Good News/Bad News

First the good news,

October 5, 2011 Wasilla, Alaska

“After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States.”

Then the bad,

(But) “In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.”

From Sarah Palin, in a letter sent out to her supporters Wednesday evening.

    • Bryan Fischer of the conservative Christian group the American Family Association floated an interesting theory about why there hasn’t been a “Muslim attack” since Sept. 11 during his speech before the Values Voter Summit on Saturday.

      “By God’s blessing, we have not been hit by a Muslim attack since 9/11,” Fischer said. “I suggest that in part, we have Major League Baseball to thank.

      ahaha!🙂 That’s Christian Nationalism for you…

      Thanks for the link!

  1. Ha!

    From where I sit, I see this Palin decision framed this way elevates her to some place of unauthorized Godly authority higher than the highest civilian authority that operates within the United States. That highest of Godly authority is in fact the Presidency, the position bestowed by God, through the legal process of her general election, not the “king makers”.

    All authority is of God, as taught in the Scriptures!

    This is how Godly authority is established:

    Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
    Rom 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
    Rom 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
    Rom 13:4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
    Rom 13:5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

    For me, one should ask this question when they read something like that decision: “Who would be behind such a reality?”

    What is it, then, that drives such a thought decision as that one is but a thought decision like this one:

    Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
    Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

    The Church’s role in participation with all civilian authority is to uphold that civilian authority, making no distinction between the rule of a king, a president, a prime minister or whatever form of civil authority is being exercised by the person in authority. Where She should find Herself is under authority in prayer that She would live a quiet and peaceable life in godliness and honesty, whether the authority She is under is good towards Her or harsh. 1Ti 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
    1Ti 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
    1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
    1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

    By the way, the Church was conceived in the Heart of God well before the foundation of the world and any authority. Her authority has already been established and Her role in this life is not to “conquer” spiritual forces at work in the world, but to establish God’s manifest Wisdom in the world in spite of them! They have already been conquered!

    Remember reading this?

    Psa 115:1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.
    Psa 115:2 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
    Psa 115:3 But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
    Psa 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
    Psa 115:5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
    Psa 115:6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
    Psa 115:7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
    Psa 115:8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
    Psa 115:9 O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
    Psa 115:10 O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
    Psa 115:11 Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
    Psa 115:12 The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.
    Psa 115:13 He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.
    Psa 115:14 The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
    Psa 115:15 Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth.
    Psa 115:16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD’S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
    Psa 115:17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.
    Psa 115:18 But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.

    Col 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
    Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
    Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
    Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
    Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
    Col 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
    Col 2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
    Col 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
    Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
    Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
    Col 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

      We must be sitting in the same place Michael… i agree.🙂

      I continue to believe Palin’s public persona, rhetoric, and (still) her claim of Christianity has resulted in further disparaging of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  2. In reality we live in a world that is thoroughly corrupted by the lust for money and power. Conservatives generally try to cover their sin with puritanical works based religion while liberals tend to choose social activism works based religion. Conservatives have made a religion out of capitalism (the solution to all problems) and liberals have done the same with socialism (again, the solution to all problems). Both are IDOLS and NEITHER can do anything on its own to solve man’s problems. Our country is being destroyed by corruption from the minimum wage worker slacking off on the job to the highest paid executive padding his or her pocket at the expense of those down the ladder. NO MATTER who is in office we now have market sectors that literally dictate orders to our government as elected officials are bought and sold. The banking, defense and pharmaceutical sectors are just a few leading examples. It is more than any politician from either party can cope with. In the midst of all of this, our role is as Michael skillfully outlines above:

    “The Church’s role in participation with all civilian authority is to uphold that civilian authority, making no distinction between the rule of a king, a president, a prime minister or whatever form of civil authority is being exercised by the person in authority. Where She should find Herself is under authority in prayer that She would live a quiet and peaceable life in godliness and honesty, whether the authority She is under is good towards Her or harsh.”

    So from this vantage point, Sarah Palin is only a passing distraction. In the end, God Himself will choose our leaders as He has done through history and in the process we will reap what we have sown. All the corruption at the top of the ladder is simply a reflection of the corruption at the bottom. No one is innocent. Except of course for the Lamb of God. And He alone is our hope. He alone is the only hope for our soul, and the only hope that we will be able to continue to live “a quiet and peaceable life IN GODLINESS AND HONESTY”.

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
