Todd’s new wife communicates with Oral Roberts

video: Todd Bentley Friday Night Revival at Morningstar

What does the Bible say about talking to the dead?

The Old Testament term for communicating with the dead is “necromancy.” (Deuteronomy 18:11, also read verse 10) It is forbidden by God: “There shall not be found among you… For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord” (an “abomination,” KJV). Also see: 1 Samuel 28:3-20; 2 Chronicles 10:13, 14; Isaiah 8:19-22. The punishment for contacting the dead is very severe, if not repented of.

The real force at work in such “apparitions” (appearances of the deceased) is deception: demonic activity, evil spirits. Satan disguises himself as “an angel of light,” it says in 2 Corinthians 11:14.

When someone claims to have received a “vision” of the dead, it’s really a deception of the enemy — demon forces at work. Luke chapter 16 contains excellent instruction on the state of the dead, referring to an impassable separation between the after-life and this world. Those in the next world, saved or otherwise, simply do not return to deliver messages to the living. (Link)

Why would an unclean spirit seek to make contact with specific people?

Three possible reasons are,

  • The door for spiritual contacts was opened by someone in the immediate family who has engaged in occult activities.
  • An involvement in a church that engages in dangerous spiritual practices.
  • Involvement in a cult.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God..” 1Jn. 4

Behind every prophet is a spirit. The question is does the Spirit of God or an unclean spirit lead the teacher. Before we trust any teacher, we must “test the spirits.” Test, not fear or close our mind to the real. Paul wrote in 1 Thess.5:20-22, “Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good.”

“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies…” 2 Pet.2

  1. I’m not sure whats worse – the wife’s necromancy or Joyner’s claim that Bentley has led 1 million people to the Lord

    1Cor 3:7
So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase

Todd Bentley has never led anyone to the Lord because Todd Bentley does not know the Lord. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit.

    • Steve i must have been so concentrated on the claim that his wife heard from Oral Roberts, i didn’t even catch that about 1 million led to Christ.

Todd Bentley has never led anyone to the Lord because Todd Bentley does not know the Lord. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit.

      Sadly, amen.

  2. On the one hand I have no problem with folks speaking to the dead in dreams. I’m always dreaming of talking with my dead mother. Who knows if it’s she or not? We don’t know about a lot of things. What I have a problem with is that God should talk to Jessa through Oral Roberts. I’m not an unforgiving person. But I tend to believe what Jesus said about if a man divorces his wife and marries another –so this kinda bothers me. There’s true repentance and there’s quick repentance. Where’s the humility? Oral has to talk to these people? Kinda self-important. Trying not to judge…but …seems like deception to me.

Carole, i have also dreamed on occasion of both my mom and dad, but on awakening i knew it was just a dream–not an actual visit from them. Both are in heaven with Jesus and the saints who have already left this world. We have the hope of being once again reunited with our loved ones who died in Christ. But until then, they are on one side of the door, while we are still on this side of the door.

  3. For any believer who has even the most basic understanding of the scripture, this is one of those “run for your life things”. The fact that those who are following these people are, for the most part, hanging on to this thing is a huge indication that they are in reality unsaved. What other conclusion can one come to? This is witchcraft. What other word can one use? Disaster looms for these people, these things never end well.

  4. What an utter creep that man is! How can people be so gullible as to believe a word he says?

He was exposed at Lakeland as a liar and adulterer, as well as a false prophet, false teacher, and false healer. Now he comes back unrepentent and unchanged, given a platform by Rick Joyner, who must therefore also be a total fraud.

  5. I’m curious to hear what the unclean spirit who appeared as Oral Roberts, told her. I’m sure its to do with passing ‘his’ mantel and/or ‘anointing’ on to Todd…

This young woman has bought into this modern day “Christian” witchcraft movement, hook, line, and sinker. Next we’ll read/hear she’s making trips to heaven through open portals and visiting with ‘Oral’ face to face. If you recall Todd told of doing the same and visiting with Paul in his ‘mansion’…

For any believer who has even the most basic understanding of the scripture, this is one of those “run for your life things”.

