Fear-Mongering Chuck Norris

Fear-mongers turn me off period, but especially when the fear-mongering comes through well known celebrities looking to influence Christians. It actually causes me to never look at the celebrity the same again: When I see them, I automatically feel disgust, even years later.

Fear of this type is not of God folks, its a tool of the enemy.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2-Timothy 1:7)

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.  Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.  Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12: 4-7

quote from transcript,

If we look to history, our great country and freedom are under attack. We’re at a tipping point and, quite possibly, our country as we know it may be lost forever if we don’t change the course in which our country is headed…..It is estimated that in the 2008 election, 30 million evangelical Christians stayed home on voting day and Obama won the election by 10 million votes. We know you love your family and your freedom as much as Gena and I do, and it is because of that we can no longer sit quietly or stand on the sidelines and watch our country go the way of socialism or something much worse….

We will preserve for our children this last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness.

  1. Lions and tigers and bears, Oh My!

  2. Your position seems quite unbiblical. Warning were plentiful in Scripture, from false doctrine to sin. Also, meterologists could not warn against hurricanes under your position. Pretty problematic – care to state another reason for your objection to Norris’ statements?

  3. I see it as just one couple’s opinion. While he mentioned God, it was not in the sense that the information was presented as prophetic.

This isn’t half as bad, IMHO, as those who put the fear-mongering on God. Just listen to any of the popular internet “Christian” radio broadcasters, like Rick Wiles, Nathan Leal, Steve Quayle, etc., and you get a sense of what is truly offensive to Christianity and Biblical authority. Its when you say you get this stuff from the Holy Spirit that the highest level of offense, both to man and God, is achieved.

    • One of many…and all with the same agenda. To strike fear into Christians. Its disgusting.😦

I’d say they’re all equally bad JD, but i understand what you mean. Those who claim to be speaking ‘for or as’ God will truly stand in judgment one day for their false words.

  4. What fearmongering are you alluding to? Darkness for a thousand years?

  5. I think you guys need a better understanding of the term Fear-mongering:

The action of deliberately arousing public fear or alarm about a particular issue: – (Oxford Dictionary)

The above video comes from Norris’s youtube account and the title, “Chuck Norris’ dire warning for America – 2012” is given to it by Norris.

Dire warning of what folks? That if all Evangelicals don’t go to the polls in November and vote against a certain candidate (which means for the other), the United States is doomed? HOGWASH is my response and should be yours if you are a follower of Christ.

Not only is this fearmongering with an agenda, the agenda is solely political! Its old-fashion manipulation.

You may choose to listen to these modern day fearmongers and believe that without your vote come November (for a specific candidate) that God will no longer continue to be in control of the future of the United States, which means we’re “doomed” to lose our freedoms, and will be consigned to “deeeep darkness”, and that’s your prerogative; but sorry guys, i can’t (and won’t) do that. The God i serve is in control regardless of who sits in the White House…always has been, always will be.

Not Chuck Norris, or any other political ‘Christian’ shill (of either party) calls the shots…the God i serve still sits on the Throne

And Scott…the scriptures i posted are not biblical? For that’s what you’re really saying.

The only thing we are told to fear is God himself. You find me scriptures where we as followers of Christ are told to fear anything or anyone else, post them, and then we’ll talk.

  6. And those that live under real life dictators in other countries must have been sentenced to a bazillion years of horrific darkness. The political hacks on both sides talk like this but if a Christian can’t sound different any wonder why many people think republican = christian. Try and make a case that stimulate the intellect of your listeners for once! “America: man’s last hope on earth” Can bible believing Christians ever square that statement with the holy scripture?

  7. Norris is afraid that the idol of America will be destroyed? We all know what he means. We attempt to hold onto our hedonist culture at all costs. Norris is like so many others – an American Christian rather than just a Christian. BTW – He is way behind the curve. America was created as a pluralistic country that allows for all sorts of religions and cults. And that is what God wants to protect?

America is the “best hope on earth”? Has he ever heard of the gospel. Never mind.

  8. BTW – Here is what we should really desire.

  9. Thank you Rick for sharing this video. We all need to be reminded where our desire needs to be and upon Whom. This truly encouraged me.

    Had to find the lyrics;

    I desire Jesus
    Precious Lamb
    Who ransomed me
    Upon the cross
    He took my sin
    By His blood
    He set me free

    I desire Jesus
    Oh His Name
    My soul esteem
    For upon
    His thorn-scarred brow
    Is the crown of victory

He is worthy of all honour
    All glory to His Name
    He alone deserves
    Our highest praise
    And forever He will reign

    I desire Jesus
    Triumphant One
    The earth awaits
    For on that day
    The earth will shine
With the glory of Your Name

You are worthy of all honour
    All glory to Your Name
    You alone deserve
    Our highest praise
    And forever You will reign

    You are all glorious
    You are all glorious
    My heart leans in
    My soul must sing
    You are all glorious

    I desire Jesus
    Precious Lamb
    Who ransomed me
    Unto You an offering
    Will my life forever be

    (Amen, We Praise You Lord!)

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
