Fear of a Black President

You don’t have to agree with everything the author has written, but I believe you’ll agree this article is very interesting. Least I did…

The Atlantic: Fear of a Black President

  1. Anyone who believes there is no latent racism in American culture and the church is naïve.

  2. I didn’t realize The Atlantic was getting their articles from The Onion. He lost me when he said “Obama is a conservative revolutionary,…….”

    • I actually thought it was a pretty fair article. Doesn’t mean i agreed with it 100% but it did take on a few issues which have somewhat puzzled me. One being,

“…as our first black president, he has avoided mention of race almost entirely”

Past presidents (in the last 30-40 years) have been pretty bold in taking on the issues of racism, and the problems many still have in this country with people of ‘color’. What the article supported for me personally was my belief that it has been very difficult to speak to the issues of racism, by this president. For obvious reasons. Which frankly is a shame. For as one who comes from a black father and a white mother, he had the perfect platform.

America’s not ready for a serious discussion on this topic, in my opinion. Perhaps someday when those who are under 40 today are older, and in charge of the country, the time will arrive. I pray so….

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
