“Wolf! Wolf!” or Fear, ‘the wind beneath my wings..’

There once was a shepherd boy who sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, “Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!” The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.

“Don’t cry ‘wolf’, shepherd boy,” said the villagers, “when there’s no wolf!”

They went grumbling back down the hill. Later, the boy sang out again, “Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!” To his delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away. When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said,

“Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don’t cry ‘wolf’ when there is NO wolf!”

But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more. Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, “Wolf! Wolf!” But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn’t come. At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn’t returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him weeping. “There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, “Wolf!” Why didn’t you come?”

An old man, putting his arm around the youth said, “Nobody believes a liar…even when he is telling the truth!” (Aesop Fables)

Rick Santorum: They are taking faith and crushing it. Why? Why? When you marginalize faith in America, when you remove the pillar of God-given rights, then what’s left is the French Revolution. What’s left is the government that gives you right, what’s left are no unalienable rights, what’s left is a government that will tell you who you are, what you’ll do and when you’ll do it. What’s left in France became the guillotine. Ladies and gentlemen, we’re a long way from that, but if we do and follow the path of President Obama and his overt hostility to faith in America, then we are headed down that road. source

Bryan Fischer:(On JC Penney hiring Ellen DeGeneres) “Research has indicated that lesbians suffer from increased levels of depression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, breast cancer and vaginal diseases compared to heterosexual women. Thus what JCPenney has done, by increasing, even if ever so slightly, the chances that young women will experiment with this behavior will turn out to be a tragic thing for some. JCPenney will have to share some culpability for that” source

I could post 100 more (recent) quotes from 100 other sources, but why bother; Crying wolf and spreading fear has become a national pastime in America.

God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

  2. The conundrum is this: The left seems to be more compassionate toward the poor, while the right is opposed to abortion. And while the left has their abrasive people, I have literally never seen such venom spewed at President Obama.

Lies, invectives, distortions, and disdain against Obama and in some cases his wife. And what is most astounding is that those who profess Christ are part of that behavior.

Politics is antithetical to all that Jesus lived and taught.

    • ..what is most astounding is that those who profess Christ are part of that behavior

Yes. If i picked one thing over the last few years, which has both shocked and grieved me the most, it wouldn’t be the rise of false prophets or even unbiblical doctrines, but the despicable ugliness shown toward our current president and his family, by “Christians”.

Politics is antithetical to all that Jesus lived and taught.

      Amen.

  3. Rick, the Kingdom of God should be about that Kingdom, that City’s(Polis’) business. We’re into Kingdom politics, not America or any other Empire. It’s not suppose to be about greed, but sacrifice, not about power, but service.

And for Santorum about the French Revolution, the guy doesn’t know history. The Jacobins were all about a god of rationality, a cult of reason. They were all deists (ie believing in unalienable rights), and unlike America, had to remake their national identity to escape monarchy (or so they thought). The Civil Religion of brotherhood, equality and liberty mirrors life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Believing in a god does not make you a better person, it is only regeneration by the Holy Spirit revealing Christ Jesus that changes a man’s heart.

  4. ‘Tis the season for amping up the debates and sound bites

    Ugh

    • It sure is Grant…

Debates can be good, even beneficial. But what we have today are not debates and/or disagreements (only) on policy but very personal attacks. Nothing is considered “over the line”. Outright lies are acceptable as well as character assassination.

Check out some of the comments made by professing Christian politicians and conservative activists at todays CPAC event, which by the way, also featured white nationalist and racist author/speaker, Peter Brimelow.

      Some comments were disgusting:

During a political discussion at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) today, Fox News pundit and conservative columnist Cal Thomas continued the ugliness. After the Heritage’s Genevieve Wood played a quote of Maddow eloquently debunking the conservative argument on contraception, Thomas said:

“I’m glad that you played the Rachel Maddow clip because I think she is the best argument in favor of her parents using contraception. I would be all for that. And all of the rest of the crowd at MSNBC, too, for that matter”

No one on the panel condemned the comment.

Cal Thomas! a self proclaiming born again Christian. I use to love Cal’s articles. What happened to him?😦

  5. Honestly, I have a difficulty reading some of these posts! Why?

Because the totality of the situation is not available.

If your opinions are based on actually being present, that is one thing. But, however, to base your opinion on articles read or t.v. commentators reports, you are not able to base your opinion on the totality of the situation.

I have first hand experience with this.

The best any one of us can do is pray and receive a “word” or opinion based in the Word of God, who, parenthetically is present everywhere at all times knowing full well all that occurred, of which you narrow opinion is based commenting on the situation in here.

Anyway, the only thing I can say and commit too is I am praying for the president and I will pray for the next president, either President Obama or the newly elected president.

Quite frankly to opine an conundrum of sides is meaningless in light of the reality of the Everpresent God who will judge the hearts of all men, including my own; and these comments I am making today!

    • Honestly, I have a difficulty reading some of these posts! Why?

Because the totality of the situation is not available.

Michael, that is why links are provided.

  6. “If your opinions are based on actually being present, that is one thing.”

That is why they televise these things so that those who are not present can see and hear.

