Nut of the Day

Nut of the day, so far…after all the day’s still young.

Judge Tom Head, a county judge in Lubbock, Texas, announced on a local television station that he would personally join the resistance against a United Nations’ takeover of American sovereignty, which he says will occur if Obama is reelected:

[Obama] is going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN. Okay, what’s going to happen when that happens? I’m thinking worst case scenario here. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. We’re not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations. We’re talking Lexington-Concord take up arms and get rid of the guy.

Now what’s going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He’s going to send in U.N. troops — with the little blue beanies. I don’t want ‘em in Lubbock County. Okay. So I’m going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say ‘you’re not coming in here’. “And the sheriff, I’ve already asked him, I said ‘you gonna back me’ he said, ‘yeah, I’ll back you.’”

Head’s brand of paranoia is hardly limited to low-level county officials in Texas. Ted Cruz, the Texas GOP’s U.S. Senate candidate, published an article last January claiming that billionaire George Soros is leading a global United Nation’s conspiracy to eliminate the game of golf. 1. He’s watched too many left behind movies!

    • Some of this stuff, which, by the way can be seen in the news daily now, is so off the wall its funny!

Of course what’s not funny is irregardless of how nutty a story is, there are people who believe them.

  2. It all tracks back to national idolatry as well as a “violence is the answer” perspective. Ignorance is a deep deception.

  3. I’m more concerned about civil war if Obama is NOT re-elected

    • Steve this nation is so divided, you’re right, anything is possible.

My biggest concern is for the presidents personal safety if he is reelected. The crazies have only become more crazy over the last 4 years. The fires of hatred and division have been repeatedly and steadily stoked.

  4. PJ, we are in the midst of an election campaign. The electioneering this time around is exceptionally inflammatory. I just received a campaign piece with the vice president’s letterhead on it claiming that if the republicans elect “just four senators and a president” this time around, they will roll back all democrat party legislation passed over the last 30 years. I find it a bit odd that a democrat president has had to struggle to get legislation passed with a clear majority senate for two years while the republicans in the same situation could “do and undo” without restraint. So what I am trying to say is that there is just so much hyperbole going around that it is not surprising that some people, even some people in high places, are becoming unhinged by it all. Trust me, no matter who or which party prevails in November, we are all still going to be around two years later wondering why we were all so worked up over this whole thing. As much as I would rather not see a republican victory this time around, if it happens, I can guarantee you, it will not be the end of life as we know it in the USA. In fact, I really expect it will be more of the same. On the other hand, I do have some very real concerns about the whole sovereignty issue when it comes to the democrat agenda even though this guy is taking it to apocolyptic levels. In the heat of an election campaign, everything tends to become melodramatic, and I don’t think I have ever seen an election campaign as hot as this one.

Hyperbole and out-right lying has become a fast spreading “disease” in this country. Especially as it concerns politics.

Politicians are known for saying anything (including lying) in order to get elected. There’s nothing new about that. But it seems different today…worse. Now a politician will make a claim, and if they are proven to be wrong with INDISPUTABLE FACTS, it doesn’t matter! They’ll still continue to to make that claim in the face of it having been proven false. Its the craziest thing i’ve ever seen….

I read one instance of this the other day.

Even in the face of repeated debunkings by journalists, Romney’s presidential campaign has continued to produce new ads falsely claiming that President Barack Obama ended the requirement that people on welfare, formally known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, engage in work.

On Wednesday, the Des Moines Register confronted Romney about his false ads: “Iowans who consider you an honest man are asking why you would keep repeating something that isn’t true,” a reporter said during an interview with the Republican candidate. The Des Moines Register pointed out that fact-checkers have said that has not actually happened.

“Fact-checkers on both sides of the aisle will look in the way they think is most consistent with their own views,” Romney said

So “facts” don’t matter anymore because now they too are questionable because those presenting facts are biased! (slaps self on forehead)

      George, its just bizarre.

While i have no doubt they might try, im with you….i can’t see it happening either. We have mid-term elections for good reason, ahaha!!! Just more hyperbole.

I was thinking today of what i did 4 years ago. After reading one more article and hearing one more campaign speech in which the terms “other”, “palling around with terrorists” and “he’s not like us” was spewed, i had had enough. I called my son and asked…no, begged him, to please come pick me up immediately and take me to the Campbell county court house in order for me to remove my name as a registered Republican. I’ve never regretted that decision for one minute since then.
