Insurrectionist Rick Joyner asks God for ‘military takeover’ of Obama’s presidency

Sedition; (1) Conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of a state – (2) Insurrection – rebellion.

A Christian TV host this week called on God to consider a “military takeover” of President Barack Obama’s government because it could be the only way to save the country from tyranny.

On his Monday Internet broadcast, Morning Star TV’s Rick Joyner predicted that democracy was “doomed” unless the Lord imposed martial law.

“The balance of powers in the legislative and judicial branches were supposed to balance and keep in check, hold in check, the potential tyranny from the executive branch overstepping their bounds,” Joyner explained. “The people are not always right, it depends on what people they are. And another thing the founders warned about is this thing will only work for a moral and a religious people. You remove morality, you remove the religious influence, and it cannot work.”

“We’re headed for serious tyranny, a terrible tyranny right now,” he continued. “But guess what? The kingdom is coming, the Kingdom of God is coming. And America is not the Kingdom of God. I think we have been used in some wonderful and powerful ways by God, we’ve been one of the most generous nations in history. We’ve done so much good.”

“That’s why I appeal to the Lord: Don’t let us be totally destroyed, please raise up those who will save us. And as I’ve been telling friends for a long time, no election is going to get the right person in there because the system is so broken.”

Joyner added that the “only hope is a military takeover, martial law.”

“And that the most crucial element of that is who to the martial [sic] is going to be,” he said. “I believe there are noble leaders in our military that love the republic and love everything we stand for. And they could seize the government.”

Loved the line:  “The people are not always right, it depends on what people they are” (insert eye-rolling emoticon)

Me thinks Joyner is speaking by the spirit of satan. I seem to recall that old rebellious dude also calling for an insurrection…

  1. he says no election can bring in the right person to save us. Don’t worry the “right person” is on his way and men like Joyner might follow him.

  2. Nuts like Joyner are so arrogant and prideful that they believe God slipped up by allowing Obama to be elected. They then appoint themselves, wallowing in their human wisdom, to be the architects and engineers of their brilliant plans to set the ship of state back on course after God mistakenly steered the nation off onto a seemingly perilous trajectory.

The pomposity of these false Christians will be answered by a great judgment on their heads.

    ROMANS 13:1-7
1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct , but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval. 4 …for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.

    Blessings,

  3. A correction, if I may. The video clip from Right Wing Watch has only half of the sentence quoted at the end of their clip. The full quote can only be found at Joyners website: http://www.morningstartv.com/prophetic-perspective-current-events/has-democracy-failed

It’s at the 7 minute 48 second mark.

“I believe our only hope is a military takeover; martial law [end of RWW clip] and that the crucial, most crucial element of that is who the martial is going to be. I believe there are noble leaders in our military that love the republic and they love everything we stand for. And they could seize the government.”

    • As if that additional context makes a significant difference in what he said. If anything it only makes it worse. These are the same characters that are always worshiping the Constitution, the very Constitution that declares the president to be the Commander in Chief and outlines an impeachment process in case he needs to be removed. But while they beat everybody else over the head with the Constitution, they themselves refuse to submit to it. Of course Right Wing Watch is plenty biased and would like to put performances like this in the worst possible light, but people like Joyner make it so easy for them. No matter how they edit or don’t edit the clip, the message stays the same. “Seize the government.” And that is the very definition of advocating insurrection, which not many years back would have likely merited a death penalty or at least a very long prison term. Imagine the outcry from folks like Joyner if such a statement had been made by a liberal during the Bush administration. AND they would have been justified in making that outcry. But Joyner is obviously not playing with a full deck. Not all that long ago, someone like him would simply have been institutionalized. How things have changed, and not necessarily for the better.

    • The print story by RWW included the full quote and to me that’s the scariest part. Joyners idea of “noble leaders in our military” are those who share his dominionist goals. Hitler was originally embraced by German Christians because he stood for all the morally correct things they wanted.

  4. For guys like this, functionally America is their Christ. They live upon myth and breathe out fables of some golden past and glorious future.

And they are blind even to common sense! How many military take overs resulted in a restored institution? I think he’s watched Gladiator too many times.

