You may recall a recent post in which I expressed sorrow at seeing Dinesh D’Souza’s despicable book & questionable documentary being (repeatedly) promoted at The Christian Post, along with my disbelief that he was being promoted as the featured speaker at what was claimed to be “America’s largest Annual Christian Apologetics Conference”. Well, it appears now the guy may be in a bit of hot water:
After a meteoric rise in the evangelical world, The King’s College president Dinesh D’Souza now faces his board’s likely questions about his relationship to a woman not his wife.
About 2,000 people gathered on Sept. 28 at First Baptist North in Spartanburg, S.C., to hear high-profile Christians speak on defending the faith and applying a Christian worldview to their lives. Among the speakers: Eric Metaxas, Josh McDowell, and—keynote speaker for the evening—best-selling author, filmmaker, and Christian college president Dinesh D’Souza.
D’Souza’s speech earned him a standing ovation and a long line at the book-signing table immediately afterward. Although D’Souza has been married for 20 years to his wife, Dixie, in South Carolina he was with a young woman, Denise Odie Joseph II, and introduced her to at least three people as his fiancée.
Finally, near 11 p.m., event organizer Tony Beam escorted D’Souza and Joseph to the nearby Comfort Suites. Beam noted that they checked in together and were apparently sharing a room for the night in the sold-out hotel. The next morning, around 6 a.m., Beam arrived back at the hotel and called up to D’Souza’s room. “We’ll be down in 10 minutes,” D’Souza told Beam. D’Souza and Joseph came down together, and Beam took them to the airport.
The next day another conference organizer, Alex McFarland, distressed by D’Souza’s behavior, confronted him in a telephone conversation. D’Souza admitted he shared a room with his fiancée but said “nothing happened.” When I called D’Souza, he confirmed that he was indeed engaged to Joseph, but did not explain how he could be engaged to one woman while still married to another. When asked when he had filed for divorce from his wife, Dixie, D’Souza answered, “Recently.”
According to San Diego County (Calif.) Superior Court records, D’Souza filed for divorce only on Oct. 4, the day I spoke with him. Under California law, that starts the clock on a six-month waiting period for divorce. D’Souza on Oct. 4 told me his marriage was “over,” said he “is sure Denise is the one for me,” and said he had “done nothing wrong.”
The episode is a strange twist in D’Souza’s otherwise meteoric rise in the evangelical world. He developed a reputation among evangelicals with a string of best-sellers, including The Roots of Obama’s Rage, which spawned a movie, Obama: 2016, which has now grossed more than $30 million. He broke into the Christian conference and megachurch market in 2007 with the release of a book that year, What’s So Great About Christianity.
D’Souza now receives speaking fees sometimes in excess of $10,000 from Christian groups, putting him in the top tier of Christian speakers…

