The New Definition of Revival in America

If this is now the definition of a true God-sent revival then there’s no denying it, I’m antiquated.

Dr. Alex McFarland, apologetics author and religion and culture expert, is launching a new initiative called Project 2026 to restore Christian principles to America. The 15-year project will engage Christians and churches across the U.S. to pray and work toward changing dominant cultural trends back toward a Christian perspective by America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

McFarland told The Christian Post Wednesday that many of the social movements in our culture, like the homosexual agenda and the spread of Islam and atheism have taken “15 to 20 years to come to fruition” and penetrate the culture. In looking at those trends, McFarland wanted to do something to reverse them, so he started studying the history of revivals and how they could impact the culture.

This is why he believes the 15-year time span of Project 2026 is integral in sparking a revival. He said the interest in a restoration of values is visible across the country.

McFarland, through a comprehensive plan, and help from other like-minded leaders around the country, hopes to involve 100,000 churches nationwide in the project over the next 15 years. To reach that goal, he will form organized coalitions, communicate the project’s goals through writing and syndicated radio programs, involve America’s youth, parents and grandparents by creating small-group study materials, and host national conferences. He said 2012 is about building that coalition, and in 2013 and 2014 McFarland and his team will be releasing some resources for churches and young adults.

As he speaks to young people, McFarland tells them: “We need to assert ourselves as leaders in various engines of the culture … as a Christian assume your role in journalism, medicine, science, and take your Christianity with you.”

Other core tenets of the project include: God, Life, Morality, Prayer and Worship and American exclusivism. (full article at CPost)

If you’ve not read about the powerful “GOD SENT – SPIRIT LED” revivals of the past, google Great Revivals in History. Compare what you find to this ridiculous man-made idea of revival which ‘has a form of godliness’ but denies ‘the power thereof’.

In the meantime listen to these voices from the past…

  1. […] read more, click HERE Hope they perhaps considered Jesus in all this and the fact that the Bible clearly states that […]

  2. “We need to assert ourselves as leaders in various engines of the culture … as a Christian assume your role in journalism, medicine, science, and take your Christianity with you.”

“Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”

One of the above quotes is not Christian.

    • You’re right Rick. That first quote is pure “7-mountains” dominionism.
Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war, with the cross of Jesus, going on before

  3. So he’s making the church and “christianity” serve the national interest and the mistaken notion of American exceptionalism? Oh, I thought Jesus was the Head of His church, unto the glory of God forever. Changing the values of the country to what you like better is now the great commission, huh?

    • Changing the values of the country to what you like better is now the great commission, huh?

Victoria, listening to the loudest Christians in America today, you’d think it was. :-(

When seeking to change a nation’s “values” becomes more important then winning the lost souls INSIDE that nation, that nation’s churches are dying or dead.

  4. HAPPY NEW YEAR, J!
This story reminds me of that whole “Purpose Driven” mess. Jesus said “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
Guess they’re trying to skip that and force “cultural change” as an alternative.
I think this guy forgets that there are men and women locked in false religions that follow the “values” he describes. The devil doesn’t care if you “change dominant cultural trends”. So long as Jesus isn’t your Lord and Savior, you can be as straitlaced as you want and the devil won’t care.
God did say “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” I don’t think you can do any of this by pointing your finger at the “dominant culture”.
Judgement begins in the house of the Lord, revival begins in broken repentance, love fulfills all the law and the prophets, love the Lord first like He said we must, and THAT is how a nation can change. One little believer at a time. No exterior action required beyond love.
If you love, you WILL share the gospel, and if you love God above anything and everything else you WILL obey Him.
In the days of the early church, non-believers were intrigued by all that love. They came to see what it was all about and the church grew. Now they run away. What should that tell us? The word “pharisees” comes to mind.

    • Happy new year to u too M! :-)

I agree with everything you wrote…amen, amen!

I think this guy forgets that there are men and women locked in false religions that follow the “values” he describes. The devil doesn’t care if you “change dominant cultural trends”. So long as Jesus isn’t your Lord and Savior, you can be as straitlaced as you want and the devil won’t care.

Reading that last sentence (So long as Jesus isn’t your Lord and Savior, you can be as straitlaced as you want and the devil won’t care) reveals the real spirit operating behind all these Christian political-activist movements. It’s satan.
