Religious Right Threatens: Waver On Traditional Marriage And We Form Third Party

Oh goody. Just as long as the founders of this third party do not claim: (1)– It is “the” Christian party, and (2)– it represents (a) “the” Church or (b) America’s Christians.

quote,

Thirteen of America’s top religious right social conservatives this week sent Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Reince Priebus an official letter warning if the GOP moderates on same-sex marriage or refuse to actively defend “traditional marriage,” they will take all their followers and form a third party. The RNC is holding their quarterly meeting in Los Angeles this week.

Leaders from the American Family Association, Family Research Council, Eagle Forum, and the Traditional Values Coalition, among others, signed the warning.

NBC reports: The signatories to this week’s letter were:

Gary Bauer, President, American Values

Paul Caprio, Director, Family-Pac Federal

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President, Susan B. Anthony List

Dr. James Dobson, President and Founder, Family Talk Action

Andrea Lafferty, President, Traditional Values Coalition

Tom Minnery, Executive Director, CitizenLink

William J. Murray, Chairman, Religious Freedom Coalition

Tony Perkins, President, Family Research Council

Sandy Rios, VP of Government Affairs, Family-Pac Federal

Austin Ruse, President, Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute

Phyllis Schlafly, President, Eagle Forum

Rev. Louis P. Sheldon, Founder, Traditional Values Coalition

Tim Wildmon, President, American Family Association

I think they should go for it. After all, reading through the list and visiting their websites, it’s evident all these people have been political spokespersons and activists for years. They may as well make it official and form their own personal party. Oops! I forgot…they kind of DID that already. It was called the Republican party of the last 30 years.

  1. They’re not letting any grass grow under their feet either…

In an email sent out earlier this week, the Family Research Council urged activists not to make any donations to the Republican National Committee until it “grows a backbone” and starts defending the Religious Right’s agenda with more vigor:

“Until the RNC and the other national Republican organizations grow a backbone and start defending core principles, don’t give them a dime of your hard-earned money. If you want to invest in the political process, and I encourage you to do so, give directly to candidates who reflect your values and organizations you trust–like FRC Action. At least then you can relax, knowing that your money will be spent advancing faith, family, and freedom!”

That sound you hear is Perkins and his Family Research Council, among other names and orginizations on the list, hitting the old “Cha-Ching!” key folks..

  2. The gay community now leverages the agenda for the church, the culture, politics, and according to Hagee the economy. Perhaps the gospel will one day be pulled out of moth balls.

    • Yep, you’re right Rick. There has developed a singular obsession within our culture, politics, AND within the Church in America, with generally speaking, sex: the “who, what, where, and how”.

  3. CHA-CHING LOL PJ!
How much MONIES does it take to transform a heart? Does not the “religious right” not understand that a bad tree (unregenerate) will produce fruit of their own works and a good tree (one who is born again from out of God) will produce good fruit from out of the Lord? Galatians 5:22-23.
What about the assemblies of believers that are in need, but we have the religious right spending all their time trying to change people’s hearts through the political earthly system of the world. OH MY….POLITICS and MONIES and EARTH DWELLERS OH MY.

    • Does not the “religious right” not understand that a bad tree (unregenerate) will produce fruit of their own works and a good tree (one who is born again from out of God) will produce good fruit from out of the Lord? Galatians 5:22-23.

Kelli i’ve asked the same question.

Either they don’t know (which tells us they’ve never been born again themselves) or they just don’t care one iota about seeing lost souls come to Christ.

And as far as believers in need…heck, i don’t believe that would even cross their mind, because to them, we represent nothing more then a block of potential voters and an endless supply of $$.

By the way, i read yesterday that if this third party becomes a reality, it has already been decided that Perkins will head up their ticket for president.

  4. PJ:
Either they don’t know (which tells us they’ve never been born again themselves) or they just don’t care one iota about seeing lost souls come to Christ.

    kelli:
There are MANY who are using the Lord’s Name and claiming to do wonderful works but it is NOT by the Lord. The church that God is building is small and it is NOT the MANY but the few who are on the narrow path.
Jesus told the Pharisees they converts twice the sons of Hell.
    1. By a false doctrine (teaching) of works
    2. Prevented people from going to and receiving the true gospel.

Trusting in the Lord and He is building His church and MANY are NOT wanting the Truth. My desire is in line with the Lord and not wanting anyone to perish but the Lord knows the hearts of people. Only eight people were saved in the days of Noah and and during those days there were mockers just as there are mockers in these days.
God saved only 8 people in the days of Noah and there are only a few in our days on the narrow path. Is it because the true church has not fasted or prayed enough that others are on the broad road? What is the response to the truth of the MANY?
Matthew 7:22-23 MANY will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat: Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that find it.

PJ:And as far as believers in need…heck, i don’t believe that would even cross their mind, because to them, we represent nothing more then a block of potential voters and an endless supply of $$.

    kelli:
    John 13:35
By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Acts 2:44-47 And all that believed were together, and had all things in common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all [men], as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

  5. Jerry Boykin is Executive Vice-President of Family Research Council, he is close to Rick Joyner who has close links with Todd Bentley who is cranking up a “revival”. could a revival be politically motivated, surely not…

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
