Quote…

Two hours into the new year and I’ve already located what may be the ‘quote of the year’…

In a ridiculous article at The Christian Post, ‘Left Behind’ Fans Question Nicolas Cage’s Faith, Wonder About Actual Rapture Before Film’s Release, in which we read of the producer and writer of this fictional film being badgered during a recent Q &A session concerning Nicolas Cage’s faith, we have this gem from one of the ‘Left Behind’ crowd,

Another apparent concern among some of those anticipating the 2014 release of the film was whether the actual rapture, the spiriting of Christians from Earth before the world’s cataclysmic end (read about the theories here), might occur before the film hits theaters.

“If we get raptured before this is released, well, I’d be ecstatic, but I’d be really upset for not getting to see this movie!!!!!!!!”

I’ll say no more….

  1. I’ve seen this type of thinking in many proponents of the imminent rapture theory. They all claim they can’t wait to be raptured but at the same time there is usually some earthly pursuit that they don’t want to miss.

    • Yes, i have too. It’s always made me wonder if they really believe in the theory of an imminent rapture. Though i’ve never gotten into the topic here at the blog, i’ll say now that i believe the scriptures don’t support this view, but instead, points to certain things occurring prior to our being caught up. 2 Thess. 2 for instance;

      “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition”

  2. If ever there was a verse that captured the essence of that quote, PJ, I’d say this is it:

    Proverbs 17:24 The discerning sets his face toward wisdom, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth.

    • Amen Michael. I was trying to think of an appropriate verse for this at first reading it, but failed. Think i was too dumbfounded at the time by the statement itself!

Music from Broken Chords

Down in the human heart, crush'd by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. From the Hymn "Rescue the Perishing" by Fanny J. Crosby
