How God Used Barak Obama to Expose the Church

I was aware Rick was working on this post (through a comment he made at Facebook) and was anticipating reading it. I believe Rick has hit the proverbial nail squarely on the head. On a personal level it also confirms what I have also believed God’s Spirit has shown me over the past 6 years: God has indeed used the election of our current President to reveal the hidden, poisonous infection which has been long festering within a large part of the Church in America.

HOW GOD USED BARAK OBAMA TO EXPOSE THE CHURCH

When you see some discoloring under your skin and you take a pin, punch a hole, and apply pressure you may see infection coming out. Yes, it is not a pleasant sight. But usually you wash it out completely and put some antiseptic on the wound. You do not just ignore it and you surely do not embrace that infection and call it good.

And when caustic rhetoric and moral hubris and a complete lack of humility comes forth from the church we must not embrace it. In fact, we must clean it out and apply the conviction of God’s spirit upon the wound as well as the healing and forgiving power of Christ’s blood. But this situation has been building for decades and the infection within the church has only strengthened. And when a man named Barak Obama was elected President it punched a hole in the church and all this infection came rushing out. Barak Obama did not cause the infection, but his election was used by God to apply pressure to the church in order to expose what was living inside.

And in a day when the Scriptures are reprinted by the millions and given for free online and on CDs, the church has turned her back of Christ in order to feed in the trough of this carnal world. Taking up arms against lost sinners and championing causes which by implication suggest we are holy and righteous by our own means, the church has played the harlot. Turning our allegiance over to an earthly and fallen nation we have abrogated our duty and honor and obedience to our Great Redeemer. Can you not see just how deep our transgression has become?

We have become moral arbitrators rather than living ambassadors of the everlasting gospel. Our pride stinks before heaven as we parade our political phylacteries and carry moral banners by joining hands with those who know not Christ. This is surely the last gasp as we rush toward the event which will bring eternal justice to this fallen race. And instead of prayer meeting to beg for the souls of lost sinners we watch and listen to vicious talk show hosts who are becoming millionaires by speaking self serving nonsense. And this is what Christ died for? I dare say that is blasphemy!

But as this infection began to ooze out of the ecclesiastical community along with it appeared an extraordinary phenomenon. Instead of repentance we saw arrogance. And instead of shame we witnessed self righteousness. And much if not most of the evangelical atmosphere was filled with an air of politics, patriotism, and a spiritually offensive suggestion that we somehow were righteous due to our moral belief system. The strength of this clique became very strong and the qualification for membership had nothing to do with Jesus and the gospel. And in the very crosshairs of this movement was Barak Obama and his liberal armada.

  1. This is an excellent article, and something I’ve been thinking about myself for awhile now. That’s why I cheer for every Democratic victory. Not because I am partial to them (actually I’ve been too busy with school to even form an educated opinion about anything lately), but because it’s a slap in the face to these people who, in the name of God, cast God off and embrace the religion of this world that thinks that we get to heaven by our works. In their case specifically, they think that if you love America, love conservatism, and believe in a generic God over this country, then you’re OK, even though those same people may be Mormons or others who are utterly lost.

  2. Here’s something not covered in the mainstream and extra stream news programs. I read this morning that The current President gets up around 5 a.m. and interacts every morning via his blackberry with a pastor and has been doing this before he was a US Senator. Yes the pastor sends him a message and scriptures for that day everyday and this activity has been going even after being sworn in as President. He also has a number of pastors come and pray for him and with him on his birthdays.

I was invited to have dinner with President Obama when he was in San Francisco awhile back. I declined but sent an email response quoting from Psalm 46. The next evening the new played some of his speeches he gave that day and to my surprise he quoted the verses I’d sent him the day before. The email addressed some things about his Christianity when in Chicago and after receiving the full context of some sermons he was present to hear that were viciously taken out of context to persuade people to think evil of the President.

With all the doubts that are and have been raised about him and his faith routinely, that personal experience and what I read this morning from that pastor, who has been sending verses every morning to him with words of encouragement for years and saying he has noticed the President is more resolute that his life and the presidency is in the hands of God, I’m of the opinion God has anointed him and is guiding him as a man, as a father and husband and as the President.

True believers have a clear and uncompromising mandate from scripture to pray for all men and especially for rulers in authority that we might live a quiet and peaceful life in godliness.

The question then must be asked “how can sweet water and bitter come out of the same fount”?

Yes, i read that in 08 Michael, along with who the pastor was but can’t recall the name now…would you happen to know?

I ask that about myself on certain days.🙂 On those days i find myself doing a lot of repenting.

