I’ve been following a series posted at For the Love of His Truth blog and wanted to share the links. Someone may consider one or both parts already posted to be quite controversial, in fact, one or both may even ruffle some feathers: but I look at controversial Christian messages and studies in this manner: if I disagree with something written (in any study) I’ll look towards the scriptures in order to prove the word says otherwise. Or if it’s to do with an issue outside scripture, in this instance the character and motives of one Cyrus Scofield and his bible version, research and then present reliable documented evidence which proves otherwise – if I cannot produce one or the other I must ask why, and then seriously consider I’ve been wrong.
My point is, we should never be afraid of looking at facts (or for that matter) having what we’ve assumed as truth, challenged. I’m sure you know without my saying so, truth will always hold up under any and all honest scrutiny. It’s only lies which crumble when looked at too closely. Saying that, if time allows, check out both part one and two in this series
Part (1) – Scofield “Bible” – A Handbook for Genocide
Posted by Grant Swart with this disclaimer:
While I must make it clear that I do not necessarily agree with all the actions, attitudes, approach and opinion of the author of this article or that of his followers, this particular study is of value to those who continue to be deceived by the fatally flawed Scofield Reference “Bible” and the deceptive theology which it has spawned. I certainly do not agree that Christians should work alongside the Islamic Arab world in order to stop the war with Israel. It is a ludicrous and unscriptural suggestion that Christians should by any means support false religions which lead to eternal damnation. Islam and Judaism are both false religions and Christians should endeavour to bring the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the followers of both Islam and Judaism. There are numerous other similar studies which agree with and support this article, and I will post a few of them as follow-ups. I regard this particular one by C.E. Carlson as straight-forward, accurate and sufficiently comprehensive.
The Source Of The Problem In The Mideast: Why Judeo-Christians Support War
By C. E. Carlson
The French author, Alexis de Tocqueville, wrote Democracy in America when he traveled here in the first third of the 19th Century. In ringing tones he sang the praises of America’s invulnerable strength and spirit. He attributed its greatness to its citizens’ sense of morality… even with the abundant church attendances he observed in America. De Tocqueville wrote in French and is credited with this familiar quote: AMERICA IS GREAT BECAUSE SHE IS GOOD, AND IF AMERICA EVER CEASES TO BE GOOD, SHE WILL CEASE TO BE GREAT.
De Tocqueville could see the power of America, but he could not have known in 1830 that she was soon to be under an attack aimed at its churches and the very sense of morality that he extolled.First, there was a War Between the States, which scarred the powerful young nation in its strapping youth. A worse attack on America was to commence near the turn of the 20th century. This was the onset of an attack on American Christianity that continues unabated against the traditional, Christ-following church. This attack, which author Gordon Ginn calls “The final Apostasy,” began with a small very wealthy and determined European political movement. It had a dream, and the American churches stood in its way.The World Zionist movement, as its Jewish founders called themselves, had plans to acquire a homeland for all Jews worldwide, even though most were far from homeless, and many did not want another home. Not any land would do. World Zionists wanted a specific property that American Christians called “the Holy Land.” But if these Zionists read “Democracy in America” or any of the journals of any of America’s churches, which no doubt they did, they could not help but know that Jerusalem was not theirs to have. As self-proclaimed Jews, they were, according to the Christian New Testament, the persecutors of Christ and most of his early followers, and the engineers of his crucifixion. (continued here)
Part (2) – Scofield “Bible” – Re-defining the darkness of fraud, conspiracy and heresy
Quote from Grant Swart’s lead-in and disclaimer,
The life of often referenced dispensationalist Cyrus Ingerson Scofield is characterized by dishonesty, scandal, lies, fraud, adultery, forgery and disgrace. However, I wish to make it abundantly clear once again, that my series of posts of which this article forms a part, should by no means be regarded as an attempt to pass judgement on the private life, sins, criminality, convictions, indiscretions, iniquities, personal shortcomings, lies and fraudulent lifestyle of the man. In this regard let us call to memory the words of the Apostle Paul as we contemplate the content of this series of articles:
(Romans 3:20-24) For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it– the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
Scofield may have been all of those sinful things, or he may have been none of them. How many Christians are not guilty of some, if not all of the same sins? Scofield may have been a believer in Jesus Christ, although very little of his life bears testimony to that probability, least of all his Bible notes. However, none of that can change the fact that the reasons for the existence of the heretical teachings held within the Scofield Reference “Bible” were fraudulent and deceptive. The teachings and ideas contained in his notes resulted in the heinous lies which have been instrumental in supporting some of the greatest heresies and filthy atrocities in post reformation Christianity. Whether the wayward lifestyle of the man had much to do with his teachings and expository deficiencies, or not, does not alter the reality that the Scofield Reference “Bible” is a work which re-defines the darkness of the fraud which spawned it’s heresies, conspiracies and deceptive messages….
I do not necessarily endorse or subscribe to all of the thoughts and work of the author of this attached article. So, I ask those opposed to this work, to please refrain from playing the tired “guilty by association” card in these instances, these matters have been considered. However, differences which may exist are not sufficient reason for me not to regard what follows, as a thorough and honest article aimed at exposing the filthy theology which the Scofield Reference “Bible” has spawned, and the devastating results it has had within the church and around the world. For those reasons, I am grateful to the author/s concerned.
Cyrus I. Scofield Pope of Premillennialism
By N. Davis
I am going to talk about a certain man everybody knows. His name is Cyrus I. Scofield. The man who wrote the Scofield Bible. The Bible that Christian brethren read so frequently and with which they have made up their current doctrine. Which has changed the thrust of America since the middle 1800s.
This is going to be of controversial content and because it is controversial in content I will pick one of the Bibles most controversial characters to quote – the prophet Jeremiah. He preached, he warned, he exposed false preaching of his day and all to no avail. And he and his Israel people went right into captivity. The very captivity about which he had been warning. He put that blame for that tragic collapse of his civilization right where it belonged. With the ministers, who taught error. He wrote this, “behold the Prophets say to them, Ye will not see the sword. Neither see famine. But I will give you assured peace in this place. Then the lord said unto me. “Prophets prophesy lies in my name. I sent them not. Neither have I commanded them. Neither spake unto them. They prophesy unto you a false vision and divination. A thing of not, and deceit of their heart. Therefore saith the Lord concerning the Prophets that prophesy in my name and I sent them not, Yet say sword and famine shall not be in this land, by sword and famine shall these prophets be consumed.”..
