Pastor prays for the death of all 219 Democrats

Contrary to what was ‘prophesied” I woke up this morning to no sign of  Armageddon and not a single Communist tank rolling down the streets of my city. And the last time I looked out, the sky hadn’t fallen either.

But I didn’t really expect to see any of those things. God is still in control!

What I did expect to see was an immediate resurgence of the typical  “Nuts on Parade” I’ve become use to in the last 2 years.

I wasn’t disappointed.

As Randy Neugebauer cops to shouting “baby killer” on the House floor, a pastor who ran for VP with Alan Keyes has asked for the death of all 219 Democrats who voted for yesterday’s bill.

Orange Country Pastor Wiley Drake fired off an email to his supporters this morning, telling them that all 219 Democrats have been placed on the “imprecatory prayer list.” “We’ll remember in November and pray Psalms 109 while waiting,” he urged, before listing each offending congressman by name in “Satan’s domain in Washington D.C.”

Psalms 109:8 reads: “May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership” followed by “May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.”

In recent weeks, Drake has stepped up his calls to stop the health-care bill through the death prayer, offered as part of a morning “Telephonic Imprecatory Prayer Team” conference call. After Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s wife and daughter were seriously injured in a car crash this month, Drake wrote “Since God almost let family members die, maybe Mr. Reid sees Imprecatory Prayer in a different light, ya think??”

  1. Unbelievable. And this man is a christian pastor?

  2. If one reads down through the Psalm, the reason for this judgement is explained:

“Because he did not remember to show mercy, But persecuted a poor and needy man, And one pierced to the heart, that he might kill him. And he loved cursing, and it came to him, And he did not desire blessing, so it shall be far from him. … This is the work of those who falsely accuse me before the Lord, And of those who speak evil things against my soul, … Save me for I am poor and needy, And my heart is troubled within me.”

When applied to this situation of the Republicans v the Democrats, when you read the whole passage, its sounds for all the world like this Pastor has the roles reversed. I suspect he is just using cut and paste theology to advance his personal agenda/vendetta. The judgement people apply in these cases often does come back to rest on them.

    • George – I read the psalm through too but do not know if God actually answered David’s prayer – do we know anything about who he is referring to? David was appealing to act as Judge but did God act in that way. Even Judas (Acts 1 v 20) took his own life and did not die as a result of God’s Judgement?

  3. sorry – appealing to God to act as Judge
someone’s praying against me – ha ha ha

  4. It seems he must be missing it?

Here is two verses that imply the “Church” is in the world, not of it and when we pray our prayers have a purposeful intent behind and in front of them.

I would say, the Holy Spirit’s intent and Drakes are not in line with each other??

Here is a prayer that God is willing to answer:::>

Joh 17:14 I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
Joh 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
Joh 17:18 As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.
Joh 17:19 And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.
Joh 17:20 “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word,
Joh 17:21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Joh 17:22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one,
Joh 17:23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.

In light of the answer to that prayer, here is what I am willing to pray for with regard to all those in authority:::>

1Ti 2:1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,
1Ti 2:2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
1Ti 2:3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
1Ti 2:4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Now, nowhere in that Prayer Jesus prayed or in the admonition of Paul is there any mention of leader’s coming to death. Hmmmmm?

With regard to God’s “belief” about us, His True Body in the world today, He believes we are able to live in the world all the while not being of the world.

With regard to that fact alone then, it seems to me we can learn a lot from the Apostle Paul about what the prayer should be then that we should pray to God when it comes to praying for those in elective offices in the United States. It isn’t, oh God, kill that wretch, but rather, “move on the hearts of these leaders that what they effect does not affect our quiet and peaceable life lived godly and dignified in every way.

If it is so that ungodliness prevails and increases even more in the United States of America because of these recent passages of legislation, as another government institution is established as more law of the land that we are subject to, which I hasten to say, I don’t see much in the United States government these days as godly or as dignified in institution, it isn’t to be such that it is to affect my life before God anyway.

The Scriptures alone teach us of many of our brethren in far worse ungodly circumstances, when suffering, who remained faithful and full of the Life that comes from Jesus Christ.

As you know, the whole world lies in the lap of the wicked one. The Church is a group of people that God has found and drawn out and made to be members of His Light shining in the dark places!

Faithfulness to God is not a national creed of any nation. In fact, faithfulness to God is found in every nation!

So let us pray for our governors and rulers and those who carry civil responsibilities that we might indeed lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.

    Why?

Why it is pleasing to God, that’s why! 🙂

    • Michael, You are so right about all this. The government is not a model of “righteousness” in all of this of course. That is not the purpose of government in the first place. It is, rather, the purpose of the church. The government on the other hand is a very imperfect institution (since it is made up of imperfect people) that is chartered by God Himself to maintain order in society.

