Who Is A True Israelite?

securedownloadAny understanding of Israel apart from the Messiah Jesus Christ is flawed. Only by possessing the faith of Abraham and being transformed into a new creation in Christ–that is, becoming one with Christ–can a person be considered a member of Israel.

Regardless of racial or ethnic background, no one can rightly claim citizenship in/of Israel without first bowing the knee to Israel’s legitimate King, the Lord Jesus Christ, “the son of David, the son of Abraham” (Matt.1:1) ~ Basile Sakkas: The Orthodox Faith

“Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.” So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith…… The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ”

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,  for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” – (Galatians 3)

  1. Great post Mr. PJMiller. God promised Abraham that he would become a great and mighty nation, and that all the nations of the world would be blessed. And furthermore, that all the generations after would keep all the ways of God. This speaks of Jesus, and that all who come to Jesus and that are born again, will become that great nation that will be blessed. The whole promise is Jesus, and about Jesus, and those that believe in Jesus and keep His Words of the gospel until Jesus comes back again to separate the unbelievers from His Saints! This always tells us that the people of Israel are no longer God’s chosen, but those that come to Jesus and keep God’s commandments of loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and abide in Christ, these are the chosen people now, which culminate the body of Christ and is the Bride waiting for the Bridegroom which is Jesus to come and bring us home with Him!
Genesis 18:18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

  2. That’s straight forward, “orthodox” and succinct.

One of the most amazing prayers found in the Bible is this one and keep in mind this is the man Abraham had in mind first to be heir of all his possessions when he died:::>

Gen 24:10 Then the servant took ten of his master’s camels and departed, taking all sorts of choice gifts from his master; and he arose and went to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor.
Gen 24:11 And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time when women go out to draw water.
Gen 24:12 And he said, “O LORD, God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today and show steadfast love to my master Abraham.
Gen 24:13 Behold, I am standing by the spring of water, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water.
Gen 24:14 Let the young woman to whom I shall say, ‘Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”
Gen 24:15 Before he had finished speaking, behold, Rebekah, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, came out with her water jar on her shoulder. …

Gen 24:26 The man bowed his head and worshiped the LORD
Gen 24:27 and said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the LORD has led me in the way to the house of my master’s kinsmen.”

Here’s a man who was a Syrian from Damascus. He wasn’t even of Abraham’s bloodline! What Faith! What Hope! What Love he had for Abraham! He prayed to the same Lord we do. He worshiped the same Lord we do. It is amazing just how blind the Jews are when they don’t see the Lord in all their circumstances in life, like the circumstances this man found himself in as written in Genesis 24!

What is even more amazing is the prayer and worship!! Think about the promises God made to Abram, that He would make him a great nation; and, in Exodus we learn the purpose for this great nation, Israel, is they are to be a “praying” “interceding people” praying to Lord for the blessings of Abraham to come on the nations! See Genesis 18 then Genesis 22 where the blessing is extended to “all” nations. In Genesis 12 the blessing was to “families”. After God changes Abram’s name to Abraham He then says He will through Abraham’s great nation bless the other families and nations of the earth. In Exodus Moses is told to tell this great nation they are to see themselves as a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’

What do a kingdom of priests do? They pray for others as we see this man from Damascus pray for Abraham!

Now fast forward to our time. We, the Church, are a holy nation and peculiar people that we too should pray for the nations of the world that God would fulfill His promises to them so He will go about saving and blessing others as He has already saved and blessed us!

As I have shared in other comments before for you to think that the nation of Israel today is anything other than a nation in need of prayer and receive the blessings of Abraham too is to think deceptively.

The nation of Israel is like every other nation; she is a nation in need of God’s Grace and Mercy and Peace just like every other nation on earth!

Yes, it is amazing Michael! Only in recent years have i truly understood God’s original plan for the nation (Israel), how they were to be a blessing to ALL nations and a light by which all nations came to know the one living God. Once you realize this their failure to fulfill this is even greater. I have come across one person in particular (at another blog) who believes National Israel will still fulfill this. He/She cannot understand there is no longer any need for them to fulfill being a light by which all nations come to God, for the REAL LIGHT, JESUS, has already came!

The nation of Israel is like every other nation; she is a nation in need of God’s Grace and Mercy and Peace just like every other nation on earth!

Yes i agree. We do know there will be a remnant called out of that nation, as there will be out of all nations, who will come to Christ and be saved. I praise God for that.

  3. “Regardless of racial or ethnic background, no one can rightly claim citizenship in/of Israel without first bowing the knee to Israel’s legitimate King, the Lord Jesus Christ…”

That’s a great way of putting it, and this echoes the point made by Paul in Ephesians 2:

“…at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise… Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone…” (Ephesians 2:12, 19-20).

    • Adam, i loved that quote. Reading it last evening i thought of not only your recent post, but all those people we come across at Charisma (and elsewhere) who fail to grasp who true Israel is, Jesus, and by our abiding in Him we too are true Israelites.

Kings require their subjects to bow before them. To wrongly believe one can be a true Israelite without bowing before Israel’s one true and only King, is as the author wrote, an understanding of Israel which is flawed.

  4. Great site, so many excellent points and articles defending the truth about who Israel truly is, and always has been!
