Spreading Insanity Within the Church in America

Franklin Graham said Sunday that the nation is in “big trouble” under the leadership of President Obama and that he is having an increasingly positive view of billionaire Donald Trump running for president as he hears more from him.

While Graham did not elaborate why the United States is in trouble under Obama, he did express support for Trump’s questioning of why Obama hasn’t produced his birth certificate. “I don’t know why he can’t produce that (birth certificate),” said Graham. “I don’t know, but it’s an issue that looks like he could answer pretty quickly.” Graham was one of the three prominent Christian leaders, the other being Pastor Tim Keller and the Rev. Al Sharpton, invited to discuss the topic of God and government with journalist Christiane Amanpour on Sunday.

The questions and answers were kept brief, but even Franklin Graham’s short responses managed to draw controversy. Among his most surprising comments is that Graham finds himself politically attracted to Donald Trump, the twice divorced U.S. real-estate developer. Graham described Trump as “very capable” and someone who has “proven himself.” “Donald Trump, when I first saw that he was getting in, I thought, well, this has got to be a joke. But the more you listen to him, the more you say to yourself, you know? Maybe the guy’s right,” said Graham.

When Amanpour asked if Trump might be Graham’s “candidate of choice,” the evangelical leader responded, “Sure, yes, sure.”

  1. I hate to say it, but I have turned off most mainline preachers/teachers because their true colors are showing regarding President Obama. It seems that they are not willing to accept President Obama as their brother in Christ, but, they are very willing to accept Mormons Mitt Romney and Glenn Beck, known adulterers Newt Gingrich, and Donald Trump. It seems they have so much hatred fro the President that they will accept anything, a rat or a dog, rather than accept President Obama. There are some whom I am glad they have left this life in these days, for I am sure they would also be on the hate President Obama bandwagon.

    • Hi Lacy…

I agree, many well known preachers and/or bible teachers are showing their true colors…AND their rotten fruit.

I read something the other day which proves these Christians don’t care that the bible says,

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For the same reason you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Romans 13:1-7

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 1Timothy 2: 1-3

See: Lance Wallnau: Our Government Leaders Are Hand-Picked By Satan,

    • I here I was under the impression that it was God who appoints those in authority. Silly me. I just haven’t been listening to the prophets enough.

“For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

Well that clinches it…..I have now heard it all ….. and coming from Franklin Graham???? 😦

    • Syl, we are surrounded by madness!

…this insanity appears to be spreading like wildfire. Its as though the most visible (and) vocal part of the Church has boarded the fast-train to coo-koo land.

  3. Lance Wallnau: Our Government Leaders Are Hand-Picked By Satan,

Really?? That’s not what my bible says

This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. Dan 4:17

    • Its not what my bible says either Steve. But of course neither you or i are dominionists, so that “hidden” scripture, “Satan hand-picks government leaders”, hasn’t been revealed to us yet..

By the way, thank you for adding Dan. 4:17!

  4. Franklin Graham also believes that the Muslim Brotherhood is infiltrating our government. Donald Trump has left a trail of bankrupted businesses and broken marriages and Franklin Graham frets over whether Barak Obama’s faith is genuine or not. Franklin Graham insists “For me, the definition of a Christian is whether we have given our life to Christ and are following him in faith and we have trusted him as our lord and savior. That’s the definition of a Christian. It’s not as to what church you are a member of. A membership doesn’t make you a Christian”. He never mentions the importance of fruit in his definition. The Bible, of course, states: “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” So Franklin Graham has bought into the modern evangelical teaching that fruit doesn’t really matter. And this is at the very heart of the problem wherein LACK OF DISCERNMENT is rampant in the church these days. False prophets are notorious for 1) promising great and wondrous things and 2) employing manipulation and coercion in order to get what they want. The church today is literally clambering for these kinds of people. They want EASY answers and QUICK solutions. It doesn’t matter that the prophet was a pro-choicer yesterday and a pro-lifer today. It doesn’t matter that the prophet yesterday thought that Barak Obama was a great president and today … Well, today he has decided he wants to be president so he has been reading up on how to land the Tea Party vote. The false prophet is telling people what they like to hear and they are all loving it with their ears itching away. Sound doctrine and fruit are out the door. Just tell us what we want to hear and you are in. Non-Christians in political office don’t scare me nearly as much as fake Christians.

    • George, Franklin Graham has been seriously off-track for some time.

I’ve watched a few interviews with him on CNN over the past 2 years in which he made statements that heavily damaged any credibility he may have had as a Christian voice in America. At least with me.

Amen George. There is a new article tonight at the Christian Post which shows just how desperate many Christians in America are to jump on any bandwagon,

“Clearly, he’s (Trump) gotten the attention of social conservatives,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins told The Christian Post.

Perkins said social conservatives find Trump’s willingness to speak clearly about his positions to the media “refreshing.”…

The FRC head also noted that Trump has established credibility in business that other politicians, namely Obama, lack….

In essence, Trump has addressed all of the key issues social conservatives are interested in, said Perkins. link

Next thing you know we’ll be hearing that leaders within the dominionist movement have stepped forward to support “the Donald” for President. I’m looking for my letter from Joyner to arrive any day now.

  5. What is wrong with everybody? It’s like no one has a brain any more! (Present company excluded of course!) Things just get stranger every day and it is getting to the point where I believe one day nothing will surprise us. Nothing.

    • Things are getting stranger every day. And so are people!

I’ve thought many times about spiritual conditions prior to the first time Jesus came, and during His time here. If you notice in the Gospel accounts (especially Mark’s) demon activity was not just prevalent, it was common. So much so, that no one (according to the biblical accounts) was the least bit shocked or surprised when it occurred. Ever think about that?

It’s often caused to to wonder if this same increased activity will grow and be seen (directly) prior to our Lord’s return. If so, what we are “really” witnessing, in many people today, is demonic activity. The one difference today is the lack of any discernment to recognize it as such, and the fact that belief in things spiritual, has been replaced by head knowledge.

      just a thought…

  6. Hi PJ

I noticed that same thing in I Corinthians, the influence of the pagan-goddess activity in Delphi that spread throughout the area and into the Corinth church. You know the famous verse misinterpreted to shut up the women…Paul was so convicted that they not sound like the pagans that he would rather have silence than them sound like anything unrighteous!

Compare that scenario with what we see today, and we get quite a picture. And they claim there is no demonic possession in America!

George, I had the same kind of explanation from my pastor in that we could not call people false teachers if they agreed with the main points of Christianity. I was also told that what I was seeing there was not so. (Even tho I had experience and have done enough research to recognize the buzz words!) Ugh.

They are willingly blind and too comfortable in the pulpit/pew – complacent with “once saved, always saved” and have lost a fear of God.

Tongue in cheek, my husband pointed out this morning that maybe Trump will come in and do his “you’re fired!” which could be a plus….heheh (not).

  7. So, now that the President has produced his birth certificate, thereby humiliating all who would publicly doubt his citizenship, can we at long last strike Graham, Trump and assorted fellow travelers from the lists of Those Who Must Be Taken Seriously? I think I can go the rest of my life quite enjoyably without hearing the innermost thoughts of people who actually thought a sitting PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES was somehow a Manchurian Candidate…of EVIL!

I mean, really: I had to go through a pretty extensive background check just to get a gig at a local WAREHOUSE. Surely there must be a higher threshold of inquiry for oh, you know…THE PRESIDENCY(!) than whether or not the prospects fit the suit.

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