These people insist on confusing the role and purpose of the government with the role and purpose of the church. Government tends to fill a vacuum. When people act responsibly and solve problems in their communities as individuals and via local governments, the power of national government will slowly retreat. When people act irresponsibly as these people are doing, that, ironically, is just the sort of action that promotes further extension and expansion of national government.

If all of the banking and securities scandals had not occurred due to powerful people acting grossly irresponsibly, there would be no pressure for increased regulation, in fact the opposite would be occurring. The same is true of healthcare. The result of people acting irresponsibly is always more oppressive government control and regulation. And what these people are doing with their window breaking and threats will only result in a long term curtailment of their current political freedoms. The same will happen due to states passing legislation attempting to thwart federal law. They should be directing all of their anger through the court system which, along with PEACEFUL and RESPECTIVE demonstration, is the proper way to challenge unpopular legislation. The rest is just childish and will only damage their cause.

  5. Jan (2) :

George – I read the psalm through too but do not know if God actually answered David’s prayer – do we know anything about who he is referring to? David was appealing to act as Judge but did God act in that way. Even Judas (Acts 1 v 20) took his own life and did not die as a result of God’s Judgement?

Jan, you are correct that this passage does refer to Judas betrayal of the Lord. He not only betrayed the Lord, but he was stealing from the money intended for the poor and basically playing the role of the consummate politician. That is why I made the role reversal comment. But even further, we are admonished in scripture to “bless and not curse” (Mt 5.44) and to “turn the other cheek” to our enemies (Mt 5.39). I am not sure it is forbidden in scripture to pray for an evil person’s death, but it is certainly a very serious thing. I can understand something like this when someone is persecuting Christians to the point of death because of their faith in Christ, but this is about politics for crying out loud. To imply that all these Democrat members of congress are morally on the level of Judas is loony. And then there is, of course, the Lord’s Prayer which indicates the we will be forgiven on the same basis as we forgive others (Lk 11.4). I am sure there are ways this guy could rationalize his way around these points, but I think he has a pretty weak case. Its a sad thing when politics become more important to a “pastor” than the work of the gospel. And, on top of that, he is advocating for the party representing the interests of wealth and power in this country and against the party doing the most to try to represent the interests of the underclass. The whole thing just stinks to high heaven. But surprising its not. As PJ points out, its indeed Nuts on Parade.

    • Yes George, what is happening is the parade of nuts.

Watching and listening to some of these folks on TV and radio today, reminded me of the prophets of baal,

So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed. Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying….But there was no response, no one answered..(1 kings 18)

Saw a news item about one crazy blogger…one of the incidents he’s taking credit for occurred in my neck of the woods,

A blogger from Pinson, Ala., has encouraged his readers to break windows at Democratic headquarters across the country as a show of opposition to health care reform.

To all modern Sons of Liberty: THIS is your time. Break their windows. Break them NOW.

Sons of Liberty burn and sack the house of the Massachusetts lieutenant governor, Thomas Hutchinson.

These windows are not far away from where you are reading this right now. In virtually every city and county in this land, there is a local headquarters of Pelosi’s party — the Democrat party. These headquarters invariably have windows.

So, if you wish to send a message that Pelosi and her party cannot fail to hear, break their windows.

      Break them NOW.

Break them and run to break again. Break them under cover of night. Break them in broad daylight. Break them and await arrest in willful, principled civil disobedience. Break them with rocks. Break them with slingshots. Break them with baseball bats. (link)

Only one more nut in the parade line. The line is growing longer by the hour…

  6. compassion on all who are lost and this man as well and those like him when we meet them.
    2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I haven’t met one person in my life time who was born perfect, but one!

  7. “Nuts on Parade” LOL – that is about it in a “nutshell”. Once again another misrepresentation of what true Christianity is…I agree completely that God’s sovereignty is and will always be intact.

Love your comments on this post PJ.

  8. michael :

    Why?

This IS precisely what the role of the church should be in these matters. Both the scriptures and the church fathers a clearly in agreement on this one point. Michael hit it right on.

  9. pjmiller :Jonathan, its not a matter of imperfection, its a matter of lunacy.

    an evil spirit;2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Do you think he said the easy prayer as a lot you have?

    • Jonathan, “easy prayer?”…

Its a lot easier to curse those we see as enemies (if the really are or not) then to love them.

This lunatic pastor wants to see everyone struck dead who doesn’t agree with him. He’s not defending God or God’s word, he strikes out with this stuff for personal reasons.

Now, saying all that–if you want to defend him, feel free to do so. That is between you and God. But this blog will never defend self-serving glory hounds and nuts.

  10. Pj said………”But this blog will never defend self-serving glory hounds and nuts”

Ahaha, I guess that’s why it’s such a pleasure to come here.

    • You’re a real blessing here ROT. God has blessed you with a gift of encouragement. (im not kidding!)