  5. Isn’t it amazing that people…especially Christians who should know better (as was pointed out above, nothing slips by God) are still bellyaching over these last 2 elections?! My goodness folks, its over–the world has moved on, isn’t it high time you do the same? The truth is, they cannot. And that more then anything shows me there is a deep, dangerous, spiritual aspect to this. They are spiritually obsessed! Some in the media refer to it as someone suffering from “Obama Derangement Syndrome”.

    From Urban Dictionary:

Obama Derangement Syndrome: (1) The acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the statements — nay — the very existence of Barack Obama. (2) The state of paranoia in which people fear President Obama so much, they stop thinking logically and stop using common sense. Usually a direct result of watching too much Fox News. (3) When a person stops disagreeing with Obama on political policy and believe every single policy decision that he make is apart sinister conspiracy to weaken or destroy America and possibly the world.

Some of that may sound humorous, but it’s actually pretty factual.

In my 66 yrs of living (over half of those years as a voter) there have been presidents i wasn’t “wild about” personally, but i can’t recall ever wanting to lead a military coup in order to remove them from office.

Joyner is nuts, period. Wouldn’t you like to know who the people are whom he believes are the “right” sort? I can almost guarantee they’d be fellow dominionists.

  6. Rick Joyner has a good following there in North Carolina. He has the right to pray for whatever he desires. As we all live thru the coming days ahead, we will come to know the truth fully about this Administration and it’s agenda. Talk about Wolves in Sheep clothing. For a Christian Believer, we are in God’s economy, God’s government. Mere men can never be above God! The Word of God is playing out on the worlds stage. It is all coming to fruition.

    • Hi Brenda, of course we can pray as we wish, but shouldn’t our prayers try to lineup with God’s Word?

      Where in God’s Word are we told to lead an insurrection against our government? Is this even hinted at in the Word? No, it’s not. God’s Word does tell us this;

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. – Romans 13: 1-7

Those are strong words Brenda, and a warning.

I’d dare to say millions prayed prior to both recent presidential elections. Both honest, true, followers of Christ AND those who claim to be followers but their fruit say other-wise. Wise Christians (in my humble opinion) ended their prayers with “nevertheless, thy will be done”. And sister, like it or not, God’s will was done. It’s time followers of Christ accepted God’s answer–wouldn’t you agree?

Joyner, along with others like him, are REFUSING to accept God’s final word on the subject. Why, because they wrongly believe “they know best”…that God must have made a mistake! That’s hilarious! ahaha…

What Joyner and others who side with this insurrection-talk are really doing are fighting AGAINST GOD and inviting God’s judgment upon themselves:

Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. (verse 2)

      Read verse (1) again Brenda,

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established

If you believe it means what it says then pray for our president, for God Himself has placed him (Obama) in office.

Rick Joyner has a good following there in North Carolina.

Doesn’t mean a thing sister–many false teachers and prophets have large followings. As far as large followings go take a good look at the billions who follow satan.

    • Just to add to what you already said PJ. It’s pretty clear who gives who authority and to rebel against authority is to rebel against the Lord. I do think there is limited predetermination and that government leaders fall into that.

Daniel 4:35 All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?”

Daniel 2:21 He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.

John 19:11 Jesus answered [speaking to Pilate], “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above.”

Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.

1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

    • Amen Steve. And thanks for adding to the topic with the scriptures you quoted!

  7. They have no real faith in God, and so they do not believe that God is in control. If God is in control, certainly Obama’s election was His will, whether for good or ill, for trying times, or to expose the hypocrites, whatever it is, God does what He pleases in the heavens and the Earth.

  8. Got into this to late; the video has been taken down!

But needless to say, if it sounds and looks and walks and flies like something else, not like Christ, then no matter how subtle he is like Christ or comes across as His spokesman it still is not like Christ.

For me the longer I go forward in His Spirit the worse I am to myself with regard to Him making me more and more fearful trembling at His Word!

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 7:21 ESV)

His Will, His purpose and what is happening on earth as it is in Heaven accordingly is becoming more and more important to me even at the expense of myself which needless to say should be less and less important to me instead of more and more important to me.

Rick Joyner just makes me sick to my stomach as I, more and more, come to know what he thinks about what’s the truth and not about Christ.😦

    • Joyner must not have appreciated all the attention the video was receiving. Aha! I’ll see if i can locate it somewhere else.

OK, found another copy (think this one is shorter) at youtube and edited the post in order to include it.

Watch it fast Michael, it may get taken down soon as well.

