Has Rick Joyner caused a split….?

When adding the title I had Todd Bentley’s name instead of Joyner’s..but you know actually, if there are deep rifts forming within this group over Todd being placed back behind the pulpit, its Rick Joyner who’s behind it all. Without him being the catalyst, which I sincerely believe was for his own purposes & for his own (MS) ministry, Todd might not be back with his ‘school of the prophetic’ or holding nightly meetings.

Anyway,  Rick Hiebert has a new (interesting) post up this evening at Bene Diction,

I don’t want to comment on King and whether she is orthodox or her stance on divorce is the best. But I do want to point out that a split seems to be happening in this wing of the charismatic movement about Todd Bentley. First, John Paul Jackson expressed his misgivings about Bentley’s divorce and remarriage and now Patricia King has made this statment. As Todd Bentley returns to public prominence, I expect that we may see more public figures in the church feeling a need to pick sides.

See, Patricia King takes Todd Bentley behind the woodshed?

  1. I read the whole link about Patricia King rebuking Todd without actually naming him. That is a good first step for her, but the Bible says to name them and rebuke them publicly.

An interesting note was how upset PK is/was that Todd had “an open vision of him and Shonnah” getting married and he described it to a friend AS IT WAS HAPPENING. He wrote all about it in his book. Of course, since PK believes all of that vision junk, she thinks it is just horrible that Todd would disobey such a “direct” word from the Lord. The author of the link said, well if Todd was wrong about the vision, maybe he’s wrong about your terminal cancer”. My thoughts are. ALL of his “visions” are/were complete BS. He is a pathological liar, and since HE knows he made the whole thing up, it’s no big deal for him to just ignore what he wrote in his book. He a total narcissistic “attention whore” , as I hear it put these days, and will do anything to stay in the limelight and get his own way in the process.

“….and since HE knows he made the whole thing up, it’s no big deal for him to just ignore what he wrote in his book….”.

It is comments like this that have a way of coming back and biting you!

I like a couple of things from Luke’s Gospel.

One, is the words said of Jesus when the seventy-two [ESV] came back rejoicing that the demons were subject to them in His Name:::>

Luk 10:20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Luk 10:21 In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.

Then further into Chapter 11 we read this:::>

Luk 11:13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

One must come to understand both the “goodness” and the “severity” of these things.

The “goodness” is indeed that the Holy Spirit is God and Eternal and we can “rejoice” in Him like we read Jesus rejoices in Him.

The “severity” is indeed that the Holy Spirit is God and Eternal and He does not sin nor change one ioda.

Someone rightly said that when we ask for the Our Father to “give” us the Holy Spirit, when He comes, one of us is going to die to self!

Might I ask two three things?

One, have you asked for the Holy Spirit?

Two, has He come to you too?

      Three, ?

Which brings me back to your profound remarks:::>

“….and since HE knows he made the whole thing up, it’s no big deal for him to just ignore what he wrote in his book….”.

There is no ignoring the Holty Spirit.

      There is no ignoring death.

There is no ignoring the eternal Judgment!

  2. “a great spiritual civil war now looms before the church. Many will do everything they can to avoid it. This is understandable, and even noble. However, compromise will never maintain a lasting peace. It will only make the ultimate conflict that much more difficult when it comes, and it will come.”
    Rick Joyner, the Final Quest.

what can this mean pj – a civil war within a civil war?
    ha ha

  3. If you go to Fresh Fire website – Healing School session 16 at 253 mins you see someone (don’t know his name) telling people that when you are receiving impartation DO NOT PRAY. Just what is being imparted there? Many people are receiving this impartation after being told quite specifically to just receive, in other words empty their minds and not to pray.

    • telling people that when you are receiving impartation DO NOT PRAY. Just what is being imparted there?

It is scary. Would the Holy Spirit direct us not to pray? Heck no!!! In fact we’re told to guard our minds.

Jan, i think people who follow this kind of direction must believe this is submitting to God but its not.

      Don’t you?

  4. The whole premise of adulating these celebrities, whether they divorce or not, is unbiblical and should not be tolerated. The damage becomes so multiplied and the peace of the people so stirred when one of these celebrities fails. Maybe allowing yourself to be made a celebrity, or creating and clamoring after and imitating these celebrities, is the root sin our generation must repent for.

The true Church has One Head and is made up of servants who empty themselvs after His example, not leaders.

Maybe the fall into these public and shameful sins is more a symptom of the lust for prominence and unbridled ambition “in the Name of the Lord” and people’s delight to have it so. (This is a point made by Art Katz backin the 90’s.) That the public sin and humiliation is the judgment for the root sin of ambition and taking the Lord’s glory for oneself.

While PK may well uphold the sanctity of marriage, unless she also renounces the whole celebrity culture and all is merchandising, she is still part of the problem and still promulgating the root evil that makes it possible, and perhaps has ambitious motives of her own for opposing another’s return to “front line ministry” (there’s a real biblical concept.)

I know that I am not to speculate on or judge the motives of others, love believing the best. But can you see how these celebrity “ministers” who merchandise the people and things spiritual, void themselves of credibility to bring correction, how their motives are suspect because of their own errors, how they have no real authority to bring a plumbline of righteousness.

As I said on a previous post about righteous judgment, only when one has nothing of himself to promote nor protect (is living a crucified life), can he bring a true judgment.

  5. Thanks for the mention 🙂

  6. Vicki, Your insight and statements on this matter, I think, are excellent.

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
