Rantings from “Coach” Dave Daubenmire

Coach Dave Daubenmire, self proclaimed Christian and regular contributor to News With Views, had a few interesting things to recently.

Daubenmire: Not Allowing Christians To Bully Gays Is A Form Of Bullying Against Christians

“Coach” Dave Daubenmire is back with another rant, this time against bullying; not against the act of bullying, mind you, which he says is just a fact a life and actually serves the purpose of making its victims tougher.

No, what Daubenmire is upset about it efforts to prevent bullying from taking place is rooted in efforts “to get people not to criticize or make fun of or poke fun at homosexuals.”  And when Christians can no longer say “something that their conscience tells them to say,” Daubenmire fumes, “then we see that majority begin to bully the minority” so now “we’re beginning to see Christians, and Christian idea, and Christian values become the most bullied things in all of this nation.” (with video)

The next one is a two-for-oner,

Daubenmire Defends Westboro Baptist Church Because ‘What If God Really Told Fred Phelps To Do That?

Even the most militant anti-gay activists tend to distance themselves from the Phelps cult and decry their protests as vile and unchristian … but not “Coach” Dave Daubenmire who today defended Westboro on the grounds that Christians have no right to judge the way in which this church carries out its mission.

Defending both Koran-burner Terry Jones and Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church, Daubenmire said that while he personally might not do things the same way, he is in no position to criticize them because “what if God really told Fred Phelps to do that?” (with video)

And…

Daubenmire: Fred Phelps Is Part Of The Body Of Christ

For the second time, “Coach” Dave Daubenmire has posted a commentary in which he defends Fred Phelps and his infamous “God Hates Fags” Westboro Baptist Church, saying they too are part of the body of Christ.

Working off a passage in 1 Corinthians 12 (which he wrongly attributes to Jesus but was actually written by Paul)  that says “just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ,” Daubenmire wonders why Christians are so quick to judge people like Phelps or Quran-burner Terry Jones.

They may be “an ugly part of the body that we don’t really want to see,” Jones says, but they are a part of the Body of Christ nonetheless. (Again, with video)

Don’t know if I ever mentioned this before, but a few years back I actually wrote Dave Daubenmire concerning one of his columns at News With Views. So much time has passed that it’s impossible now to actually recall what the subject of his column was about, but I can recall it painted an ugly “picture” of biblical Christianity. I do know that in expressing my concern, in the short note I sent him, I referred to him as a brother in Christ and reminded him that not all who read his columns are Christians, asking, if he took that into consideration when writing that particular column. His responding email  was one of the nastiest, mean-spirited  letters I’ve ever received…one in which he bluntly told me I was “un-American”, not a true “Patriot”, and was a wolf posing in sheeps clothing. Needless to say, I didn’t respond back. But this guy is “one weird dude” folks.

Anyway, thought someone else might find his latest rantings interesting, mainly because Daubenmire’s views are read by thousands of people through his columns AND because his views are held by many other self-proclaiming Christians in this “Christian” Nation. He is only one of many who are members of what has become known as the Christian Patriot Movement, or as I call it, The Distorted Church.

  1. Well I guess Proverbs isn’t one of his favorite books in the Bible then?:

Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent. (Proverbs 17:27, 28 ESV)

  2. Daubenmire believes that bullying is good. Daubenmire believes that not allowing Christians to bully gays is a form of bullying against Christians. Daubenmire believes that is … bad? So bullying is a “good” thing ONLY when it is being perpetrated by “Christians”. That really does confirm the verse Michael cited above. And it also makes it clear that Daubenmire subscribes to Dominionism which teaches that “Christians” are to create some sort of modern day “Holy Roman Empire” and subject all the “infidels” to the torture they so richly deserve. And just like in times past, it would be the real Christians who would end up the martyrs in such a setting. May the Lord deliver us from these Antichrists!

  3. I only wish i’d saved my letter to him along with his response. I did keep it for quite awhile…why, i don’t know. But finally deleted both one day. I would have shared it with you all. It was a doozy. His response was totally bizarre.