Disaster looms for these people, these things never end well.

    Amen George.

    • you can hear what jessa says if you go to the whole video on the Fresh Fire site: at about 100 mins or so.
its all to do with wild elephants and lions apparently – now why am I not surprised
also she does some wild stacey campbell head moving
trouble is she has the potential of being quite a compelling speaker (only my opinion) – not the last we have heard of her and now all the talk about women etc makes sense because they were setting her up as a speaker with authority.

  6. I was wondering if anyone has heard about Mike Bickle going to give Todd a word. Did he? Can you imagine those two joining together in ministry!

    • I did read something about him going, but haven’t read anything about what he said.

Maybe a search at Bentley’s website might locate it. I’ll check around for it..

  7. What struck my fancy was the boldness and the pause for audience approval after announcing he’s back and useful to the kingdom these folks belong too.

That is a sure indicator of his need for approval of men and not of God.

Quite a difference when you set that in the light of Peter the Apostle, full of the True Holy Spirit:::>

Act 4:19 But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge,
Act 4:20 for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.”

These folks are confidence artists taking their own on a ride.

Yes George, this sort never end well!

    sadly, amen

Yes, you’re right Michael. Did you also notice his way of speaking took on a tone you hear from old time preachers, a few times? It was early in the clip..

I recall thinking that he’s picked up something new since last i heard him in front of a crowd.

  8. you can hear what jessa says if you go to the whole video on the Fresh Fire site: at about 100 mins or so.

Thanks Jan, im going to check it out.

its all to do with wild elephants and lions apparently….also she does some wild stacey campbell head moving

    Good grief!

trouble is she has the potential of being quite a compelling speaker (only my opinion)

The only time i’ve heard her speak was very briefly on one of the Bentley/Joyner restoration clips. (im going to have to listen to this)

  9. I suspect that Oral would really be annoyed, as Elijah was with the witch of Endor. Oral in heaven: “Well, I was hangin’ out with my wife and Jesus, but if you *insist* that I talk to you…” 🙂

    • Rick, just a bit of clarification, it was Samuel, not Elijah.

When Elijah came down again, he wasn’t annoyed seeing God sent him along with Moses to talk to Jesus about His return back to Heaven itself.

And PJ, yes, I noticed that sound at the end of some of his sentences as he was walking and talking around the stage.

That seems to be some familiar spirit you see around some pentecostal circles. Maybe he has spent some of his time watching old Roberts clips and other old time revivalists from yester year?

In any event, he is polished and this machine is humming.

The sad thing is, once you are leavened your whole lump is next!

Quite frankly, I got sick just watching that video because there is so much truth laced all through it. That’s the way the devil works as we can understand by reading the exchanges between him and Jesus in the Gospels.

That jessa thing she did was amazing. Wasn’t there another lady who could shake her head that fast and speak with clear oratory? It was a blond haired lady, I think?

Just for the fun of it, I tried to shake my head back and forth that fast and talk at the same time and almost fell down.

You have to practice that or you have to be under the influence of the controlling spirit whom you are cooperating with!

In any event none of that rings true for me.

When I watched that IHOP video the other day and now watching this one, you can see a spirit that has these people. It’s a personality to be sure. It’s different than the one in the IHOP video.

When the Holy Spirit is present it’s very clear and distinctly Holy!

  10. My apologies, it was Samuel who was called down by the Witch of Endor. (Still wouldn’t be surprised if Oral was an annoyed at the disturbance as Samuel was though…)

    • Twas the devil, as that fake Samuel drove King Saul to despair. The real Samaul would have commanded repentance.

