The Face of War

The infant son of a BBC journalist was killed by an Israeli air strike on Gaza on Wednesday night.

The BBC said that Jihad Misharawi, who works for the BBC Arabic service, lost his 11-month son Omar after their house was hit by shrapnel. Misharawi’s brother was also injured.

Violence in Gaza has intensified after Israel killed the military chief of Hamas on Wednesday. Omar was one of at least 15 Palestinians killed. Three Israelis have also died from rocket attacks.

  1. The outcome is so tragic but the hatred will never go away, it is too ingrained in a culture to ever find peace now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZY8m0cm1oY&feature=endscreen

    • The issues between these two off-spring of Abraham will one day be forever settled by Jesus’ return. But sadly in the meantime, all the people will suffer.

My prayers are first for my fellow Christians within Gaza (and the surrounding areas) and within Israel. May God protect and watch over them. amen

  2. As a child during the Vietnam war I remember having similar emotions while watching on the new RCA color T.V. and the nightly news coverage of it. I also remember just how acute my emotions grew (fear full) to be as I grew up and then was sent in1969 a notice to register for the draft by the Selective Service System set up and in place back then! Then the Lord opened His Word to me in 1975 about war through these Words: [Psa 46:8 Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth.
Psa 46:9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.
Psa 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psa 46:11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah ], especially that part about making wars cease by “breaking the bow” “by shattering the spear” and by “burning the chariots with fire.

Today you can see Israel doing that by ground troops and by that iron dome defense system shooting out of the sky incoming missiles being shot into populated areas of their country.

War is brutal. And that’s a fact of being alive in this life. It was brutal then when that Psalm was written and it is equally brutal now!

Here’s the real answer to war: [Rom 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Rev 20:10 and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
Rev 20:14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Rev 20:15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. ].

    • Hi Michael. Yes i agree, that photo also took me back to watching evening tv broadcasts during the Vietnam war. The raw face’s of war are the same…and always will be as long as war exists. You’d think by now we’d be used to these kind of ‘naked’ photos, but perhaps its good that we’re not. To grow use to seeing the results of war would mean our conscience would have become dulled. I don’t want that to ever happen to me…

Amen Michael, concerning the scriptures you shared, amen!! Jesus is the only answer and one day brother, when he returns to rule this earth there will no longer be any war!

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