“Because the totality of the situation is not available.”

Even those present do not have the totality of the situation. Hence, opinions.

“Anyway, the only thing I can say and commit too is I am praying for the president and I will pray for the next president, either President Obama or the newly elected president.”

Hopefully we all are. But some of us are being led of the Spirit to help believers see the hollow carnality of politics.

“Quite frankly to opine an conundrum of sides is meaningless in light of the reality of the Everpresent God”

Nobody should take earthly sides. ever.

  7. Rick,

my caution I believe is founded in real experiences, both in my local community, nationally, events I have been party too and internationally, events I have been party too.

That is why they televise these things so that those who are not present can see and hear.

I caution you and anyone not to even for a minute form any opinion based on any televise things because what you do see present and hear is so narrow in nature and scope, you operate devoid of the very big picture so as to give any sense of cogent opinion. The current four candidates vying for the Republican nomination are not known or understood by what you see, read or otherwise.

Even those present do not have the totality of the situation. Hence, opinions.

I would also caution about giving any opinions based on anything gathered by any of the mediums and normal channels to form the opinions.

We simply are not of the world. Period! We simply are frail narrow creatures at best and we need mercy daily.

Hopefully we all are. But some of us are being led of the Spirit to help believers see the hollow carnality of politics.

Well and good, Rick. Not trying to be offensive now but I take it with a grain of salt.

Nobody should take earthly sides. ever.

Exactly, my point, too! I agree!

So, for me, I am praying for President Obama, not based on any medium, but based on the firm admonition of Scripture.

I will be praying to the Lord for “His touch”, “His still small voice” when in the voting booth come election day to guide my mind just who I should vote for and what measures I should vote for or against, knowing full well just how handicapped I and every voter really is in light of God’s knowledge, Will and understanding and in light of the fact that the world system is ruled by Satan.

I don’t think it is responsible to sit it out and not vote.

I do think it is unwise to espouse an opinion about anyone in the delegation process leading up to the nomination knowing what I know because I have actually experienced the process locally, in the state, too, I am a resident in, nationally and internationally.

I have seen the inaccuracies and the half-truths that have clouded the truth about people and opinions by public officials and the media at all these levels.

Quite a pickle I find myself in!

And again, I repeat, good for you Rick that you have an ability to comprehend all that is going on to be able to render an opinion. I am a voice of caution to it, though and hopefully such a voice that does not bring about an offense in it?

    • Michael, i attempt to always check and double check news items (from a variety of sources) before posting them. After doing that i feel an obligation to offer my opinion, especially when the news item concerns totally un-Christian like behavior by “Christian” posers. These people who claim Christianity and “use” that claim for personal agendas, all the while speaking like satan in public arenas, need to be pointed out! And often.

They DO NOT represent Christ or Christianity and i want others to know it. The lost in particular.

Frankly, i’d love to have a blog which focused upon nothing but God’s word, sermons, scripture studies, etc. When i began this blog that was my intention. But after a year or less, God had other ideas.🙂

  8. PJ,

please forgive me if you feel like I am questioning you or your integrity. I am not.

I am offering some insight from where I sit.

I have seen first hand and personally what I have concluded to be distortion after distortion through reporting and opining by the handy work of the “false prophet” as talked about in the Book of the Revelation to John, the various sources of media.

Most people who report report honestly and truthfully. That is not what I am cautioning against.

What I am addressing is not an American problem. It is an international problem as well as it is a local problem.

It is the totality of the nature of the beast I am addressing.

Our very best efforts are not always good enough to convey the whole true story.

Anyway, if I have come across to aggressive addressing this issue, I apologize. If you have taken my comments as a personal affront to what you are doing, I am not and hope if my comments have been offensive to you let me know so I can take responsibility for that.

2Co 13:11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
2Co 13:12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
2Co 13:13 All the saints greet you.
2Co 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

    • if I have come across to aggressive addressing this issue, I apologize

O my, not at all Michael!! Please don’t think that. You’re one of the kindest souls i’ve met through the internet in 10 years.

I just wanted everyone to know that i do attempt to check out a news item on a number of varied sites before posting it.

Admittedly i do get ‘riled’ up at these posers. I believe they are enemies of the Cross. The damage they do in front of the lost by their false representation of Jesus and Christianity will never be totally known, this side of Heaven.

  9. “I don’t think it is responsible to sit it out and not vote.”

Then you must take a side.

  10. This fear mongering is so pervasive in american churchianity.

We got thrown out of a “church” for telling the pastor that he was fear-mongering toward the people. Planting fear and whipping up hot-blooded passionate reaction with religious overlays is abuse and manipulation of the people, and is the same spirit of the jihadists. This was the church that went reconstruction in the early 90’s, cursing people with imprecatory prayers. Now it is a hate-Obama Tea Party church. This was after the sermon on July 4 saying that the blood of American soldiers wins our freedom just like Jesus’ blood won our spiritual freedom. Bye…..!

  11. “This was after the sermon on July 4 saying that the blood of American soldiers wins our freedom just like Jesus’ blood won our spiritual freedom.”

Wow, just wow. I was delivered from politics in 2000. Welcome!