There must be a more powerful word than just the word “hypocrite”. How about “unber-hypocrite.” As far as I know the Obama this man hates is still married to the same woman. Game-set-match.
I really think that this has more than hypocrisy behind it. It is, rather, the very “in your face” evidence of the corrupting effect of politics on the church. As much as one might conclude that politics is a “necessary evil”, the political realm is probably matched only by the pornography industry when it comes to corruption. When “men of God” saturate their lives in politics and even bring this filth into the church, the results are predictable. As they begin to wine and dine with the politicians, their moral compass gets reset and no longer matches up with the biblical standard, and even they fail to perceive the change. This process is not new. It has been going on in the conservative evangelical church for the past 20 to 30 years. But it has been spreading and gaining more and more acceptability among the parishioners. In many congregations today, one dare not speak out against the politicization of the church lest one be all be disfellowshipped as a result. There are certainly moral issues all around us. And these moral issues usually involve parallel political issues. But when one fails to discern the subtle differences between the moral issues and political issues, all hell breaks loose. These people are intent on sanctifying the political and business spheres with the holiness of the church. But what they end up doing instead is polluting the church with the inherent filth of the business and political realms.
I’ll never understand the propensity of some Christian ‘celebrities’ to self-destruct.
Did he think his political/religious buddies wouldn’t speak up?
I see that D’Souza has called off the engagement and his girlfriend has taken down her blog.
If King’s College has a high standard of conduct for students, I doubt the board meeting will go well for the president tonite.
Kings College policy on overnight guests: “Opposite gender guests are not permitted to stay overnight in King’s College housing.”
The Honor Code for students says: “A student of The King’s College will not lie, cheat, steal, or turn a blind eye to those who do. Every student is honor bound to confront any other student who breaches the Honor Code.”
I want to say that we don’t have all the details and intricacies. However, he seems to be the worst of all, the religious hypocrite, casting his finger down as he fills himself with love of the dark.
Every Christian divorce brings more destruction and shame on marriage than any law permitting homosexual marriage.
Well, so much for the hyprocrite D’Souza. When the Bible speaks of even avoiding the appearance of evil but yet this “Christian” authors openly shacks up with a woman not his wife!…and his response…”nothing happened!” This what happens when people like D’Souza are given a free pass on their own morality check because of their status in the Body of Christ. A false and phony status to say the least. Will Kings College can him? I doubt it. He is too much of a cash cow for them. They will spank his groping hands and issue a watered down press release and that will be the end of it.
As for the students who would have done the same…..suspension or explusion…because they lied and besmirched the name of the college. But for D’Souza? A look the other way and a crafted press release. Will D’Souza publicly confess his sin since it was done publicly? I doubt it. Why? Too much pride and afterall, who wants to lose those fat cat speaking fees!!! IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY BABEE.

Because of his partisan politics, this man who claimed to be a Christian, was trodding upon dangerous spiritual ground long before his indiscretions with this woman were brought into the light.
Even a cursory look into the horrible book he wrote, a book in which he falsely claimed Obama’s mother was “so busy sleeping around Indonesia that she had no time for her son”…….one in which he referred to the mother of the president of the United States as a ‘whore’ and a ‘slut’…and depicted her as a ‘sexual predator’, shows what kind of man Dinesh D’Souza is. The idea, he has now been caught in some type of moral sin, doesn’t surprise me in the least, for he was already spiritually bankrupt long before his recent September weekend in Spartanburg, S.C.
AND the problem with these people goes BEYOND simply engaging in partisan politics. 1) They are doing it IN the sanctuary of the church from the pulpit. 2) They are identifying political icons, mere men, as being some sort of “hope” for our country and for the church which enters into the realm of blasphemy, idolatry, etc etc.
The ONLY hope for the world is JESUS CHRIST! Not Mitt Romney or Barack Obama or human efforts at morality. Those who even vaguely imply otherwise form the pulpit are making themselves enemies of the cross.
I have NEVER heard a politician utter the name of Jesus without it being at least to some degree self serving and politically expedient. The rule is always a little bit of “religion” but not to much, just enough to be politically correct. God bless the United States of America and all of that rubbish. It would, of course, be blessed IF they really meant it, but I suspect that is probably a rarity.

Here’s some Words we can pray as a spiritual sacrifice as the Royal Priesthood we have been brought into to offer before the Living God:

And those Words came out of the heart of an adulterer God called a man after His own Heart.
I am not saying this man which is the central focus of these comments is in the sense of King David’s authority, just that if God doesn’t touch anyone of our hearts so that our heart is going after His own Heart, where would any one of us be even still?
I don’t want to lose sight of the Fear of the Lord or His Glory and I am sure none of you want too?
From reading the foregoing comments it seems each of you commenting so far are endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in a bond of Peace, too?
This is the first time that I recall ever knowing anything about this man but from what I gather some of you happen to know about him and his ministry and his role in some Biblical sense of leadership that he has received some honors as a Christian leader of the Faith once delivered to the Saints?
That being the case, it behooves us then to take to heart these Words and pray for him and for his recovery and restoration to that ministry he has been given to serve the True Body of Christ with:
Heb 13:18 Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.
Heb 13:19 I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