  3. Hiya J! How are you doing? :O)

Kinda given this one a lot of thought too, the many aspects OF it. Have wondered who is objecting to what they see going on in this country right now?

The people who identify as Christian who look about ready to pick up pitchforks and torches are the ones that interest me. The rest are obvious and easy to figure out. Find scorn and hatred and you can work backward from there to figure out what their condition is and what it is that they are guarding or hiding.

No one hears truth spoken in purity and love because it’s just not as strident and LOUD as angry self-righteous indignation. So what is at the root of the angry self-righteous indignation? I think it is a love of this world. Carnality which breeds fear. Clinging to this life; clinging to this country; angry at those who appear to threaten it; hostility toward those who are threatening their WAY of life; an unwillingness to surrender TOTALLY to His will; and a total lack of interest in trading this life for the one to come.

Now that last one is unfortunate. People CAN run out of time to surrender to God and to look forward to HIM.
We’ve got the kingdom of the antichrist being built right under our noses in a really obvious and arrogant manner, but they don’t see that. Democrats and Republicans alike have been co-opted to help build that kingdom…but they won’t see it. Maybe that is the price they have to pay. They choose to see the enemy a bit more locally. It’s the other political party; it’s immigrants; it’s sinners; it’s Christians; it’s atheists; it’s yadda, yadda, yadda.
It’s likely we are not far from a very fatal war right on our own home turf, but it seems like there is just a lot of blather and fiddling while Rome burns going on. We’re running out of time for people to stop this nonsense and listen to Jesus. All that comes to mind are the words “Jesus wept”

    • Hey girl!!! I’m so happy to hear from you M…hope you and your family are doing well? I hear from Helen often…usually through facebook.

Amen amen. Marie, i can’t tell you how shocked i’ve been to read some of the things posted by Christians, over the last 6 years. Remember how we use to feel about Charlie…when some at that board would talk to him in such a demeaning way and make fun of him? They had to real answers for him so it made them fear–fear because it forced them to look at (and question) their own theology.

The last 6 years have affected me–for along time i’d just sit here, read all the ugliness and naked hatred and cry..then i found myself becoming disgusted and angry. By now, its only left me sad and numb.

What Rick posted in the above message was a confirmation for me.

Thank you so much for your ‘needed’ comment…time is running out sister, it sure is. Its time for us all to submit to God’s ‘scrub brush’ and repent while we still can.

  4. Awww, you tell Helen I said hello and give her a hug for me when you see her, okay?

Yes I certainly do recall how awful people were to that poor old man. Someday there might be a reckoning on that – you know Jesus what Jesus had to say about “servant smiters”. It’s a very serious offense. Doomworthy.

Everyone here is doing great! I think about you so often – it’s even kinda funny how frequently a topic of conversation will come up here – maybe some bible passage that is being studied by friends or something – and I’ll be all, like, “J and I studied this independently and together, and we both finally came to such-and-such conclusion”

It seems you and I covered a lot of ground! 😄
When someone says “Oh no, I don’t think the bible says that”, if it is something you and I studied? I can confidently say “Yeah, check it yourself, but it DOES say what I’m sayin’ it says and it means what I’m sayin’ it means!”
    Batting 1,000 so far 😄
Hey, while I’m thinking on it (your post back reminded me of it for some reason), do you ever read a blog…oh dear I am forgetting the name – wings of prophecy? Been meaning to go take a look-see there. Haven’t checked in a while. Always seems to be so relevant to what I’m hearing from the Lord. Like something will be on my mind from Him, and I’ll land on her page through some random-seeming link, and blammo – there it is. Same exact thing.

    • I’ll be sure to pass on the hug to Helen!

amen. I’ve thought often about Charlie. He was getting ‘up there’ in age M (think he was in his 80’s back then!) and may be with the Lord now. He’s one person i really do look forward to meeting one day. Over the years i’ve come to see that many of his points which he was derided for making were true. What always has stuck with me was how polite he was to even those who tried to shame him or poke fun at his thoughts.

Aha! yes we sure did cover a lot of ground–on line and over the phone–coast-to-coast.🙂 I still go back over to the old board once in awhile to read some of the wonderful discussions we all had on a range of doctrinal topics–and still learn (today) from them.

      wings of prophecy?

No, i don’t think i know about it…if you find the link or if it goes by a different name, let me know, ok? I’d be interested to check it out!

My email address is still the same–don’t lose it!!!!!!! ahahaha!!Don’t want to ever lose touch with you M…

      love you Marie…

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
