions we as Christians need to be looking at closely. While I agree with the title of the article at the Christian Post…the Gospel and faith in Christ has become too involved with politics in recent years, I find myself somewhat suspicious in believing this is what those behind this document really believe: Mainly because of Warren’s contribution. He is VERY politically involved and motivated; in fact he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, (CFR).

This is something to keep an eye on.