If the Apostle Paul in his day was earnestly urging people to pray for him in several places in Scripture, either to be rejoined to those whom the Lord joined him too to serve them, not that Paul had fallen into the sorts of things this man has, or to be brought to them from one place to another, I suppose this man ought to have the Faithful praying for him also?
“Just saying…”, especially in light of these Words, too:
2Ch 6:36 “If they sin against you–for there is no one who does not sin–and you are angry with them and give them to an enemy, so that they are carried away captive to a land far or near,
2Ch 6:37 yet if they turn their heart in the land to which they have been carried captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned and have acted perversely and wickedly,’
2Ch 6:38 if they repent with all their mind and with all their heart in the land of their captivity to which they were carried captive, and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city that you have chosen and the house that I have built for your name,
2Ch 6:39 then hear from heaven your dwelling place their prayer and their pleas, and maintain their cause and forgive your people who have sinned against you.
I suppose we all want to prescribe some remedy that he should come too but certainly we all can agree the Lord has His own remedy in mind for him and for his restoration?
There are two final Scriptural references I want to place in here with these comments for you all making remedial comments to consider and encourage that this man find the work of the Lord active in his life restored to a public trust anew?
Php 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Php 3:21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Michael, The case you seem to be trying to make here is extremely weak. David was restored SPIRITUALLY because he repented. IF this man repents, he will also regain his right standing with God AND be completely forgiven. David never really had the kingdom restored to him. From that time on the kingdom AND his family went into a long decline. The fact that David was not forced to renounce his claim to the throne is NOT a model for the Church although many try to imply that it is. The Orthodox Church has a zero tolerance policy for their priests and plenty of scripture to back that up. Unfortunately much of the protestant church is following after the Roman Church in attempting to cover the sins of their leadership and in doing everything possible to restore to LEADERSHIP even those who commit the most heinous of sins. Over and over they quote all the forgiveness verses and explain away all the scriptures that involve church discipline (handing over to Satan, excommunicating, etc). This is a very selective and unbalanced use of scripture.
The scripture from Hebrews doesn’t relate to this at all. You are openly comparing Paul with this man who is betraying the gospel and the cross by his ungodly lifestyle? I can’t believe it.
The passage from 2 Cor is speaking of a situation where we are sinned against. In this case this man is sinning against his wife, his mistress, his congregation, and most of all, God. He is not sinning against any of us as far as I know, so I don’t know how you would try to apply this verse to us. In any case, all it goes on to say is that if I am the one sinned against and hand them over to an enemy and they repent, God will hear and forgive them. This is very parallel with what the Bible admonishes in terms of handing people over to Satan, that they may be brought to repentance. I DOES NOT SAY to “pray for them”, it says to hand them over to Satan.
These sorts of circuses are an ever increasing plague in the evangelical churches and they are a significant part of what is CAUSING a lot of OUR children to leave the church in disgust. The reality is that we need to pray a LOT more for our children and a lot less for those who are trashing Christ’s Church by their moral incontinence.
This man was not a genuine preacher of the gospel. His ministry was mainly political, and he was obsessed with debating people on islam. He also said the colonialism in Africa was a good thing and should have stretched out longer. The Apostle Paul said that he kept his body under subjection so he would not end up disqualified for leadership.
Mr. D’Souza was a rabid American apologist and his political views were radical, capitalist, and self righteously conservative. He seemed to exhibit little of the spirit of Jesus and he should step down from leadership. Perhaps we can pray that he will repent, not just of his infidelity, but of what is the focus of his ministry.

The church today is in desperate need of being cleansed of those that are leading the sheep to destruction. Those that sin OPENLY and without shame or remorse while identifying themselves as being representatives of Christ are betraying Christ and His Church. That is why the Bible says that there is a sin which we are not to pray deliverance from. The evangelical church today is in a historic period of steep decline at a time when people have been admonished over and over to simply commit these serious issues to prayer and keep their mouths shut. I suspect there is something seriously wrong with this advice. It parallels the sexual crisis in the Roman Church where grievous sins have been tolerated and all dissent has been silenced with pious admonitions and forceful coercion. For SURE there is a place for MUCH prayer for those lambs who fall into sin. But this is a different situation by far. These are, in fact, wolves in sheeps clothing who are destroying the spiritual lives of those entrusted to their care. Enough is enough.