  9. The chief reason why Obama was “Installed” so that the Prophecy may be fulfilled to the Abomination of desolation mentioned in Daniel , quoted by Jesus Christ

  10. How believers can buy into this tripe is just totally beyond me. It’s downright demonic. From it’s very foundation the church has taught the prime importance of obedience to authority as clearly taught by scripture. Down through the ages the church has struggled with how to deal with clearly evil regimes, Stalin, Hitler, etc. precisely because the Bible is so clear on the issue of obedience to authority. There ARE rare cases where this principle does not apply, but one can enter this realm only with fear and trembling as when David cut off the hem of Saul’s garment. And, of course the Bible itself is clear on the subject with the passages quoted above by pj being just a few examples of many. ALSO EXTREMELY CLEAR is what one DOES NOT find in the scripture. The Roman government of Jesus day was one of the most corrupt and brutal regimes in the history of the world. And one finds in the Bible not ONE EXAMPLE of violence against that government or even “non-violent” civil disobedience perpetrated by Christians. Of course one could point to the cutting off of the ear in the garden, but Jesus clearly rebuked that little escapade and even restored the ear!. As I have said many times, those “Christians” today who promote these concepts of insurrection follow NOT in the footsteps of Jesus, but in the footsteps of the non-believing Jews of Jesus day who were looking for a messiah who would lead them in the insurrection they so ravenously craved to overthrow the yoke of the Romans and leave them free to establish the religious theocracy of their dreams. Nothing has changed. The moralist Pharisees remain among us today and claim to be our brothers and sisters. THESE are the wolves in sheep’s clothes that the scriptures warn us about repeatedly. And they are just as dangerous today as they were in Jesus day.

    • The Roman government of Jesus day was one of the most corrupt and brutal regimes in the history of the world. And one finds in the Bible not ONE EXAMPLE of violence against that government or even “non-violent” civil disobedience perpetrated by Christians.Of course one could point to the cutting off of the ear in the garden, but Jesus clearly rebuked that little escapade and even restored the ear!.

AMEN GEORGE! I cannot understand how these Christians fail to understand that historical fact!

    • That’s right George. Great post

  11. Ok so I’d like to know upon what basis of scripture he posits that as the Will of God, martial law?

Can someone, anyone, cite where Jesus, the historical Prophets, the Apostles or anywhere in the book of the Revelation opens the door for martial law?

  12. Joyner obviously believes that God can make mistakes. This is the danger of Domininism. They believe that they are gods here on earth and what they want is what God wants. It’s classic circular reasoning by illogical, power-mad people.

    • …and what they want is what God wants.

True Louise. I always believed we were to want what God wants, not the other way around. It’s as though they wrongly think God “must” obey their wishes as stated through prayer. They have no conception of “nevertheless they will be done”.

  13. Holly at Spirit of Error has an article concerning this topic,

Prophet Rick Joyner predicts a ‘military takeover’

I noticed she also believes Rick’s idea of “who” should lead this are his fellow dominionists,

He suggested that martial law could be imposed by “noble leaders in our military.” Yet I believe he had some very specific military leaders in mind–NAR apostles.

    Why do I believe that?

Take a look at a book he wrote, titled The Harvest–which, not so coincidentally, is advertised during the same show in which he predicted a coup. In this book, Joyner prophesies a collapse of governments across the world. He also teaches that–in order for a great end-time “harvest” or revival to occur–the church must first submit to the extraordinary authority of apostles.

Furthermore, another NAR leader who is promoted by Joyner, Dutch Sheets, boasted at a 2008 NAR conference that there are apostles positioned in all sectors of U.S. society–including the military–waiting in the wings to unleash “a great awakening” and “transformation” in America. Sheets’ boast is based on an NAR teaching that God has appointed apostles to govern not just in the churches, but also “workplace apostles” or “marketplace apostles” to govern in the seven major societal institutions, including the media, education, business, the family, arts, and government.

So–in light of these NAR views–it seems obvious that the martial law Joyner speaks of would be imposed by the so-called “workplace apostles” God has appointed to govern in the military.

  14. Is there any difference between Joyner (and other Dominionists) and Muslim extremists other than the fact the Dominionists haven’t struck yet?

It’s good for Christians to speak out against these guys and reveal them, something “moderate” Muslims should have done.
