Quote of the Day…

Presidential candidate Herman Cain, from his 2010 article  “The Perfect Conservative,”

Referring to Jesus:

The liberal court found Him guilty of false offenses and sentenced Him to death….Never before and not since has there ever been such a perfect conservative….For over 2,000 years the world has tried hard to erase the memory of the perfect conservative..

The attacks are disguised as political correctness, or a misunderstanding of the First Amendment to the Constitution. Separation of Church and State does not mean Separation of Church from State…. Our Founders recognized that distinction, which helped to inspire the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the founding of this nation – The United States of America! We must be the Defending Fathers and the defenders of the perfect conservative.

Funny, I’ve always had the impression the Pharisees viewed Jesus as a revolutionary. Guess I was wrong….

  1. “We must be the Defending Fathers and the defenders of the perfect conservative.”

Sounds like the Crusade-preachers talking about how christendom must rise to defend the crucified savior. Jesus said clearly He would lay down His own life and take it up again.

Liberal court of Pharisees? Perfect conservative? I wouldn’t have as much trouble voting for these men if they would just come out and say they are not Christian. Not that it’d incline me to vote anymore, but atleast they’re not attempting to prostitute the Gospel on their ignorance to ignorant peoples. I doubt the man has ever opened a Bible without looking for material to justify his position or read it through a lens.

My thoughts exactly Cal. The Pharisees were far from liberal. In fact they were the opposite. They trusted in their own righteousness & looked down upon others,

9And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

13And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. (Luke 18)

I wouldn’t have as much trouble voting for these men if they would just come out and say they are not Christian. Not that it’d incline me to vote anymore, but at least they’re not attempting to prostitute the Gospel

      Amen…

  2. I don’t remember Jesus as being politically active. That would seem to differentiate Him from both conservatives and liberals. That being the case, Herman Cain’s Jesus would seem to be a “different Jesus”. How typical of politicians of all flavors. So many of them seem to worship a “Jesus” of convenience. The real Jesus instructed His followers to obey and respect the “liberal” government of Caesar. Quite a divergence from Mr Cain’s “Jesus”.

  3. What Bible do these people read?

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