He says he isn’t having an affair. He was engaged to this lady he met 3 months ago, I’d ask him to define ‘affair.’
He says World Mag has a vendetta against him and the article is something people would expect from tabloids.
He says he went to a law firm to file for divorce 2 weeks before it was registered in the court and that World made it sound like he rushed out October 4th and filed.
He says the event organizer may be fronting for World and either World or the organizer made up the quote about being in the same room ‘but nothing happened.’
He calls the quote pure libel.

Classic he said, he said set-up.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they are out to destroy him.

Or, if by chance the Leaders sin is so outrages that the story gets picked up by the secular news, the so-called leader just has to publicly say he’s sorry, “perhaps” meet for a few weeks/months with another designated Christian Leader and, Whalla!

Interesting. This man wants a fairer shake than he ever gave President Obama. How about the “appearance of evil” command? It does not take too far to leap to believe a man who would travel with his mistress would lie as well. While they give no mercy or grace to others they beg for it themselves.

Not at all and if it came across as though I was well I apologize.
There is no inference in there between the writer of Hebrew’s “clear conscience” and this man who apparently now seems to justifying his actions as though he too has a clear conscience. I am not saying in any way with regard to each that their sins are similar sins.
The quote from Hebrews was intended to give the right perspective with regard to earnest prayer.
This man certainly needs prayer and that each of us in here has chosen to acknowlege some personal remedy for his error I do believe we then should be obligued to pray for the man?

There is none righteous and as the citation I make from 2 Chronicles 6 indicates, we all sin in many ways. What does James say about a man who does not sin with his tongue but that he and we all stumble in many ways? And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body? And now then to these Words to Timothy:
1Ti 5:19 Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses.
1Ti 5:20 As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.

Michael, II Cor was a typo on my part, I meant II Ch which was the reference you cited. As for whether this man is “continuing” in sin, the fact of the matter is 1) he IS married and he acknowledges that as fact. 2) he IS traveling WITH a woman who is NOT his wife whom he ADMITS that he is planning to marry. I find it very strange that ministers of the gospel feel that they can dump their wife and marry another women and very rapidly be restored to ministry. I find it VERY inconsistent with the whole of scripture. All you have to do with a lot of people in ministry is simply mention the passages in Titus and I Timothy as to qualifications for ministry and they immediately become obviously hostile over the issue. They carefully cherry pick the scriptures for verses to use in their defense. These are people that are SUPPOSED to be an EXAMPLE, not people who attempt to HIDE their moral failings by attacking those who would expose them. In that light, I find your use of the two verses from 1 Tim very strange. This guy has CONFESSED to being in the PROCESS of SINNING OPENLY. AND this is NOT a sin of PASSION, like David’s. It is a CALCULATED process by which this guy intends to get what he wants and then FIX it with a twisted application of scripture and at the same time continue his ministry. This is what the Bible refers to as “willful sin”. So why cite verses that OBVIOUSLY don’t apply in this case? It reeks of the same kind of intimidation that priests use when they molest children. It is a pitiful attempt to defend the indefensible in a church that is rotting its way into apostasy.
I am really surprised that you would challenge me with these scriptures. I have no vendetta against this man who I don’t even know. I am judging him only by the statements HE is quoted as making and which HE does NOT deny. We HAVE to judge our leaders, it is a facet of testing the spirits. Otherwise we will end up following heretics. But of course the church in our day is rapidly on its way to pretending that heresy does not even exist. All I can say is that it doesn’t work for me. Those people that I look up to as pastors and Christian leaders have to be people who love Jesus AND LIVE LIKE IT. That is sadly not the case with this guy and he needs to be OUT of the ministry. And I happen to take what I understand is the Orthodox Church’s position which would be “out of the ministry for ever.” On that, you and I obviously don’t agree, but that is my position. I DO make exceptions in the cases of those people who can demonstrate a long history of faithfulness and sincere repentance after something like this has occurred, but I consider it the exception rather than the rule that that even happens. We can not just cower and accept this garbage because we are beaten into submission with a string of out of context Bible verses. These people hold themselves up as moral authorities to the world while they themselves flaunt their decadent immoral lifestyles. It is making the church a laughingstock before the whole world and we are supposed to just suck it up. Is this how we witness to the world for Christ?