  11. guys, i haven’t watched this. but i have a feeling these two are being groomed to be put back in position where Todd was before the divorce, drunkeness, and kicking people in the stomach. problem is, before these things he committed adultery three other times, lied in the pulpit over and over and over again for a decade, and faked speaking in tongues. he and jessa are being groomed to be lead preachers in the NAR. i tell you it makes me want to scream. it irritates me to no end that these people are more interested in their own agendas than God’s. they will keep up with these visions and experiences in an attempt to appear as spiritual king and queen, therefore establishing authority again as the preeminents. problem is this time jessa can speak better than the other wife, so deception will be easier. may God judge this fiasco, soon. come Lord come.

    • Yes he’s back…’bolder and bigger’ then before, still claiming Lakeland was a great move of God and promising bigger and greater to come…

You’re right lwd, the last 12 months has been a gooming time for Todd and his new wife, in preparation for the come-back tour.

  12. And a big hat tip to PJ for seeing this first! As I am happy to mention in my own post on all this necromancy stuff…

  13. Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. II Thessalonians 2

  14. I thank the lord with all my heart as he open my eyes to the false teachers sighns an wonders two and a half years ago, I was so decieved and lost. it was only by the grace of God that brought me out before the likes of todd b,the lord deliverd me from manefestations that i was told in my mega church was the holy spirit..he used websites like apostasy.com to open my eyes.thank God for his mercy.tried to warn others about todd b but they wont listen

  15. Far easier to get an appointment with Oral Roberts these days…..

  16. I’m absolutely staggered by Bentley’s lack of both repentance and humility. Also, the fact that he hasn’t seen through “sick” Rick means either that he’s utterly ignorant of the scriptures or he’s utterly soaked in the same deceptions (2Tim3:13).

Anyway hallelujah and maranatha! We’re living on the thin end of the wedge of real, Biblical Christianity and loonies like this just prove it. When less than ten righteous were found in Sodom and Gomorrah, God sent His angels to evacuate them. How long before the numbers get so low in our world that Father says “enough is enough”? Not long, say I!

Thanks for your excellent blog. *Click* bookmarked! 🙂

  17. Hi PJ, I found my way here from M’kayla’s Korner. 🙂

“The door for spiritual contacts was opened by someone in the immediate family who has engaged in occult activities.”

I know this article is fairly old, but would it be possible for you to expand on this a bit, Biblically of possible? Would “immediate family” include siblings?

    – Canadian Reader

  18. Hi and welcome to the blog!

Some years ago i worked in a Church ministry which some might call a deliverance ministry. Personally, i never liked that term, but preferred to see it as a ministry which helped those in spiritual bondage. During my time in this ministry i came upon people who were being seriously harassed by demons (or unclean spirits, if you prefer) who had immediate family members (living in the home) who had become enamored with the occult: having personal contact and on-going relationships with mediums, “good” or “bad” witches, etc. or, in some cases with occult objects…such as a Ouija board, crystals, etc.

After meeting with these folks, it become clear that though they themselves were not participating in any occult activity the family member who was, had invited unclean spirits into the home. Once in the home these unclean spirits sought to gain access to the entire family. This resulted in the harassment these folks were experiencing.

We know as followers of God, we’re not to bring (or invite) strange ‘gods’ into our home. God even refers to this as bringing an abomination or cursed “thing” into the home. (Deuteronomy 7:26).

But when a family member does bring a cursed thing in to the home, or through their actions invites unclean spirits to enter, we must exercise our authority over these entities. In most all of the instances in which i met with believers who were suffering from spiritual harassment, …because of this, or as a result of other things in their lives, they did not know or understand about the authority given to us as believers. Frankly, they had never been taught how to,

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6

They did not comprehend that Jesus not only gave the 12 disciples authority,

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10

He also bestowed his authority to the 70,

And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Luke 10

And, praise God, that very same authority, as his servants, is ours today,

For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Mark 13

Hope i touched on your question…and as far as your question, Would “immediate family” include siblings?, the answer is yes.