Or, my comments aren’t clear enough.
As for restoring a fallen minister, yes, my position is to restore them. However long that takes seems more subjective in time scope even with obvious fruits manifesting during the restoration time scope period. Also, as you know that has been the policy of our Church otherwise we would not have the current Pastor or several of the current elders all of which have had serious failures to deal with their personal ministry life.
In any event, maybe it was a stretch to come from a strictly Biblical basis putting that lens in here with regard to this man being a President of King’s College?
I, like you, don’t know the man but for and if it wasn’t for PJ or Dr. White at Alpha and Omega, I would not know about him still, the situation in question and a lot of what is swirling around on the internet about him and it.
Dr. White did a good job on balance in my estimation responding to the situation with regard to the particularities and peculiarities of this whole affair.
My main point in any event was that all of us sin and some sin in many ways and without God’s Grace touching our deceitful hearts we would be no better off and in some ways worse than this man and his particular circumstances in life. What the standards are for a man like him to hold a “speaking” leadership role of King’s College and a man holding an office in the Church seems to me to be different?
Presently the rule the political world seems to be taking in a number of western societies lines up well with James’ admonition there in chapter 3 that if a man who stumbles doesn’t stumble in what he says he’s a perfect man? It is like there are reporters who live just to catch a man speaking speak a gaff. Once it is spoken then the pundits go to spinning the gaff against or for the man.
Apparently the judgment against this man is one of appearances of evil with the episode in the hotel being seen going into a hotel room with a younger woman. After it was reveal the shoe dropped and the spin and accusations flew.
Is there a decline in moral integrity in the world today? Yes there is. If God doesn’t intervene it seems to me it is going over the cliff!
As you, I have great confidence in the Lord to “change” our lowly body to be transform into His glorious Body by that power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself as the Words from Philippians points out; and I live hoping in and holding to that Word as His promise holding to Him as a promise. And as for the reference to Peter’s word in 1 Peter 5, I just don’t see any of us outside that reality unless of course we are not one of His Children? If we are not one of His predestined foreordained sons we won’t suffer any discipline from the Hands of the Father of Lights.
Michael, You indeed did hit a nerve. I readily admit to having strong feelings about these issues. I also tend not to speak in parables when I address the issues. I grew up in a different time and a different place where these sorts of things where viewed as shameful and scandalous even by the unchurched. I do not believe that things have changed for the better on the issue. I am also well aware that such is the policy of our church to restore “fallen” ministers. While I happen to disagree with that particular policy, I would readily admit that those in our immediate church who have been restored are presently faithful servants of Christ with hearts of repentance toward God who have my full respect in terms of their positions of leadership. If it were not so, I and my family would have moved on long ago. That, however, does not change my deeply held convictions on the issue. One of those convictions central to this issue is that I see divorce and adultry as being serious sins. I also see adultry as something more than simply as physical act. In this case, for example, I see what this man is doing as being adultrous. That said, I see the problem with this man NOT as something he said, but rather as what he himself is confessing he is doing which he claims that he himself sees as NOT being in any way “sinful”. So I see this case as going beyond the “appearance of evil”. I realize that I am far out of the mainstream on this this, but I am more than willing to take the heat for it as it is a deeply held conviction on my part.
I believe that a man living in the grace of God will live out that grace in his life. On the other hand the man who lives out something else puts himself under the law. Thus, while one man needs compassion, another needs discipline. The New Testament speaks much of both compassion AND discpline in the context of the church. We see much compassion these days but close to zero discipline. I would readily admit that there is some that goes on privately (and privacy is appropriate in such cases) and that is a good thing. But is cases like this, I think there is far too much clamor for compassion and not enough for discipline.
At this point, indeed, he has decided to move on which is a good move on his part. Perhaps he can pursue a career in politics instead of ministry and see his baggage be turned into an asset. I’m sure that someone like Rupert Murdoch would offer him a job at Fox that would compensate him as well or better than the job at the school. Then he would become part of the “press” which is the butt of so much criticism.
The appearance of evil is a legitimate concern. But his entire ministry to me has been one of graceless judgemnt and political hubris. That is not the gospel. If it was found out that he did bot spend the night with this woman it still would have been unwise. But that does not address the nature of his “ministry”.
